There will be no over clocking because this is for a non-techy friend who wants to spend 2000 on a new computer. My only concern is the PSU, however I don't think it will be a problem because I am not over clocking. The rest on the money goes to a 24 inch monitor.
Your thoughts?

Looks good to me. You did your research well. What will your friend be doing with this new rig?

That power supply will not give you any problems with the hardware you are running.

The PSU shouldn't concern you. Its more than adequate. X-FI and Vista don't play well together, in case he was planning on vista. 88GTS320 for a 24" eh? Hm... thats a tough one.

Make sure you budget for an OEM Windows license, $120 at the 'egg. Because there's no feeling like when your customer calls and tells you that when they tried to do Windows Update they were told their license is invalid.

He can get vista business through his college for free so its covered there.

He is going to be using this for running engineering programs (pro/e and matlab mainly), ,gaming and it will be hooked up to his television for a media center. He will be purchasing a tv tuner when he gets a TV. This computer is a little overkill but he is convinced that he wants to spend $2000 and this is the best way to do it I believe.

The PSU is great and DEFINATELY better than that antec trio....

Since people didn't stress it enough, the power supply will work great. :p

If he intends to do very heavy gaming I would suggest the 640mb 8800 gts. It leaps well ahead of the 320mb when you start running 1680x1050 and higher resolutions.

fwiw, I have a trio 550w in the rig in my sig w/out letting out the magic smoke yet. :p

OP: what did you end up getting?
