*** Official DirectX 9.0c Thread ***

Sorry if this has already been asked.... I read only the first and last pages

Is the SP2 RC required to install DX9.0C?

Nope. SP2 RC already has DX9.0c, so if you try to install this DX, it basically does nothing.

When u have cubes moving so fast in DxDiag is bcoz u have Vsync off, u can turn Vsync on and test again and it won't move too fast anymore
Oh..well in that case the damn cube can keep on spinning out of control. :)

i've tried to install the dist install like 10 times now and i get no where.

it extracts the files then tries to copy them and it says that the files arent microsoft approved then stops and you have to click "Finish" and nothing happens.

What is wrong?

the first problem was that i didnt have .Net Framework installed. Then i figured that out now this.

What the hell?

Installed the new official dx 9.0c (from the dx website) and everything seems all and well. One odd thing though, dxdiag no longer displays my mobo+bios info.. oh well, no probs.

I did what the first post said and it still shows "not found"
I have SP2 and deleted the Directx registry folder, rebooted then installed the redist and rebooted again but still shows NOT FOUND.
One funny thing happened is when I ran the dxsetup it instantly came up saying installation complete.

edit
If you read Ultimate17 post you will see he added this to his post

EDIT: This doesnt seem to work with sp rc2/dx9.0c installed. Only works with those who installed the stand-alone dx9.0c beta (the one which requires you to enter safe mode to apply the hot fixes) Sorry for the delay with this information, but it's just come to my attention now, as some users are having problems whom have sp rc2.

Anybody else seen this?

Running:
Gigabyte K8N-939 w/ FX-53 watercooled @ 12.5x204 w/ F3 BIOS
BFG 6800GT OC (watercooled at 405/1200) w/ 61.77 reference and coolbits 2
DirectX 9.0c on WinXP Pro SP1a running 3DMark03 (current build)
1GB Corsair RAM, WD Raptor SATA

The Pixel Shader 2 test, I get only 0.6 fps and the elephant is a black silhouette. The small rhino and the wood pedestal are correctly rendered, though.

On an earlier Abit AV8 motherboard running 61.76 and DirectX 9.0b, I was getting around 185fps and no rendering issues, but since I formatted when I replaced the mobo, I'm not sure which ingredient is causing the issue. I tried downgrading back to 61.76 on my current system, but no change. Wasn't able to uninstall 9.0c.

Dropping all my clocks back to stock has no affect on these symptoms.

All other tests look normal over repeated runs, and I can run Prime95 overnight with no errors.

I'm guessing since 9.0c added PS3 support, something needs patching in 3dmark03 in the pixel shader tests, but I saw a post from someone on the 3dmark forums and they had no troubles.

Any suggestions? Anybody else seen this?

Thanks

I've had nothing but problems since I installed this- no matter what vid drivers I try, far cry in unplayable I all the textures and enviroments are blue :/

I only seen a real small increase going to C on my 5900 ultra.

Hey, don't sound so down about it....you should be happy. ;)

Considering neither of our cards really officially support and make use of DX9.0c at all, I'll take whatever little miniscule gains I can get my hands on. I didn't bother fiddling around with any SP2 beta BS and I'm having no problem with 9.0c at all so I'm perfectly happy, it has replaced 9.0b in my backup folder of installers.

They have a comment on this on the website, turn off anti-aliasing. Make sure it's not set to application controlled, and off, make it strictly off.

This should help those that have SP2 RC2 beta installed.

Just download and run the install of the DX9c redistibute. It'll seem like it does nothing and goes right to "Finish", but it's actually updating 1 .dll file so fast that you don't notice. That one little dll is the only difference between the DX9c in the SP2 beta, and this new finished DX9c.

so when I reformat, and run the websetupdx and it dls the latest 9.0c is that okay, i dun wanna have 2 re re format.

Why is this not available on Windows Update?

Is this really worth it to go from b to c?

Depending on what video card a person has it may or may not be worth it. Anything older then an X800 series or 6800 series gains next to nothing from 9.0c.....which makes perfect sense. The only people really seeing any gains are obviously 6800 owners, and most of the "good news" is coming with regards to increased 3DMark03 scores, and I can't quite remember about different results with games.

I'm trying to be realistic here but overall, if you don't have a GeForce 6 series video card it's not REALLY worth your time to install 9.0c.....sure it won't HURT, but its not like you'll be seeing any stellar gains either.

didn't fix it. same problem

Your problem with the farcry textures is might be because of forced mipmapping. (i know FFXII did the same thing where everything was just gray and gross). Go to the display properties/settings tab/advanced and go to your geforce tab. Under the performance and quality settings, there is a "Force MipMaps" line and you should try setting this to "None". You have to have the "Show advanced setings" box checked in order to see this. Hope this works for you :)

Now to my problem.

1/2 of my games are giving me a white screen. Silent Hill 3, and Sacred just to name a few. Everything seems to be working fine, as I can hear the music and noiss and if I'm lucky enough to actually click on somehting in the title scren I can hear it responding lol. I would assume this is either a problem with the games not supporting the latest nVidia drivers, or directx giving me another forcefull raping. Any idea's?

I actually discovered the problem with the amazingly lame white screen. Those games don't support nVidia drivers over 56.64. Had to roll back to there to play. Not a DirectX issue. My appologies.
