I think I read that EA hasn't made a Madden/NFL game for the PC for a few years now. Does anyone else make one?

Nope, EA stopped in 2008... because.... "drum roll"... of Piracy!!

Now with origin and their games "secured" ;) why not bring it back!!!!

I wish they would.... NFL/NCAA football would look magnificant on PC.

Dang it. That sucks. I recently moved my PC to my downstairs living room next to the TV, so I've been wanting to play some NFL game. Guess it's back to Madden 99 on the N64! Haha, or maybe I'll pick up a used 360 or something.

If EA loses their exclusive deal with the NFL, which looks possible now, I want 2K Games to make it.

Exclusivity FTL.

It is a silly game anyway. I mean even the name is inaccurate. The "ball" is not ball shaped, and play has almost nothing to do with one's feet. Of course, the National Hand-Egg League would face an uphill battle to be taken seriously.

Whatever, man. I was a punter in high school, so football makes sense to me! :p

And maybe it's going with this meaning of ball:
a large, usually lavish, formal party featuring social dancing
After all, there is (was) endzone dancing in the NFL, and it could be quite lavish!

Not from the US I take it? The name really means nothing to football fans, and you cannot call the game silly. I don't want to start a flame war, but what you can football (soccer to us) is waaaay less entertaining than american football. At least US football is exciting to watch, unlike soccer which is mind-numbingly boring. Just a bunch of dudes kicking a ball around over and over.

But anyway my real intention of posting is to ask about EA exclusivity on NFL games. It was mentioned that they might be losing that deal soon? I would love to hear more about this. I really miss NFL games on the PC, I also miss NFL2K games. Hopefully the NFL doesn't renew this deal with EA, we really need variety in football games. When there is no competition, there is no innovation. Madden never seems to get better.

My dad used to love the Madden games on PC. He loved to do the team management stuff and barely ever played the actual games. Even in 2008 (last one for PC) they stripped almost all of the team management out of the game, and there hasn't been anything similar since.

EA's exclusive with the NCAA is set to expire in 2014 and cannot be renewed for 5 years, their deal with the NFL is still on:

http://gamingillustrated.com/ea-reaches-27-million-settlement-keeps-nfl-exclusivity/

Electronic Arts reached a proposed settlement on a lawsuit that was originally filed in 2008 by consumers. The case claimed that EA violated antitrust and consumer protection laws by signing exclusive licensing agreements with the NFL, NCAA, and AFL and overcharged customers for the games.
The company will establish a $27 million fund to pay out to consumers that purchased Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or AFL games published by EA. Gamers who bought an EA football title from January 2005 to today are considered part of the class action lawsuit and are entitled to a portion of those funds.

As part of the settlement, EA will not be able to enter an exclusive rights deal with the AFL for five years and cannot renew its current agreement with the NCAA for at least five years. The agreement between EA and NCAA does not expire until 2014. The exclusive NFL license will remain unharmed.

AFL stands for Arena Football League and EA made some arena football games in 06 and 07.

I want my 6 seconds back!

Hell, I still game with Madden 2005, and 2k 2005. Probably the last, best Madden ever.

Yeah this. They are losing NCAA and AFL exclusive licenses once those deals expire. They will retain their monopoly on NFL. So in the end it probably won't hurt them much at all since they get to keep their breadwinner unchallenged.

Does this mean we might finally get college basketball video games again? The NBA 2k games have been pretty fun, so I definitely would love it if they ported a NCAA game to PC.

Even if EA still made sports games for the PC, I wouldn't buy them. I think up until the end the PC versions were based on the PS2 graphics engine which is why they looked weak compared to the 360/PS3 version. Being able to play in high-res helped some(though I don't think they had WS support, but could be wrong) they didn't have the better textures or visual effects of the other platforms.

And I'm still kinda upset at them killing off Papyrus' NASCAR series, even though I don't follow it anymore.

Since we're talking about sports games. I think it would be cool to have a really great wrestling game on PC. Old school wcw vs NWA n64 status.

Seems like an unnecessary thread necro...

But yeah, N64 wrestling games were a lot of fun.

Someone else necro'd 8 mins before me lol. Didn't even notice the OP date.

Ha ha I got excited and was researching that BCFX game for the last hour! Wonder if it runs on Win 8 64. It is Unreal Engine.

You have nothing but egg on your face responding so seriously when their entire post was a joke, lol.
