wich is more accurate on the temps, on rivatuner i get about 45C idle and the overdrive tab shows like 65C idle.

Neither of them are accurate. The sensor the card uses isn't ON the die so because that's what rivatuner uses.....it's going to be to low. All the Catalyst drivers do is literally, add 20C to "make up" for it. If you ask me, neither of them is bang on and I'm just gonna be putting a sensor from my Hardcano12 right on/next to the GPU and going with that. ;)
 
wheres the best place to place a probe on the card, i will be watercooling it, the block is already connected"not connected to the card" just waiting on the memory coolers to get here. soooo i want some accurate temps.

I've got the Giant III on my 9800XT right now and I'm gonna be taking it off to put the sensor underneath the block, right next to the GPU itself, inside the shim. This will depend on what kind of thermal sensors you're suing though. Some sensors have thicker wires then others and may not let you put them between things.

Give it a shot.
 
i hope i can get 7k on 3dmark03 when i put the watercooler on and i oc it. i will be going on this tuesday because thats when the mem coolers get here.

Check out my clocks/scores in my sig.....just updated today. It should be possible for ya, especially with a little h2O.
 
Question: Are Cat 4.3s better than Cat 4.2s in games like UT2k4 and Far Cry. I am too lazy to read the whole thread!
 
Had a wonky crash in full version of FarCry, everything else I play works fine. It shut down the computer...

My memory coolers got delayed a few days, so i go impatient and decided to OC it on stock cooling, i got the core to 448mhz. i havnt touched the memory yet. but with the core oc'd to that i reached 6700 on 3dmark03. That makes me happy:D
 
should i use the catalyst uninstaller program by ATI to remove my current catalyst drivers before isntalling the 4.3's ? or is there a better tool for cleaning my system?
