Hi, I just finished installing the hardware to my new computer. It seems to post fine and the bios recognizes the hardware.

When I went to install windows 7 i got errors and it would hang for 3min and then contiue the install and hang again and then continue. One of the errors was a blue screen with various addresses "Stop: 0x00000007e(0xfffffff....."
"NTFS.sys Address......" It also said to make sure I have enough disk space and that I have the latest bios verion.

I thought I messed up the bios settings so I reset them to the defaults and now it says "BOOTMGR is missing" and won't boot at all.

Asus Rampage II Extreme
12gig ram
blue ray burner
Intell SD

Sounds like a hard drive or RAM issue. Hit up the Troubleshooting guide on what to do

Yep, that would be my first suspects as well. Run memtest overnight and if it passes run a full surface scan on the HDD.

I don't think its the hd. I was having trouble installing before it was writing to the disk. I'm hoping its just an outdated bios and not the ram... I don't have any blank cds too write the bios to. I guess tommorow I will have to remove a drive from my working computer and try to update the bios that way.

Need to check hard drive transfer speeds and see if buffer has gone south

It would hang for a few min but once it started copying files from the disk it went fast but when it reached the end it gave an error and said installation cannot continue. I have the power connector on the same cable for both the blu ray drive and sd could that cause interferience?

If it were me, I'd be trying the install with 1 stick of RAM.

Unless you're doing something extremely RAM intensive 12GB is overkill.

Try with 1 stick and go from there.

You may need to do some RAM parameter adjustments after the install.

Well it was easy to solve the problem but I still don't know what the cause was.

- Put the sd in my old computer and windows failed to recognize it and gave me a blue screen which vanished before i could read it. The bios recognized the drive though.

- Updated the bios to the new computer's mobo.

- Tried installing Windows 7 again. It still would pause a few times for a couple of min but this time it installed without any errors.

- Ran the IntelBurnTest for 5 passes using 11131 or the 12000 megs of ram and it passed without any errors.

Computer seems to be running fine so far. Windows takes only 7 sec to load(no wonder they call it windows 7 ;) ), much faster then on my old computer. I think it's a windows install issue with the blank ssd.
