Of course it is, ATI isn't winning. Any game where ATI loses is crap and any OS where ATI sucks on is useless.s_s256 said:useless

Jerunk said:Ignorant shit, it compares a wide variety of cards and on the 1 vs 1 benchmarks it's the 6800 vs X800 Pro, both have 12 pipes.
Read things before you get all uppity and make yourself look like a dumbass.

tornadotsunamilife said:he said the bench was worthless due to linux not having great game support (i agree). however not everyone uses linux for gaming etc. and btw CAD usually needs a good £300-£400 card for best results
CAD, video rendering, etc....Jonsey said:What else do you NEED a $200 - $300 video card for?
Did you even read the post/link? I think not.WuTangClam said:Omg Nvidia Is Teh Winnar Again!!!!!11

Doom 3 is being ported over to linux as i type this. I also can play a few other games that support it natively, like ut2k3,ut2k4, Tactical Ops, just to name a few FPS'. There are others as well i wouldn't mind playing on linux instead of a bloated windows system. And there are a hell of a lot of linux gamers out there, so I say your comment is quite wrong.Netrat33 said:of course this bench is worthless...because linux is such a gaming platform![]()

how ever there are several other projects out there, and last i recall wineX (now called cedega) worked with a ton of games.ZenOps said:WINE, you can call it what you want sure it may not be a true emulator, but it is a software translator or wrapper no matter how you look at it. That two games used it still shows how immature Linux support is. Its still emulating something, and that is OpenGL on the Windows platform.
Neither the ATi or Nvidia card seems to work with AF, which just completely kills off linux as a gaming platform for me. The first one to implement AF will be at great advantage (Sure Nvidia is winning the performance race right now, but with no AF, it looks hella crappier than Windows versions of the same games)

Thats ok, that FX5200 on your $2000 Mac is going to run games such as Doom3 like butterNetrat33 said:yea...few games. it's not a gaming platform nor ideal for playing games
That's like saying a Mac is great gaming system because it gets 5 games in 1 year (yes that is an exaggeration...it's 7 games)
plus with to point out with my earlier post:
You don't hear a lot of people going "my ****** card beat your ***** card in 3D studio or lightwave or whatever you want"
Just because it isn't the best overall gaming platform doesn't mean people don't use it for gaming. WineX makes a lot of games compatible and a couple great games have native Linux clients (Doom3, UT2004, Q3, Neverwinter Nights). Saying that Linux sucks for gaming isn't justification for ATI's scores for the people that use Linux.Netrat33 said:yea...few games. it's not a gaming platform nor ideal for playing games

Heck, I don't use Linux for gaming usually (sometimes with Q3), but I like the option and I really like it when companies support it.
Netrat33 said:So linux users are telling me that you're going to spend 500 dollars on a video card...just to play a handful of games that work on it (for either company's card)? That seems a little crazy to me. That doesn't make a good gaming system or sound gaming system OR financially smart or (Just wanted to type 'or' three times).

rancor said:Linux is actaully a good gaming system, but developers don't make game for Linux, because there aren't enough users and if the game isn't popular there is no profit in it. Thats why you only see the big time games on Linux.
Netrat33 said:That's what I just said though. That's why it's not a good gaming platform. Even if a game plays faster on it, if there aren't many games for it it's not a gaming platform not does it warrant buying either video cards to play games
SM3 and 3Dc offer both current cards great performance hikes in games...IF it has support.
