I was driving by CompUSA and saw the store's closing down and everything's 50% off. I went in and got my self a cooler master case for $25:D What do you guys think of this case???

ok transfered all the parts. I really like this case:D

Thats a centurion 5, which is one of the best budget cases out there (in my opinion). Excellent price on that too!

Awesome price!

I might pick up a Cooler Master Ammo.

(Jeez... I need to decide on a case.)

I am not a huge fan of the case, but for $25 you can't beat it.

I like the look of that case, might have to look into one for my next build. Great score none the less.

Looks nice!

I had used one of those cases for a build for my friend. Great case, especially if youre on a budget!

And 25 bucks!!! Rad!!

$25 for that case is a great deal. I got one from newegg for $45 or so for my father and thought that was a good deal. Great budget case.

I've got the case, and I love it. Aside from the size (it's a bit cramped and cable management is a bit difficult) and the front 80mm intake (something which can be compensated for with a simple mod), it's perfect for me. Easy to work in, aesthetically pleasing, and great airflow.

Even though that p5b is a black pcb, it looks brown :( I just spent the last hour or two re-coloring everything on mine so it's either black or blue. Those red parts really irk me

the only thing that I didn't like about that case was that little CM tag on the front. Once I removed it and replaced it with a square 1x1 case sticker, it looked alot better. Aside from that, good deal. Good ventilation to boot. I still have mine in the corner waiting for some modding.

Im gonna be adding some blowhole on this case :D

I picked one of these cases up for my kid's computer...it was hard for me to not keep it for myself and pass my old one down to them...but I resisted.

They are nice cases, and I saw a mod done here on the Hardforums where a guy mounted his rad in the drive bays since the front of the case is just mesh and it worked out real nice. It left him with one drive bay left at the top.

I agree with him on this. Don't like those plastic tab things over the PCI slots, and I'm not a fan of the plasitc parts that mount the drives(call me old fasion but I like normal screw in setups). Front doesn't do it for me either. But if you(OP) are happy with it then enjoy. Besides I'm sure it is better then most cases in that range.

I don't know about how the ones in the Centurion 5 are, but the Stacker 830 uses plastic "locking" mounts for the 5 1/4 drives, and I can honestly say that while I usually like to simply screw my drives in, the locking mounts are nice. The plastic used is heavy-duty, and it readily retains the drives in place.

Most of the time they seem to work fine. The cheaper cases that try to do it piss me off. I also just don't like how they look(yea I know they are in a case, not on the outside). I also never liked mounting rails. Really didn't like how a lot of antec/cheiftec/whatever had it where you pulled them though the front without removing the front first. Just thought it looked like crap. I guess I prefer the simple setup over the tooless setups.

The plastic retention mechanism actually pushes a metal bracket into the drive mounting holes to secure it, and is very solid. The rear brackets are fine for normal PCI cards, but for heavier cards like video cards, large drive controllers, etc., a screw is necessary.

looks good, as some others have said I hate those plastic clip things for the 5.25" bays.....I am in the process of removing them in my TT Armor case, and using black screws. To each his own, $25, great price, bottom line

Well, You have an option to use regular screws for heavier card. They added holes to put your screws in ;)

yeah I hate those too, but I was talking about the ones for the drive bays

Excellent cable management.

I can never understand how people get their wiring this goddamn neat. It's unbelievable how clean some of the systems are out there (especially in those "post pics of your machine" threads) with wiring that somehow disappears.

They cut holes in the mobo tray and route the cables under the mobo and through the holes.

I just fold my IDE cables. It may not look as clean, but at least it's neat and it prevents airflow blockage, so I get nice airflow in my Centurion.

Thats what I do, as I've never been handy enough/ cared enough to go balls out. However, if you are able to do it, more power to you!

I was thinking of buying this case, but I went with the Lian Li cause it was sleeker and the CM had the ugly silver stuff... If it was black I'd buy it, but I'm not too much of a DIY on case modding yet.

that's what I had before I got the Stacker

built my friends PC in the C5 though

The Stacker is like the big brother to this case. Essentially the same concept and design, just a lot bigger.

haven't stuck anything other than the PSU i nthere yet, and sleeve the fan cables.
i know i need red heatshrink, but i couldn't get to the hardware store.

Pro tip, sanchez: Turn the fan 90 degrees clockwise. That way, the fan tail will be sticking straight down in the gap between the 7 pci slots and the case side.
Pro tip 2: your speaker isn't connected
Pro tip 3: if you do use the ferrite ring, use it as far away from the wire ends as you can. It won't pull the connectors out of your board.

For a large case, they aren't bad at all. I built a clients PC in one the first week they became available a couple years ago. You can't beat the price you paid!
