New Silverstone FT02

Sadly I can't seem to track down a version with the new AP181's in/around Toronto. ++++ is out of stock, and the one's Canada Computers have are too old. :(

NC1X should have nothing but new FT02s with AP 181s. If you can check in store it's super easy to find them, otherwise you can order online and it's almost guaranteed to have them, I ordered one for the markham warehouse a couple months ago and it came with Ap181s so all the new stock should have them.

CC here had some FT02-W with the AP181s, so I would think toronto would too.

Anyone running Optical Audio ? Is the recess for the audio deep enough to not force a 90 degree turn?

NC1X is out of stock currently, which is the problem I'm running into. You've given me hope that if I do order one for pickup from FMP that it'll be new stock though, so I may go that route.

I've called around to the CC's in my area that have stock and they've been kind enough to check the boxes for me. All old stock sadly. V1.3s and a 1.4. (Window)

I'll get my hands on a FT02 soon enough one way or another!

Is this still the go-to case for cool AND quiet air? I've seen a couple people able to mount rads in the bottom of the case and switch to water, will I have clearance issues doing that with GTX570's? I'm on air now and want something able to cool as effectively as my antec1200, but want something quiet, water may or may not happen.

xpresscanada have them in stock and the shipping is cheap. No idea if they have new stock or old stock. If you find out, let us know.

EDIT: Generally speaking, how quiet is this case? I'm coming from my old Antec P180 and I need a new case. I just installed a 250mm side fan and it's far too loud now for my liking.

Ended up grabbing one from NC1X, and it indeed is the AP181 stock. Seems they got around 6 of the FT02B-W into the Markham warehouse this morning, 3 were showing still when I went to pickup mine.

I suspect one or two may have been shipped to the FMP location rather than picked up by people, but I'm not certain.

I'll be coming from a P182 E^vol so I can let you know how loud it is within the few days if no one else can provide a comparison.

Good to hear you found one (and with the AP fans). And thanks for the sound comparison, hope you enjoy the new case.

I just got the windowed version of the fortress from Amazon. I got this for my Sandy Bridge build. This case is much bigger than I thought it would be. I can't wait to put my new computer together.

Just ordered for my SB build. Any recommendations on PSU for about $100?

Holy crap - one of the AP181 fans (the middle one) on my two week new FT02 just blew up in my case! Weird whirling noises starting coming from my computer out of nowhere and it freaked me out - I thought my whole computer was going to explode so I shut it down ASAP. Turned it back on to pinpoint the noise and it was the middle fan spinning very abnormally until two of the blades just snapped off. It was 4:55pm and I got on the phone to Silverstone hoping some diligent soul was still in the office that late on a Friday evening (yeah right!) and no one answered. I'm sure they'll replace it for me when they open back up on Monday but luckily I have some extra FN181's around to use until then.

Weird stuff. What the heck, Silverstone???

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Seems more like an unfortunate freak accident than any QC issues though.. :/.

Edit - On a sidenote, has anyone replaced the top 120MM fan with something else and found it worth it? I've got a Noiseblocker M12-P fan as well as a Yate Loon 1350RPM fan I could swap the Silverstone 120MM with, but I'm not entirely certain it's worth doing...

I remember someone doing a comparo of the stock fan vs a higher flow fan and it didn't make much if any difference at all.

I think it's your house yenn. Everything you have there explodes...like your classified...lol.

LOL - it could very well be that the house is built on an ancient Native American burial grounds! Weird thing is I'm super anal about my stuff so I certainly don't abuse anything. But I'm happy to say that after that smoking Classified incident, the replacement board has been running perfectly ever since.

I'm really thinking about throwing a Thermalright Shaman on my 6950 but with all of the reports of certain aftermarket coolers not working well in this case I'm a little concerned.

DON'T worry!!!!!!! I have a Sapphire 5850 toxic that doesnot have the shroud and only vent outside. My card is idling at 33C right now with the fan @ 21% (as low as it can go). I have never once seen it get over 52C, even with a full day of gaming. But the real advantage is I never hear the damn thing, it is SILENT. I was worried too, but frankly it isone of the best decisions I made because my case is cool AND quiet.

Hope that helps.

Do H70's fit in these cases alright? I'm looking for a quieter alternative and cooler if possible to my antec1200 and this seems to be the way to go.

If not, I'll probably just wait till i change processors to sandybridge and just get a nnoctua heatsink or something.

I have a FT01 and since I happened to be back there swapping out my mouse I noticed a strange sound from the fan...sounds like my top 180mm is going bad. Only reason I would've thought about it at all is this thread. I'll give them a ring to see if they can do anything for me.

It looks like the toxic heatsink is shaped like the first heatsink in that picture. The spitfire is shaped like the last heatsink when vertical which is the only option that does not cover any memory chips. It also didn't do very well in this review. On the other hand I have heard that the Accelero does well in this case but that review says differently.

I wish that I had not sold my old HR-03 GTX with my last video card. I would really rather not use the Spitfire and from the looks of things the Accelero Xtreme Plus looks too long to fit in the case.

I'm having a really hard time trying to decide which air cooler to get with this case. I wanted the silver arrow but now it just seems like overkill as I saw someone passively cooling with a Venomous X or Megahalems if I recall. I have a 2600K and ASUS P8P67 Pro.

I think it would be great to passively cool with a Mega or VenX and then not have any memory blocking issues BUT I will be overclocking so that's probably not feasible. I'm thinking I can put a fan in PULL configuration so that the coole still won't block any memory. Any input from case owners?

Just imho but Spitfire seems like the safest bet. I only wonder if it can be fitted with heatsink in the direction of 5,25" cages since it needs almost 16 cms from topmost PEG slot.

Yep they fit just fine.

Thanks, I'm actually going to go to air and grab a noctua NH-D14 and replace my h70. I just hope it doesn't conflict with my ram.

This is one of the quietest air cases right? Does having window or not matter if I want it as silent as possible?

I found a used HR-03 in the classifieds. I always liked the how it looked and performed on my GTX280.

Well I just got my second FT02 today, this one came with the AP181, they move a lot of air but are so noisy on high I run them on low most of the time. For a quite setup I find the older fans win over these AP181's, unless I happened to get three dud fans somehow.

I rock the slow fans too, no need for high.

I run my PC most of the time with the top off, I'm too lazy to put it back on and I want the access to the ports. On one hand, its easier than reaching behind the back on normal cases, but on the other hand, it's not as pretty that way. Does anyone else fall into this, leaving the top off all the time?

Now that my PC is "done" I find myself not caring as much about the details as I once did. The project is over for me, I'm just going to keep my 6870 card now, I can't see a need to upgrade like I was planning to the 580 or 6970. It runs games just fine as is. I will buy a Blu Ray Drive and a 320 Intel G3 SSD, but that's it. Oh and I want a new keyboard.

Oh, and anyone ever type in the address for this site an missed the "M" on "hardforuM" by accident. The address then takes you to pornographic site. That's crazy.

I never bother with any stock 120mm fan, I always use 1850RPM GTs :)

sundialmicro will be able to order right from fresh stock. yes the fans do make a difference. LoL, nobody reads threads this size I guess, old answers in this thread.

Well my Lamptron FC4 got delivered Today. It looks good and compliments the case but it almost didn't fit. I really had to use way too much force to get that baby in there. It slid into my Antec 1200 just fine.

Hmm does anyone know if GPU coolers with vertical heatpipes work normally when rotated 90 degrees?

Accelero-Xtreme-Plus-18-300x199.jpg

And also would 290mm long Accelero fit inside this case ? (altrough i guess that if 12,25" 5970 fits then it shouldn't be problem)

I can't speak for every one out there, but I have the Accelero Extreme GTX Pro on my GTX285 and it works awesomely, at stock clocks the core temp in Furmark doesn't go above 55c. Also see the pics for how it fits.

I FINALLY got my LIMITED EDITION Red FT02!!! And some nifty new Sandy Bridge parts (specs in sig) so here's my new setup as of today. The Dominator GT's prevent me from using the normal push/pull config on my Prolimatech so I'm looking to get a Corsair H70 to replace it soon. I really like the red interior compared to the black.
