New TF2 Update

I don't understand why gamers are so ridiculous and dramatic.

"They changed the menu, but not the actual gameplay at all -- TF 2 IS DEAD I QUIT"

This happens anytime, well.. anything happens.

THE MENU IS THE DOWNFALL OF VALVE. Haha, I love it.
 
Hey, I don't like the new menu either. TF2's old main menu screen is very simple, elegant, and the artwork actually looks nice. (I've left menu screen on my desktop for hours on end- and it just looks right in a "classic" sense) But the new menu is nowhere near a deal breaker for me. The gameplay is *exactly the same* as it was prior to the Mac update.

Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous.

My reaction was simply "Huh, they changed the menu". Then joined a server.

And it is quite funny how entitled gamers feel regarding TF2. I've seen posts that literally say:

"I'VE PUT 300 HOURS INTO TF2, BUT IM QUITTING BECAUSE OF THESE GOD DAMN HATS. FUCK YOU VALVE".

This, for a game that's been on sale for $2 several times, has had multiple free weekends and is still receiving free content years after release.

Free content doesn't necessarily mean good content.
 
After years I just checked TF2 out again (nothing really beats to go after a guy with a virtual baseball bat), but I am disappointed to see that one can't sort servers by ping anymore. Is there any way to mod that in? It seems like a major oversight to have to scroll through all the servers to find the ones with lower pings.
 
I personally have not played TF2 in a long time (over a year) but all the updates since then haven't done anything to spur my interest. Maybe they have a vanilla server option, I'm not sure but just wouldn't be the same I guess.

absolutely.

there are many servers that only use the base weapons (and no crits).

I personally like the newer items for most classes, but it is fun playing the original game every once in a while
 
If anything letting the Mac users stand out and giving them cool exclusive freebies is an awesome idea. Just like the Demo/Soldier update where Valve tried to create some competition between classes now Valve is creating competition between different OS users.

Imagine all the hate/jealousy being put on the people running around with headphones right now. I've already heard stories of people not healing Mac users and such. If anything I'm tempted to log on and try to hunt down as many of them as possible :)

I haven't looked at the server list in a while but it should list it. Do you have that stupid picture mode or whatever they use? Just switch it back to the regular list view.
 
it took me a few minutes to learn the new interface, but it's not like i spend a whole lot of time on that screen anyway. i'm too busy pwning some of you noobs out there complaining in this very thread! :p

The new interface doesnt take long to adjust to.. like maybe 30 seconds or so. Other than that.. the game is exactly the same lol.

Rage inducing earbuds ftw!

I think it might have been Teen, I could be wrong though lol. I dunno why people fuss over them, but its fun to use them and people just start raging.

Don't mean to shoot you down myelin. But what's not pictured here is the fact that you were probably on that server for like 6 hours and on team stack. No need to be ashamed though.

Also, what do you think the odds are that someone I play on a tf2 server with, who I've never met, also frequents the same forum site? I'd say not that likely.

EVERY TIME a TF2 update thread appears you have the usual haters finding the most minor knitpick thing to start bitching about how they quit TF2 because it's going on the 'wrong direction' and how Valve ruined it etc etc. when really they just got bored of the game but must attempt to justify themselves by using the Updates as a scapegoat.

And everyone ignored the fact that they removed console commands and broke a lot of mods on purpose.

mat_picmip -10 is the main one some others too but there isn't really a list.

They did break prophunt but made a special exception for it and fixed it. The changes were made to break hat mods. The new restrictions will keep many modders from making new games modes and many mods still remain broken.

the engineer is one of my most played classes, but over the years it's become a little stale... especially if you're playing against a team that turtles (at least in CTF maps). It can either be incredibly boaring or incredibly frustrating :D
 
The new menu isn't that bad. From what I can tell they added stuff, not taken it away. Oh and I love the ear-buds. That way I know I just owned some super-hip-totally-awesome guy ... Who was most likely really wearing ear-buds. :p:D
 
I had my friend log into my account from a mac...

That way I make people feel bad because they just got owned by a "mac user"...

I call them trollbuds.
 
I think about a million PC users managed to get the earbuds. Tons of people giving their login info to someone with a Mac. I made some adjustments to OSX 10.5.8 installed on VMware and got them that way, heheh.

I need to upgrade to a quad-core to keep up with the demands of the game.

Ah, never thought of trying to load OSX on VMware. But then again. I don't really want gay earbuds for my characters.
 
Gay earbuds? The game has more hats than a Castro St haberdashery and you think that the earbuds are gay?
