Don't think my PC is up for it: P4 2.4, 512 MB Ram, Radeon 9500pro, I guess I could probably run it on minimal settings.

I have a 360 though, and I'd rather use that controller than mouse+keyboard and play on the bigger screen anyway. I dunno, this one will definately be a rental for me first... I played Morrowind and hated it, but I usually like RPGs... maybe if this one ends up having some sort of decent story I can get into it...

uhh...

"Windows XP "

it only gives an OS requirement for the minium specs...not the reccomended.

Also...it was a joke since they couldn't release it as self-bootable.

Me hopes an X800XL is good enough for 12x10 on my 17" LCD with most if not all of the eye candy on.

Thats what I'm hoping for also, I have a 6800GT though and am hoping for 12x10 with max details, don't care about AA/AF though.

Would a x1600 Pro 256mb video card run it? I don't get it. It has x1300 up to everything else but it doesn't say it supports the x1600.

Planning to build a new rig since mine is coming up on 4 years old. But haven't decided whether to go for the PC or 360 version yet.

I also meet the recommended specs almost exactly (3.06 P4, x800xtpe, gig of RAM). My only hope is that this game won't really require the kind of high frame rates something like a FPS does. If I can run at least 1024x768 w/ 2xAA at a steady 25 frames per second, I will be alright. Having less than 2gb of RAM is probably going to mean stutter city, though.

Yeah I have the same setup as you, except an athlon 64 3000+....same video card. I just added another gig of ram, hopefully it won't stutter...you have to wonder though, what framerate do they consider to fall in the "recommended" category?

I'm confident that I will be able to play it at max settings @ 1680x1050, but I also do remember when Morrowind came out...

My PC meets the recommended requirements. What resolution do you folks think I can run to get 30 fps (which is what the 360 runs at)? See specs in sig.

I have been hanging on my old system in sig for a bit too long, still I wont upgrade just for this. 360 Ive got another game for you!

I'll be running it at full settings. Hooray! for power surges that mess up processors forcing you to build a new system. Heh. :p

It stinks that they took out the object-related lighting effects of the game. : (

It really gives a sense of realism to a game when EVERYTHING casts shadows like it should. Oh well, maybe next time?

There will prolly be a mod released that will add it back in

No mod can just re-add it, because they re-did shadows completely. The code for objects casting shadows isn't merely turned "off" but it's simply not there anymore.

I wouldn't underestimate the mod community. They've done similar things in the past. And it's very rare for a programmer to actually remove code. It's prolly still there but just not in use.

I should be able to run it pretty damn high on 1024x768, but I might sink it lower and kick it up to 1280x1024

That was talked about on the official boards.

The dev's themselves said the code isn't simply "off," they scraped their shadows for it and have re-worked it completely, a whole new system for the new shadows vs the old ones like you saw in the E3 video.

Aw, see you should have said that... :)

It's too bad though...

I am SO glad that this is on DVD only. I'm sick of the 4-5 cd versions.
my only other request is the PC version have the nice plastic DVD case. Anybody know about this?

If you have the Lord of the Ring extended editions, the Collectors Edition is more like that. Except for the fold out flaps. I don't know about the regular edition.

Everything looks beautiful except the monsters. They look like b-rated sic-fi/fantasy monsters on home PC CGI effects kits. You can at least make an ATTEMPT to make them scary or compelling looking. Nothing like expensive high qualiy looking armor and weaponry to go out and slap the shit outta muppets

pfft, id like to see a game that goes close to whats in the 1 week remaining video, or any of the countdown videos for that matter.

Even if it doesnt meet your angsty views of whats next gen in terms of graphics, its next-gen in every other area without a doubt

or not, the ai has been called retarded and not very revolutionary by magazine reviewers, face it, the game is a pretty morrowind with dialogue(not saying thats bad, but it should have looked better then what it does....god help me when they release TES5 on the same engine 3 yrs from now....i think id throw up)

its been also called unpolished

Jesus, I'm surprised 67% have machines capable of playing this at max settings!!!

There's a lot of "been called" in there. Why don't you wait for it to come out to form your own opinions about it?

I know they've said ES:V will be on X360 as well as PC. So unless they make sacrifices,
the engine probably won't evolve that much. But that's ok with me if they can get a sequel out in a shorter period of time. I'd rather they use their resources to add content than rewrite the whole graphics engine again. Oblivion is a decent improvement in size over Morrowind.
Roughly 1.5-2 times the size. But I want the next game to really push the limit. 40-50 square miles with a couple dozen joinable factions would be nice.

I think a lot of the confusion about the graphics is there were many screenshots and movies released that were not displayed on state of the art systems. The infamous german video that didn't even have bump mapping on the dungeon walls. But the one week to go video looks pretty nice to me. I hope the new video coming today shows some more in depth dungeon or cave spelunking.
