Just so you can see what I'm upgrading from; this is what I've been using for the past 4 years.

Q6600 @ 2.4ghz (lol Dell)
4 GB corsair dominator
HD 6850

This will be my first PC build :D

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Photoshop CS5.1, Dreamweaver, Live streaming webcam/game simultaneously (WoW, Diablo3, Dota2, though we have no idea how resource intensive these games will be)

I will regularly have ~10 chrome window, and skype open while working(ps+dw) or when gaming.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

700-850$ shipping included(though I can budge a bit if necessary), no sales tax here.

3) Where do you live?

Delaware

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

Case, CPU, RAM, Mobo, PSU, SSD, DVDR, (maybe GPU? you tell me)

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

I have a HD 6850 from my current PC, just bought this in march when my HD 4890 was overheating and I didn't want to wait for it to go back and forth through the mail before I could use my computer again lol.

I will also use my 2 extra HDDs that are in my current computer, for FRAPS/movies/music/graphic work.

6) Will you be overclocking?

I would like to, since I heard it's incredibly easy with the new CPUs' that are out :)

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?

I have a 24" @ 1920x1200, I will buy another 23 or 24 eventually. (i will only play games on 1 monitor)

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

1 or 2 weeks at the latest

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.

I think SATA 6Gb/s would be nice to have.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

As for replacing your GPU, is your HD 6850 currently meeting your needs in the games you're playing right now? Or do you want higher settings, higher FPS, or both?

The only game I play right now is WoW, and it handles it fine. I would like to be able to play with higher FPS when in more crowded areas. A lot of people tell me that a better cpu will help more with that. I suppose I will hold off on a GPU, unless i'm not satisfied.

You don't think the i7 is worth the extra 100$?

The i7 is worth the extra 100usd if livestreaming is really resource intensive, however, it's not going to do much for normal gaming.
 
For your needs, the i7-2600K isn't worth the money.

For another case option, the Cooler Master HAF 912 is still a pretty good choice. Most, if not all of the cases in Danny's list has free ground shipping, but that HAF 912 at around $68 shipped isn't bad.
 
The 6850 is most definitely going to meet your needs. An i7 is not worth the money as there is no difference when it comes to gaming, so a 2500k is the best choice. If you really, really feel the need to upgrade your gpu go for another 6850 as the ATI 6xxx series have seriously good scaling. Otherwise, wait for the new 7xxx series to come out and pick up another one when they're cheaper.
 
The Core i7 processors are generally recommend for heavy multi-threaded operations such as video editing, 3D graphics editing, or running multiple virtual machines (VMs) at the same time. Though Photoshop and Dreamweaver gain a slight performance bump with the i7-2600K over the i5-2500K, I don't believe that the performance boost is significant enough to justify the added cost.
 
I'm curious as to why the Lancool PC-K57 is being skipped over on your case lists, Danny Bui. I ordered the windowless version (out of stock right now) a couple nights ago. Looks solid and the two reviews I found are good. (not criticizing at all; just wondering if you had a significant reason for excluding it)

Not a bad case at all from a performnace, case management, airflow, or space standpoint. It just looks really really ugly to me. Well the front portion anyway. Hence why it isn't in my case list now. :D Key word "now". That case may grow on me one of these days.

Funny, it's looks are actually what made me stop and take a closer look. :) It's good to hear there's nothing wrong with it practically speaking.
 
Just now getting around to buying everything. Going to order everything when I get back home later tonight.

I missed out on a little discount, but it's no real big deal I guess.

I would ditch that 750TX V2 as it's jumped up significantly in price. I recommend this PSU:

Go with Danny's recommendations in post #7 save for the PSU (look at his most recent post).

I also suggest choosing one of the cases that Danny recommended in that post.
 
Got my parts on Wednesday, and put everything together yesterday. Surprisingly to myself, there were no real hiccups at all for my first build.

Only thing that was annoying was getting all of the cables where I wanted them. I got the Cooler Master CM690 II Advance

Going from q6600 at stock speed to a 2500k is ridiculous. I would get ~12 fps when streaming WoW before; now I can't even notice that I have the stream running. I don't usually spend more than a second or two on loading screens now with the SSD. I love it. :D
