Oh you meant Titanfall 2, I was thinking of Team Fortress 2.

Overwatch at the doesn't seem like it'll have longevity issues for the foreseeable future. At the moment it looks like it might have momentum (and push behind it) to join CS and Team Fortress 2 (or non FPS games like LoL, DOTA 2) as becoming a staple on the PC front and a very mainstream property overall (eg. people who don't play it will even know about it).

Regular game is $40, the $60 one, which is the one on sale, only gives you skins for Overwatch and other items for some of the other Blizzard games. You get Mercy Wings for D3.

Finally trying this game out with the free to play weekend, it's pretty addictive, might pick up the $35 deal after it's over, Mei is Bae

finally played for about 90 minutes tonight. not really impressed. it feels like a $10 unreal tournament game. then my screen started turning purple/pink. did some googling. couldn't find a fix.
 
Played 3 games. Lost 3 games. Half the time didn't know who killed me from where. Half the time saw that my attacks were yielding so little damage it was a pittance. I think I finally found a nub tube artist Pharah that is more my playstyle. Also has some wings shite so she can fly. Another one that I forgot to use was from my experience in beta. The tank that becomes stationary gattling gun. Was tight for defense in beta at least.

Not really feeling this game yet. Only hit level 3 or maybe 4 in 3 matches. Went back to BF1. That game like dope.

Which is the best character for ultimate COD skill-less insta spawn kills gameplay?

I know. I need to spend more time with the game. People playing have maybe a 6 month headstart and also the game is too damn colorful for me. That is why I can't understand what is going on sometimes.

Getting the hang of it. Right now my K/D is atrocious as most times my kills are stolen by someone else. Too much going on in choke points. And people blamed COD for this kind of gameplay.
 
Overwatch doesn't track traditional kills so you can't really kill steal. Overwatch only tracks eliminations, everyone who contributes damage to an opponent who dies gets credit for an elimination.

Granted that might actually make you feel worse in terms of you K/D (really E/D). But it also depends on your hero role.

In terms of the hero that is most like a traditional FPS probably Soldier 76. Mccree and Reaper should be easy to pick up as well. 76/Mccree and Reaper is a good two combo to learn for DPS at the moment.

There is a Torb only player in Grand Master and a Symmetra only Grand Master both with hundreds of hours on those specific heroes :eek:
 
I played a bit this weekend and ended up buying the game. I only got to lvl 5, so I don't know what the hell I'm doing, and I'm super rusty on shooters, but it was fun. Don't know why, but I think I only lost one game. I think I only died once. Super lucky I'm thinking. I know I'm not that good.

I enjoyed pretty much every hero I played, though I didn't play all of them fully. I don't remember all of the abilities of each hero, so I'd end up just using their primary and maybe an alt once or twice. It's fun. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that the free play weekend is over. I've also got a lot to learn about how to play well.

Levels only show how long you play, and gives you loot boxes for visual and audio add-ons for the characters, it doesn't affect anything in the game.

I watched a few of the Overwatch matches they had at Blizzcon on youtube, but they pulled all the videos down a few days after the event was over.
Nearly every match I watched had this main composition, Zarya, Genji, Lucio, Ana, Reinhardt, Mei.

Ana's Ult was always given to Genji in combo with his Ult. Teams always grouped up and stuck together.
South Korea won the Tournament and I believe they never gave up a single control point during the Tournament.

I refunded the game. It is not for me. Guys who recommended Soldier 76 were right. Also got 3 Play of the Match. I won 3/4 games I played last night. However, it is just too casul for my taste. Can't even aim properly lol. Looks like spray and pray at chokepoints. COD seems like a tactical shooter compared to this piece of shit.

Glad Blizzard offers refunds. For next 6 months I can't have a refund though now. Not that it matters because Blizzard won't release another game in next 20 years. :p

Was decent while it lasted. No longevity for me.

Something to keep in mind is that the pro meta and strategies are not necessarily directly applicable to even competitive play at high levels much less throughout the skill curve.

Also the meta shifts upon major balance changes which happened after the world cup with the recent balance patch and addition of Sombra. There will likely be a large shift upwards for Soldier 76.

Actually in talking to competitive players (<---just picked it up this weekend for $35) most hate people who main on characters, you need to be well rounded in order for the team to win. Even if you only like one character from support, defense, tank or attack, make sure to at least be able to help your team out.

On a side note; this game is lots of fun, but EASY to run. I'm actually thinking 4K wouldn't be that difficult on my PC. Anyone playing at 4K?

I play at 4k on a GTX 1070. At 100% DSR set on Epic with just one of the AA settings turned down a notch (I think the TXAA one). Averages right around 60 FPS with dips to ~50. Good enough for me right now. I think the last patch actually undid my settings and put everything back at Auto. I was getting like 90-100 FPS but the image quality hit was noticeable, so I switched back.

I was just thinking yesterday what it'd be like if Zen had a second choice for ult and that second choice being a giant discord sphere.

Looks like its a positive change, albeit still buggy with that ability 2 shield. Definitely makes her more viable.

As for Zen and a big discord orb? Naah, Transcendence is where its at. Can't think of a time I've popped that and thought "I wish this did something else"
 
Pharah need to take less damage directly from the front when she pops her ULT. Every time I use it I know I am going to be sniped as I just sit there in the air with my arms wide open, lol

You need to use her hover and jump jet abilities in a smarter fashion, like this - don't just randomly use it when the entire team is facing your direction.

I had something weird happen today. I got in a match and we were on defense. The attacking team just barely got the escort thingy to the checkpoint before time ran out. We were defending the second checkpoint. It was a good fight, but I think we were winning. Suddenly, I got kicked out with a message saying, "Not enough players".

WTF? If a team is losing, can they all just bail out and save themselves from a loss?

I was hit with a 7 or 8 game -75% XP penalty for leaving games early.

You'll get an XP penalty for leaving too many games regardless of mode.

Leaving competitive too many times has an additional penalty of timed suspensions from competitive play. Also leaving competitive can't prevent losses (at least it was designed that way, but there is an exploit for certain cases).
 
Got to diamond before the reset, photo finish. Didn't get to play most of the season due to out of town work.

Season 3 should be better. Hoping to hit master!

XP is only used to unlock cosmetics and has 0 game play impact. This is how it should be.

Or I guess you can have Battlefields game play affecting "Dress 'Em Up Barbie nonsense" progression system instead. Sorry I mean "Customized Action Figure" nonsense. After all the true test of manhood and grit is playing make believe soldier in a military shooter.

I don't agree with this. BF games have always had guns unlocked at early stages that were OK to put up a fight. Of course the longer you play, the better guns you unlocked. It still is true for BF1 but at least this time even the default level 1 guns are as good and sometimes better than some of the later unlocks. For me XP should depict progression. Gun unlocks (good or bad) are always exciting to try out. Same is true for Titanfall games (I can run around with CAR until level 50 or wait for a Hemlock unlock at level 20-ish). Same also true for any COD game and was especially perfected with BLOPS 3 IMO.

This game, every match is the same. I don't even unlock an ability after hours and hours of play. It is the classic MP shooter in that respect but given how bad the guns generally are I did not enjoy it one bit. Spent about 3 hours with it and saw all I needed to see. Unless you like the Dress 'em up stuff, I don't see the value in continue playing. Also teams that won virtually had the same config every damn time. Since many nubs were on in the free weekend, my teams were generally stupid (e.g., not a single healer, 3 tanks, etc. etc.). Lack of game modes was another problem that kept very little interest of mine.

Oh well. Enjoy it if you like it.
