Lets face it when nvidia g280 wooped 4870 then gtx 285 still wooped 4890.
nvidia;s gpu's always are better perfomaing than ati. I dont think fermi will disapiont. But as a 4870 owner and now 5870 fermi will probly kick 5870's but but hey i have a 5870 now and cheaper than fermi. I love ati. really when has nvida ever produced a single gpu that didnt kick ati's top card[ single gpu] ?

just my 2 cents

I think Nvidia's top GPU is losing now, and will continue to do so for another 4 months.

are you fucking serious this is the most blatant flame bait i have ever heard you need a vacation imo

this thread has me saying WTF, I mean first two sentences were so pro nvidia and than I have a hd 5870, wtf, I mean did you really have to start a thread about this, I can't believe I am posting in this thread. lol seems like you said you like ati just so that people don't call you a fanboy, good cover man.

9700pro > FXseries
X850 > 6800
X1950 > 7900
8800/9800 (nvidia finally has decent image quality) > 2900/3870 (What a piece of shit)
GTX2XX > 48XX
5870 > OH WAIT IT'S NOT OUT YET

Also in before the lock and I know I'm feeding the troll.

Okay, I'm back. Somebody wanted a troll?

Anyhow. nVida single cards, of the same generation as ATi cards, have been better as of the last two generations (I'm merging the 8000/9000), in sheer performance. Low ends... dunno. nVidia may of messed up this time.

ATi got the jump this time, and nobody knows how well/poor the nVidia card of this generation will be.

These two giants will never die, by the way. Too entrenched, too integrated.
Somebody has to screw up BIG time to see even a mere change in percentages.

Most people buy graphics cards for the long haul, so we'll see.

Good luck, and good night.

285 GTX is still pretty much on par with 5870

the difference is only a few frames (and maybe DX11)

i'm sure the 300 will kick major ass.

Not if the yields are only 1.7%.

(Psst. I'm making about as much sense as you are. ;))

Each nVidia generation of cards was a major step-up, i'm sure the 300 won't be a disappointment.

The fact that they are still hush-hush about it means nVidia is confident and the release will be HUGE.

not only gtx 285 is on par with 5870 but also gtx 260 or even 8800 series so ppl who buy 5870 are bunch of morons but hey lets keep it to ourself so we can enjoy everlasting power of nvidia gpus

I'm still sporting my GeForce 2 TI which is pretty much on par with the 5870 and in some games a few frames faster.

Well if that is what you want to think about Nvidia then you are welcome to it :) .

Nvidia is great at making driver updates that magically increase your benchmark rating without it being faster in games :) .

Nvidia has physx they are the only one with it , they must rock :)

Nvidia has a great insight of the future DX11 cards wont sell because they say so!

Nvidia has The way it was ment to be played , they are so cool :) .

I would be shocked if there card in 4 to 5 months time when it is available for the consumer not kick ATI's 5870 butt :) .

Go Nvidia !

You mean the X850 XT PE Paper Edition? IIRC the regular (actually available) X850 was slightly slower than the 6800 Ultra.

This thread just begs to be posted in. Damn I thought it would be A-tech's second account or something.

I think nvidia's "affordable" cards have always been better performers for the dollar, but I think ATI's top end cards seem to always have the edge the last few gens (except over nvidia's 8xxx release).. I just prefer nvidia because of the drivers, and I know ATI has supposedly fixed all the issues they use to suffer from but I still prefer nvidia. I tried out a 4870 1gb and sold it 3 days after installing it.

I think nvidia is in a tough situation right now because I figured their 2xx series would staya contender for a little longer than it has, but ATI has really made a great card with their 5xxx series. Hopefully fermi can contend and stay at a fair price.

I'm glad ATI\AMD is doing well because their processors are definitely way behind compared to Intel and they need anything they can get to keep their head above water.

"nvidia has always had the more powerfull [sic] gpu"

Sure they do. They always have the more powerful GPU unless ATI has it.
