So, I am not crazy!!!! Even on my 4090, at 4K, I felt like 3 of my games performed much worse on this driver set with the nvidia app vs. GFE!!! For example, FH5, could play 4K, fully maxed, DLAA, locked at 144 FPS (monitor refresh rate). After the "upgrade", dips into the 110's~120's, I even turned frame Gen on to smooth it out.
So can confirm... its the drivers, NOT the app. I uninstalled the app, installed 566.14 drivers, then installed the app by itself, performance is much better. COD BO6 is WAY up to what it used to be, STALKER 2 is up about 10%, Forza 5 is like 15% better (if not more). Going back to 566.36 drivers, fucks it all up all over again.... So, sticking with 566.14 drivers with Nvidia APP is OK. Not going to try 566.36 with GFE as it is on its way out anyway.

Manuel on the NVIDIA forum said they're looking into performance regressions with the newest driver.

Too long didn't have time to watch? Turn off the filters under Nvidia App, Settings, Features, Game filters and Photo mode: off

Problem solved until Nvidia gets a fix in, as they are aware of it (unlike for their Dolby Atmos audio problems that have plagued that somewhat niche community for quite a few years now).

its only 12min...
got that on the AMD side too, spent a recent weekend figuring it out, bumping the gpus minimum frequency seems to fix it. not sure if/how you can do that on the nv side though....

What Dolby Atmos audio issues are we talking about exactly? I know my system loves to randomly drop HDMI audio here and there (toggling to/from stereo to 7.1 or Atmos brings it back), but it seems to do that whether my output is set to Atmos, 7.1, 5.1, DTS, or whatever else. I kinda figured it was my AVR to blame.

anything with low gpu usage causes atmos/dtsx audio drop outs, ie watching a movie or streaming something. does it on both straight hdmi or with a dp-hdmi adapter/cable unless i bump the minimum gpu freq in the tuning section of the amd software. seems to be an issue since 2019/20, but i only just found it after upgrading my avr.

yap geforce experience also lowered performance as well. Why I never used it.

I'm still old school.

When I run a game absolutely nothing is allowed to run in the background. I kill everything in the task bar, and never use a screen overlay.

Habits gained in the marginal single core CPU with megabytes of RAM era die hard.

(it helps that I have never once had the temptation to screen record or stream anything. Like seriously, why would you ever do that?)

Nah, I just use my 9800X3D as the audio source now. No issues with it, and it's been great. Using a DP to HDMI cable from the motherboard to the receiver as that was the very last thing that I tried with the 4090.

With my 4090 FE (and RMA replacement), I'd get audio dropouts, audio going robotic, and audio doubling in volume. Sometimes it would happen while sitting there watching a show on YouTube or VLC with no user inputs, other times it would happen when alt tabbing with an audio source playing.

It only happened when using Dolby Atmos, and not with standard 5.1 or Stereo modes. No issues with an EVGA 3090 FTW3, but it seemed more prevalent for folks with 30 series cards.

Again, using my 9800X3D (and previously a 7800X3D) for the Dolby Atmos audio source completely fixed it.

I am the exact same way. I close everything down except Discord and Steam. I dont want anything running in the background.

Those have integrated GPUs that are used for the audio just like I did with an Nvidia 4090 FE and 3090 FTW3 and 2080 Super and 1080 Ti.
its an apu, its not a gpu and does not have the same issues.

Sure, whatever you say.

Whatever you want to call the graphics processor that is internal to the 7800X3D and 9800X3D, it can and is used as as audio source for my setup. Using it right now for Dolby Atmos and it doesn't mess it up like a 4090 FE does when used as a Dolby Atmos source.

I always used to close everything and kill off extra processes and whatnot when gaming, but working from home killed that. During most of my gaming sessions I end up having Teams, Chrome, Adobe CC, and potentially even a productivity program or two open. I have to be able to go from gaming to working pretty quickly. It rarely matters, too. If I'm playing something especially power-hungry it might be less than ideal, but it's pretty rare. Kind of like when Linus did all of those tests with computers laden with bloatware and they barely performed any different with most games.

nice ninja edit.
this isnt rocket surgery. one is a cpu with integrated graphics, the others are stand alone add in graphics cards, completely different things to put an image on your screen. one had the issues, the other doesnt, as you have shown....
this is ot anyways so....

Dunno what your issue is, don't care.

Merry Christmas!

you shouldn't need to manually update DLL files anymore.
Shouldn't being the key word there. Stalker 2 is allowing only updating FG, but not SR. Resorted to NVProfileInspector/DLSS Swapper for that, and it works.

A new feature called Smooth Motion was also added which infers an additional frame between two rendered frames to smooth out gameplay (this is not like frame generation).
And limited to 50 series only.. at least for now. A 5060 can use this but not a 4090?

What version of nvidiaprofileinspector are you using? Mine crashes with the new driver update. I assume you are using one of the forks?

TBH I didn't even know there was forks. I just googled it and grabbed this one. https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/

Followed this video for what to change.

So this method DOES work, however, if you still have the nvidia app installed, it will reset the settings when you exit the game, and you have to set it all again in nvprofileinspector. One way around this is to set your profile to "Read Only" after the changes (annoying if you want to make changes). OR uninstall the nvidia app.

Another method is basically the DLSS swap, but using the absolute latest that came with the driver package. I can confirm this method WORKS with default preset K everytime. Obviously, YMMV per game, and you might want to use the overrides for MP games that might somehow flag DLSS.dll files with the anticheat, but so far, no issues in games I have tried.

I have a 3090 and I had to use DDU to remove my driver/Nvidia software, then re-install the 572.16 + Nvidia app driver to get the DLSS override option to become active in the Nvidia app; I'm not even sure that was the source of me not being able to enable that feature for some games considering I'm seeing that they apparently have a whitelist. I have been using NVCleanstall to install drivers, so I wonder if something about that might've contributed to the problem.

Just throwing that out there for anyone that might not be seeing the override options available in any games. I tried refreshing and simply re-installing the driver before using DDU.

I also had to use DDU to get any of it to work in the app.
