Hi all, I have read the stickies from this website , other website, tried to figure out this problem these last two days. I give up, please advise.

Mobo: p7 P 55 D-E LX
CPU: i3 550 3.2ghz
GPU: Evga GTX 460
4 gig DDr3 1333
PSU : cooler master 650 W

I connected the 20+4 pins to the mobo, I conencted the 4 pins next to the CPU
I have connected both 6pins to the GPU
I have used 1 stick of Ram, on every DMMI
Pushed the Ram all the way down.
Pushed my GPU all the way down.
Checked CPU, no bent pins, installed it fine.

The PC turns on, fan spins on everything but No post.
It beeps one shortly after I turn it on...the led next to the DMMI slots turns on, then turns off
I hear another short beep, I hear my dvd rom spinning.
Tried both DVI port on the card with a VGA adaptater, got no signal.

Moved the cmos jumper, moved it back, took out battery, put it back.

I finally took it to a shop repair to have them check it out.
They told me the Mobo is defective because my Wireless Card I installed on it does not blink when the pc turns on. is that a sign that the mobo is defective?

Please help, I bought this at Micro Center and I can only exchange the mobo or CPU if they are defective.
Is this a compatibility problem? If so what cannot be compatible? I bought everything brand new. Thanks!
 
Do you know if the GPU works or not?

If you can exchange the mobo, go ahead and do that, tell them its defective and won't post. It does sound as if it is your problem.
 
The fan on the GPU spins, thats' all I can tel you..

There is no video signal from the monitor.

I tried two monitors and both didn't have signals.
 
What's the model number of your PSU?

As for the motherboard, if another video card does not work in that mobo, then more than likely that mobo is defective.
 
The gpu is getting power but, we don't know if it is working or not. It could be a bad video card or the PCI slot is bad. If you don't have anything else to test the gpu on then exchange the mobo. At least that will eliminate a mobo problem.
 
I just got a 460gtx for xmas.. The first one would not send a signal to the monitor.. Returning it to the store for an exchange fixed the problem.. Its possible the video card is DOA. Do you have any other PCI-E Cards you can try? Also on my old mobo an Asus A7N8X Deluxe REPLACING the battery on the mobo fixed that issue as well.. Those are 2 things you can attempt to try. Also most repair shops love to say the mobo is borked.. They want your money! :\..
 
Thanks for all the help. I did exchange the mobo, only to have the same result.

Still no post, when I hit the power button, the pc powers on, then shuts off..then powers on and stays on.

Fans are running.


For the mod, my PSU is a cooler master GX 650 W.

Does that help?

And I believe that computer shop didn't test anything , they just took my money and said the mobo was defective...what a week :(
 
Well even if the PSU isn't the issue. I would still recommend replacing that PSU as it it as a very low quality PSU. This would be a great replacement:
$64 - Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W PSU

As for your issue, try another CPU or GPU if you can.

And you are doing a stripped down setup correct? As stated in the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide?"
 
Problem fixed thank you.

Went to a friend's house , tried an older gpu, it posted.
Plugged in the GTX 460 it posted.
He has a new LCD screen with DVI output only.

I need to buy a more recent LCD screen to make it work with the GTX 460.

I am currently using an older gpu on my new comp until I can purchase a better LCD.

What monitor do you have? Do you have any adapters that you could use to run your monitor from the video card?

I'm with Tiraides. I'm no video guru but I've used those adaptors with no problem.

In your first post you tried the adaptor but maybe it's broken?
 
The monitors I've tried them on were " KOGI" 15 ' and a 17' one, both are 7 years old or so.

They were both VGA only, I've use an adapter DVI/ VGA and had no signal.



I thought the adapter was defective as well, so I got another one from a friend and I received the same result.
 
So your card isn't outputing an analog signal at all? strange. it should, at least on one of the ports.
