Saw it mentioned on Steam in Darkness 2 forums.

I just tested it with Darkness 2 and it seems to work like a charm. You save settings in the app, leave it minimized in the tray, get in the game, and follow his instructions. It's very easy. I hit the * button and watched that FOV pull back. Huge difference.

Included game plugins:
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
BioShock
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: World at War
Darkest of Days
The Darkness II
Ghost Recon
Halo
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
L.A. Noire
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 3
SEGA Rally Revo
Serious Sam 3: BFE
Singularity
SkyDrift
Sonic Generations
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Stranglehold
Unreal Tournament 3
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Wolfenstein

If this thing is stable and works for the games I own on that list I'll happily Pay Pal that guy some money and I'll hope he continues to support it and expand on it. Very promising in the early goings. I even see options for multiscreen situations and such.

You better believe I'm going to try it on Amalur next.

I've seen this before but then I realized it doesn't work for any games I play.

In the Totalbiscuit video on FOV, it constantly crashes. Is that resolved?

Also, the FOV slider in SS:BFE worked well, maybe you'd use it for eyefinity though

Tag so that I remember to use this for Amalur later, forgot about this program :D. I used to use it for NFS Most Wanted Black Edition.

I trust it worked well because otherwise you would have warned us otherwise? ;)

I didn't think much when I saw this post until I saw Mass Effect 3....ok I am definitely going to use this and buy ME3 if it supports it when it comes out :). Well, that is if they stop with the day one DLC bullshit.

Yes! It DOES work with Amalur. On this tool, the default for Amalur is 135. I turned it up to 150 and even that might be a little too much so ratch it up conservatively folks but so far it seems to work. :)

I don't have any widescreen issues with games. Am I missing something here?

yes you making a unnecessary complaint about something your not going to use. congrats.

Well I would use it. If I knew what the problem was. But since you cant give an example. Your unnecessary comment wasn't needed.

Many games have a very low FOV... this lets you correct it for your aspect ratio (i.e. wider) for both comfort and gameplay visibility.

Have you even clicked on the link in the very first post of this thread yet?

It's an FOV and in some instances outright "proper widescreen" fixer and adjuster for a slew of games that sorely need it. It works.

I guess I should have put FOV in the title, too.

I vaguely remember the guy who created the program posted here on [H] when he was just starting the project early last year and it only half-supported a couple of games and I vaguely remember him getting shot down for some reason or another (maybe the "that's the way the developers intended" crowd, I don't remember).

But yeah, nice idea for a program and I'm glad to see he's progressed with it.

Developers need to get into their thick moronic skulls that video game cameras need to be adjustable because there's no "one size fits all" set up. What one person finds a claustraphobically atmospheric low FOV another person might find a motion sickness inducing headache, and that's not even starting to take into account the plethora of potential screen sizes and sitting distances each of which might have a different optimal FOV.

In other words he got trolled and gangbanged by a bunch of ignorant loudmouths? That's too bad.

Agreed.

It shows how lame most of the excuses are when one guy out there can whip up a mod like this and make it happen and for a number of titles at the same time no less.

Can side scrollers be affected by a low FOV & do they even an FOV at all? I ask this since I've experienced motion sickness with a side scroller.

They don't have a field of view in the traditional sense (not one that can be measured in degrees or radians), but I can see how motion sickness could be an issue if the camera is situated too close to the character.

Blade Kitten's camera is a bit of a ways from the character but there's a lot of cut-off with the environment. It seems I got sick fast from the game not providing me the depth perception I require to gauge what I'm looking at correctly. I'm very visually-spatially oriented, so I'm not so sure if its my depth perception of the game or the game itself.

Might be a bit of both. I can see in some side scrollers I've played in the past where I wouldn't have minded pulling things back a little bit.

I hope that when I get around to playing A.R.E.S., it won't jack me up. I found that Sonic Generations doesn't bother me though.

On-topic, I'd say that I'll be testing out this app on Space Marine tonight.

Me, too. That's one of the "catch up" games I bought via this nice Amazon PC download sale:

I'm nearing the end of the game but I never paid attention to the FOV. I'm interested in seeing how it looks.

I have plenty of other games on my backlog that need beating... :)
