Bit-Tech said:
According to the latest issue of US magazine Game Informer, Wolfenstein will feature a more sandbox type of level structure and the game will be set in a free-roaming city, with new areas opening up as missions are completed.

The game is also set to showcase some rather decent AI in the form of a resistance force that will accompany the player throughout the story. The major gameplay element though is set to be a new mechanic called 'The Shroud', which will give the player the ability to interact with a darker, alternate reality version of the city.

Actually if you go back a year or so Carmack says that the next thing after the Doom 3 engine would be a totally new series indepenent from anything they had ever done before. I guess that will be the game to showcase his last new game engine as he has been quoted as saying "I think I have one more left in me" or something to that effect. If they were starting to work on it that long ago I'm sure its in development now.

Yea right, ID make something new, never happen. They know all to well that slapping the name quake, doom, or wolfenstein on a box will make it sell.

No, you're wrong. It's called Rage.

v57

only true RTCW geeks will know what that is

p.s. default keys :p

V51

Ahhhh..... the good old days of pre-defined quick chat commands. I can't believe I had pretty much every one of those memorized at one point in time.

If this new incarnation comes to fruition I'll probably be one of the first in line to get it. I spent 6 hours a damn day playing the Beach demo and probably at least that with the full version.

I could go for another 20-30 hours of gameplay of slaughtering zombie nazis.

I don't know why Wolfenstein doesn't get old. I guess it's because they space the games out so much. Maybe it's just because Wolf3D was the first shooter that just about every old school PC gamer played.

It would be nice if ANYONE would do something original anymore

Originality is statistically proven to not be a wise or profitable business decision.

Of course I have no data or proof to back up this statement but it sounds good doesnt it? :p

Haven't played Magic since I was in middle school (over 8 years ago), but that doesn't work on an enchantment, does it?

Actually, it would work. A spell is technically any card you play aside from lands. Summoning a creature or playing an instant, sorcery, or enchantment all count as spells.

X2. MP_beach is the most addicting multiplayer i've ever played.

MP_Beach, MP_Assault and MP_MarketGarden (Which was the first map ever put out by SPlash Damage, way before Wolfenstein:ET came out) were my 3 fav maps. I am very excited about playing this new version. RTCW was always a great multiplayer game. ALways fun using that Panserfaust to blow people up with all teh guts splattering all over the place!!!!!

Beach was fun, but my favorites as to be Destruction,Base, Assault, Trenchtoast, Chateau and some custom maps like Kung Fu Grip(best map for gold rush IMO), and wizerness. But my all time favorite is Destruction.

The panzer is fun and i love making people got SPLAT!!! but I'll like the venom more, I just like mowing down like 10 people in one whole clip.

I'm just not a fan of turning perfectly good games into mutant/zombie shooters half way through, it feels so tacky (see farcry). The screenshots look pretty bland to me and the lazer stuff just looks stupid with WW2 Axis standing there with MP40's.

i had some fun times playing kung fu grip. i also agree with everyone who mentioned assault, what a great map.

as much as i loved the first RTCW i have to agree with you here. it's disappointing to see 'laser' type weapons in the next RTCW.

But Wolfenstein came out way......way....before FarCry . Have you ever played a Wolfenstein game? The zombies have to do with the Nazi's diving into the paranormal and uncovering ancient powers , also the "lasers" are based upon tesla technology.

Seems pretty decent so far.

Wolfenstein™ – From id Software’s critically-acclaimed and multi-million unit selling Wolfenstein universe, which pioneered and defined the first-person action genre, comes the ultimate supernatural thriller. Set within a near-fictional, historical WWII setting, players take on the role of the heroic OSA agent BJ Blazkowicz as they are thrust into the unknown and unexpected to battle against combat troops, otherworldly forces, and the dark science created by a supernatural Nazi force hell-bent on world domination. Wolfenstein offers players an action-packed experience as they investigate the powers of a dark parallel dimension, join with resistance forces, and employ an arsenal of conventional and otherworldly weapons in attempts to annihilate the Nazi war machine. Ensuring a deep variety of action, Wolfenstein provides gamers with an assortment of interlinked missions that drive an intense, story-driven combat experience; while the Wolfenstein multiplayer experience continues the world-renowned tradition of class-based team objective gameplay with a full arsenal of conventional and supernatural weapons for addictive online warfare. (Xbox 360™, PS3, Windows® PC).

wolfenstein was the first ever FPS ive completed the storyline, so this brings back memories... but sharper!

I think that is a "tesla gun" in those screenshots where it looks like a laser.

yeah, that was mentioned after the 'laser' comments were made. even if it's historically accurate (or even possible, i didn't feel like reading the wiki: Nikola Tesla) i would prefer if they left that stuff out. i still enjoyed the crap out of the first RTCW despite the goofy stuff like zombies etc.

I soooo want another RTCW game. I played the hell out of both the single player and later RTCW:ET. Still haven't found a multiplayer shooter as fun as RTCW:ET.

ET:QW was a terrible terrible dissapointment, and i so wanted to like it.

I can't believe you guys remember the "v" commands.

I don't, and let me tell you I played a lot of rtcw.

I bet I could relearn em quick though ;)
