Very nice, we are developing quite a community of G34 boxen here.

Welcome to the [H]orde!

Yeah. Hey Kendrak, wanna start the SR2 (Still Rockin Too) Club?

These youngsters and their newfangled quaddies. Get off my lawn. :p

1.8's will get you around 950K ppd on 6903s. Anything faster should break 1M ppd. Either way, it is one heck of a lot of production out of the gate! Welcome to the team!

Really... oh... you mean between the 2 machines... oki....

Yeah, two machines. Although now that I think about it, my two only get around 450K ppd each, so the toal is somewhat less than 900K ppd.

so i finally started one of my 4p rig yesterday. i have 6174's on it cooled with noctua's on it.

first wu i got was a 6900 with 7.40 TPF . this seems kinds slow to me. i saw others getting 6.59 TPF. don't know what i am doing wrong. i have 16gb CAS 9 ECC memory on it. cheapest i could find. do i need to tweak the bios or something. i haven't done anything till now.

then i started getting 6903's for like 10 times but they all errored out after downloading because Mr. Kraken didn't seem to like them and kept on deleting them and downloading again. Kraken was throwing some FF error msg. so i killed the session deleted everything and reinstalled fah and kraken.
now i have a 6900 again.

so i am noob on linux and trying to figure out sensors pkg, i tried muskys post but every time i run sensor command all i get is ALARM on everything and all my fans show zero rpm.

BTW do i need to upgrade the bios on both the boards? i just installed ubuntu on one till now.

need some help guys...

Do you have node interleaving enabled in bios? If not you should as that makes a big difference for the better.

Ok i enabled Node Interleaving to AUTO and wow my TPF just went down to 6.42 from 7.40. Thanks R-Type!!

does anyone have a bios tweaks screen shot document for these SM 4p boards?

Pj might not for this but in his reviews for servethehome.com ...

There is a large speed benifit to running numa on (bios setting interleaving off) along with kraken ...

for Sr-2s and others the BFS kernel also gives improvements...
However BFS will slaughter amd 4p performance... please stay away.

as far as temp sensors... I use TPC (turion power control)
its rather complicated but I can check temps whenever I please... it can be set to refresh...but I prefer to have no background tasks running...

Might I ask what Distro and version are you using?
on the ubuntu front 11.04 seems more problematic and slightly slower on the tpf....

i am using 11.04 desktop, could not find 10.10 version for download.

so should i turn OFF node interleaving?? i do notice now my TPF went up one more min now.

i guess the previous one min gain did not last. now its back up to 8.40 TPF. man this is crazy.

Ah, I could have sworn it was on for linux and off for Windows... Patriot definitely has more experience with it than me though. Musky or pj are the best ones to ask...

Node interleaving disabled = NUMA enabled = what you want for your 4p. You also do NOT want the BFS kernel, and you do want the Kraken wrapper. Ubuntu 11.04 should be fine, although you can fine 10.10 HERE if you do want to switch. Staying with 11.04, I would advise upgrading to the 2.6.39 kernel - http://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/how-to-update-ubuntu-11-04-kernel-to-2-6-39-0/. I believe it has some perfomance enhancements, mainly that it doesn't start a bunch of kworker deamon all the time.

One other thing; make sure you are running the -smp 48 flag and not just -smp. It sounds like you are, but I want to make sure.

Lets us know where you end up. You should definately be running faster than your are now.

i just use -bigadv -smp

i will switch to -bigbeta -smp 48 and see how it works..

ok switched to -bigbeta -smp 48 and also updated the kernel.

but TPF still remains the same 7.40.

maybe my cheap (16gb samsung ram) 1gb dimms are really crappy...or i forgot some other setup.

Are your processors 100% loaded? Do you have Kraken installed? I highly doubt your ram is the problem - both mine run on the cheapest Kingston ValuRam I could get. Your frame times are almost identical to my 6166's, so it sounds like you don't have your procs loaded 100% for some reason.

I might have missed it in this thread, but you finished 10 SMP units with your passkey already right?

What slots are the dimms in?

not being in quad channel will kill tpf...

yes Kraken is installed.
