Official Crysis 2 Thread

There is no Dx11 support right now, it will come later they have said.
Graphic settings are the same as in mp demo from what ive been told, only hope is console and custom configs..

I get god awful flickering with crossfire enabled. I have installed the latest CAP4 profile and nothing has changed. This sucks :(

11.4 Preview
11.2 CAP4

I am getting this as well on my 5970,same drivers, so pissed right now..

DX11 or not this game like the IGN post sais is just fantastic looking in the SP, the setting names are different from the MP demo in SP, Extreme is the highest setting, tried in 3D and getting a solid 30FPS, pretty fluid, not sure if SLI is fully kicking in, probably not without a new profile.

a new profile was released for the demo. are you running that? i'm curious how well SLI is working at the moment in the retail release. it worked very well for me in the demo, so i would imagine it's the same.

Yeah, I download that but I don't know if that was just for the demo or not and I've not confirmed if SLI is working or not yet in the SP but the performance I'm getting now in the SP was the same as the MP before the profile patch.

I love the way the suit auto-changes for speed/strength now. The graphics look great but they look no better than the PS3 version I downloaded to see how the graphics look (from the PC MP demo).
I hope they don't screw us and not release the DX11 patch, personally I would have likely held off until that was released. I'm still doing the first section and it's fun but I think the graphics of Crysis were better.

the game is so sweet and preety i like it so much, i was dreaming about it last night and YEES! my dream come true, its fantastic, graphics is awesoom and i get 70-80fps max setting in uber hd!!!!wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut!!!

SO GOOD!

Can anyone confirm whether or not you can change the FOV (or if it needs to be changed in the first place)? And if it can be changed whether or not you can do so from a menu or you have to mess with a config file.

Pretty much the same. The game, even on it's "best" settings are not crippling my PC, and it's running fairly smooth, which, given the first Crysis, is to say, a disappointment.

the bitch-fest flood gates swung wide open when the first Crysis was released and nobody could run it at max settings. Releasing a game that is graphically inferior and less demanding was the right move on Crytek's part (though not what i would personally prefer). and most importantly, they now have a game engine that gives them exposure in the console market.

Wait…the game runs smoothly on high settings?
Dammit. I was hoping to struggle to pull 30 FPS and wanted to have to settle for low details with no vsync. Either that or be forced to go and buy new hardware or wait 2-3 years to play the game in all its glory. I guess I can still pray for bogdowns and driver issues.
Jeez – what a disappointment :p

FOV is messed up in the cutscenes but looks fine in game at 5760x1080 for me.

^ What about for normal 16:10 or 16:9 resolutions? Is the FOV somewhere around 90 or is it a consolish 60 or degrees?

Looking forward to trying this when I get home. I'm hoping I can run it maxxed out at my 28" monitor's native res of 1920x1080!

it's looking like no dx11 may very well be a possibility; not to mention the lackluster pc support as it is. looks like crytek has fully embraced the consoles, methinks. sigh, another one bites the dust :(.

Whatever is said about this game it does look incredible in SP on Extreme. Looks to be framerate capped, I get 30 FPS in 3D and 60 FPS in 2D on Extreme at 5760x1080. It's complete fluid at 30 FPS in 3D however but I'm sure there's a way to remove the locks however the framerate is VERY consistent so this is probably a good thing in SP.

AHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :D :D

The fact that any of you have computers capable of running the installer shows total weakness on Crytek's part. I assumed this would have been optimized for quantum computing and come on a one inch holographic cube, or at least some new optical media that no one could even recognize. Then you add insult to injury with no octa-sli support, no telepathic controls, and no Aztec language subtitles?

Disappointment.

It just utterly baffles me that people think Crysis, a game that's four years old, is still the bees knees. Are we even playing the same game? It's ugly. It looks dated. Time to move on.

I have a theory that ten years from now people are still going to be saying that Crysis is the best looking game on the market. It's... ludicrous!

You could edit the FOV in the demo although default fov was a console ish 55 I seem to recall.

I'm still curious to see how the numbers play out for sales of this game. I know crytek wants it to be the next modern warfare but I just don't see that happening. I am kind of hoping this opens their eyes to the fact that just because you do a console release does not mean you instantly sell 20 million copies.

I also am curious how much they are actually pushing cryengine 3 with this game. I thought the tech demos of cryengine 3 released at GDC were quite impressive, but then again we never seem to actually reach those levels of graphics in games, especially with consoles running 6 year old hardware.

I am rather excited to try this out when I get home from work. I will be quite bummed though if it has only checkpoints with no quicksaving.

The first Crysis when run with the details cranked and at 60FPS is still pretty much as good looking as anything else. It may not have some of the DX11 bullet point bragging points as say, 2033, but in terms of actual visuals I'd say it's no worse.

What games are you thinking of that outclass it?

Every game published within the past 24 months looks better than the 4-year-old Crysis.

Agreed. In terms of the technical side, I have yet to see a game top Crysis. Now in terms of art direction, other games are more impressive... but that's not due to the engine, that's purely design talent.

Have to disagree with this one. The original Crysis at it's highest settings and high levels of AA and AF is still better looking that most new games but Crysis 2 does overall surpass it I believe.

I take it you have never played Bulletstorm, CODMW2, COD:BO, Deadspace 2, Mass Effect 2, Global Agenda, Bioshock 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Mafia 2, Dead Rising 2, Fallout New Vegas, Force Unleashed 2, Prototype, Wolfenstien, Section 8, Borderlands, Force Unleashed or Left 4 Dead 2?

Sure there are some games out there like Metro 2033 that look fantastic, but the vast majority of games released look notably worse then crysis 1 (at least in my opinion)

Anyone with the Steam version having MyCrysis login and Promo Code redemption issues? I'm still downloading and almost every thread on the Crysis forums is bitching about this. I can't seem to find a manual either. I usually like to read it beforehand so that I can go ahead and map out keys to my n52 while it is downloading. Do the checkpoint saves ruin it for anyone?

Anyone else having disc read issues? I tried it in both my LiteOn DVD/RW drive and my LG Blu-Ray/RW drive and it won't read it.

I just got mine and it's reading fine.

That's your opinion, can't expect others to see it your way.

Checkpoints can work fine if they are done correctly, Far Cry used checkpoints and they were fine. That being said I still prefer quicksaving, (or quicksaving with checkpoints for when you forget to quicksave). Poorly done checkpoints can come close to ruining a game though.

I think it's hilarious people complaining about how Crysis 2 doesn't push the graphical envelope as Crysis did. How can you blame them? Last time they did hey got a ton of bitches and whiners complain about how "unoptimized" it is, it's no surprise they were so wiling to tell the PC gamers off and go to the console route where people will think this is the most amazing graphical game ever.

Also, can anyone who had connections issues with the demo confirm whether or not those have been resolved? I could never get past the login screen on the demo and I don't feel like spending $60 on this game if I'm not even going to be able to play the multiplayer.

Note that Crysis 2 FOV is vertical, so you need to use an fov Calc such as this one to set your true desired fov. 55 vert fov at 1080p is 85 horizontal fov.

Agreed but this game on extreme is going to push more systems than many might think and again this is an awesome looking game, consolitis or not.

Downloaded via Steam in 22 minutes @ 6.5Mbs. Started right up, setup account, and played an hour of SP. It looks pretty good and plays (with hardware in my sig) beautifully! Really smooth framerates. Screen res is 1920x1200 and graphics settings are set to 'Extreme' and VSync is enabled. No in-game AA settings but there is not much jaggies while playing the SP levels. Sorry no screen pics yet. Can't decide how to compare the graphics to the original Crysis, however. Crysis 2 looks really good but almost in a console, arcade kind of way. I'll have to reinstall Crysis and compare, but I remember Crysis really looking and 'feeling' more detailed (ie. plants move to your walking thru them, damage to vehicles, terrain detail). Regardless, I'm happy with the visuals and gameplay seems fun at this point. YMMV, obviously.
