Quad sli 280 GX2?
Is there a 2000W PSU???
Well, What Video card today will handle 2560 x1600 res and play high end games?![]()
LOL.... good luck bolting two of those beasts on one PCB.
If NV is lucky they will figure out a way to 1) get them on two PCB's or 2) make them work.
either way you are looking at 3-4 months
Hmmmm, I expect it will happen when they do a die shrink.
BTW, how is the power and heat for the previewed 4870x2? When does that 4870x2 come out for public use? Till then the GTX 280 is the king of the hill.
Also, what do you mean by making them work? NV has been in the SLI game forever. I think your fanboi attitude is getting in your way of intelligent thinking.
It's still a very uncertain maybe cause even the 55nm dies will remain relatively large and complex in comparison to the ATI's 48xx dies.after the die shrink they may be able to pull it off.

Besides it takes time and effort to design a dual-GPU card.
I don't think Nvidia will even bother cause the effort won't pay off.
Both companies are now concentrating on the 40nm parts due in spring/summer of next year.
10 cards were sent out. [H] was one that got 2.

This thing would have sufficient surfance area, and put off enough heat to literally cook a turkey and boil potatoes.
Using GDD5 would increase the cost over GDD3 but would allow higher memory speeds.
As to customer relations, working directly with game devs in their TWIMTBP program helps make sure the game takes advantage of their architecture.
Hi folks,
Is it true that there is going to be a Nvidia 280 GX2 to beat the 4870 GX2?
Because I am in the stage of upgrading my video card and I want a card that can support 2560 x1600 res and play high end games.
thanks![]()
Yes I agree. AMD does so wel because the offer more performance in the 150 to 250 range. There's no point for nv to waste more money just to be king of the hill this time. Nvidia should concentrate more on getting out more powerful 9800gt and 9800gtx replacements because the ones coming out are just die shrinks.

With that, making high-end not so in need.
If midrange can do the job well why spend more on overkill at a much bigger price.
A GTX260+ would be nice.Volume sales. And a GTX260+x2 if also going for the crown.
Because 2 GT200b on performance of GTX280 SLI would draw still around 375 to 425 Watts. That to much to be praktical and economical doable on a single card solution.
Game profiles that work at game release is more than just PR.Only REAL benefit of TWIMTBP is marketing
