Need to Decide a Gaming Mouse Pad

So, i want a gaming Mouse pad in a budget around $30-35 USD. I have a logitech G300 optical gaming Mouse (which one will suit it's optical sensor) i like speed movements i'm a fps player and mostly assault (m4a1 and ak47)
Which one should i go for-
Razer Vespula
SteelSeries qck+ Fnatic Edition
SteelSeries 4HD
Roccat Sense.

I might be a bit biased to Steelseries products, or they might just make a solid product. I've had a razer cloth pad, and a steelseries I-2, and I have yet to even look at the Roccat products. The razer cloth pad was basically the top of a bargian $5 mousepad without the non-slip bottom pad. It was basically a piece of junk. Relating that to the vespula, which I've felt in microcenter around here, it basically feels like a piece of junk. Actually, feels more like something you would pick up at the dollar store for your child to eat off of, not for good tracking of a mouse. As for the QCK+ - Its a simple cloth pad, but seems to have that thick rubber base that makes a mouse pad stay put. Which means it's got a plus in my book for simply working right. I wouldn't go with the FNatic edition though >.> I've never understanded why someone would buy a mousepad branded with someone elses clan. I just wish they had it in better GW2 images. The 4hd is a plastic pad, with a bit of give. It's got a semi-textured surface, specifically says "provides medium friction" so you're going to get a small amount of resistance. If I read correctly, the roccat is also a cloth pad.

To be honest though, it's alot about feel. If you like cloth under your mitt, grab the QCK or sense. If you like plastic, run with teh 4HD (would never reccomend the vesupla, it feels like garbage). If you have a microcenter or something nearby, go up there and feel the pads, it might change your mind around. Personally, I reccomend the I-2 that I have. Granted, the price is a bit steep, at $40, but its a sheet of frosted glass, with a solid backing so that any mouse can read on it. It literally feels like your mouse is walking on air, or sliding on ice, whichever comparison you prefer. If you have a proper desk to game on, or at least a decent flat surface with a decent amount of real estate (the I-2 is fairly large. Dunno if the I-1 is a downgrade or smaller, like some steelseries lines), its like a dream come true. Sometimes I decide to use it on my bed, and even with the very slight angle that sitting on my bed causes the pad to tilt, my G700 just slides right off with no lack of speed (by itself, without me touching it). This total lack of friction is my dream.

Have you checked out the corepad xxxl? Nothing like having a desk for a mouse pad.

Corsair just came out with a couple mouse pads. The MM400 has extremely low friction and I love it. I use a G700.

I was going to get the steelseries SX but they don't make it anymore then I was going to get the I2 but they don't have black ones anymore. If you want one with more friction you probably want a 4HD or 9HD from steelseries. But IMO the slicker the better.

I don't know about not having black ones anymore, but when I went to my microcenter to buy one about 2 months ago, they had 3 black ones and 1 white, so you might have luck there.

I love my Ratpadz XT. Main page says 24.99 but when you go to checkout, it's 19.99. Think the $5 off has been around forever and you're supporting HF indirectly!

I do hate cloth pads as they do not stay clean and are not fun to clean either.

I'm on my second Func sUrface 1030, and I only bought a second one when I thought they were going under... Altho the 10 year old one does show some wear. They were cheap on Amazon when I got my second one (<$15), dunno where prices are at now that they've relaunched theirsite and rebooted the company. There's several larger/newer models out.

I like the dual surface choice, I do switch occasionally, the rubber base always worked very well too while keeping a low profile on the desk, and they're pretty durable.

if you have the room for it, the xtrac ripper xxl.
it not only adds a very nice touch to your work station but i noticed how much smoother my mouse feels gliding on this pad versus my old gaming pad.
its more of a cloth but i bought this and will never get another mouse pad again.
only draw back is it gets dirty very quickly, but it is very easy to clean.

choosong between steelseries qck+ fnatic edition or CM Storm CS-X Battle Pad DP which is better??

For gaming, an using the Razer Naga MMO mouse, I am using a Rocketfish metal mouse pad. I think I paid like $20 for it at Staples, an it has a Control an Speed side with rubber corners to keep it from slipping. The "Speed" side of the pad is slicker than the "Control" side, an it's actually a bit too smooth for me an twitch-gaming. The rubber corners stick like glue to my desk. I've had a Ratzpad that I gave to a friend to use an picked up the Rocketfish, an it's been stellar.

I just got the Corsair MM400 last week and I can definitely agree with the poster above that it is very smooth....sometimes a bit too smooth even. Still better than what I had before tho which was nothing :)

+1! I have one of the original Ratpadz that is over 10 years old. It has been used everyday and still shows no signs of wear. They have a textured sold surface. The plastic is very slick but the texture allows for control. Best of both worlds.

Adding one more vote for the Corsair MM400 - using it with steelseries ikari

+1 for Ratpadz XT. I had an original Ratpadz and it lost a sticky nub and warped. The XT is a little slicker and shows no wear after two years of hard use.

Anyone know of any hard pads with a smaller size, within 11x11ish constraints? If I go over 11" width I'm going to have to slide it under my keyboard, over 13" or so and it's under my monitor.

Preferably $25 or less.

Anyone use mm400 and 9/4 hd? I've got it narrowed down to those 2.

Scarab has too much friction for me.

I know suggesting yet another surface for the OP might end up being confusing, but I have tried quite a few surfaces and the best cloth pad I have ever used is the Zowie Gear GT-F.

It is a very tightly woven cloth that is what I would qualify as a middle ground between a cloth pad and a hard plastic surface. At the touch it reminds me of neoprene fabric. I find it to have a very smooth glide but at the same time enough friction so that you can control your mouse (I don't know about you but when I have the feeling that I'm holding a hockey puck on ice I find it hard to stop the mouse precisely where I want it to).

The GT-F's construction is very high-quality — the top layer is cloth and the underneath is a rubbery plastic; the whole surface having anti-fray stitching all around it's periphery. It is also water resistant if that means anything to you.

I've had mine for nearly a year now and it is still as new, as apposed to other surfaces which have frayed or developed white patches from wear such as Steelseries or Razer cloth pads I have owned. I am very, very happy with the GT-F — this is coming from a very difficult to satisfy person — and I can only recommend people give it a try. My only regret is that Zowie Gear does not have an Extended/Deskpad version of this model.

Haha! I think I'm going to order that to compare w/ the MM400. So far I really like it...better than the Scarab and WAY better than Destructor 2. But I think I would not mind a colder surface.

Does the MM600 bend @ all? How high in mm is it off the ground...just the pad, not the bumpers. Do the bumpers get in your way @ all?

It is very thin aircraft aluminum and does not bend, think of an aluminum clip board then add the surface and the rubber tabs. They do not get in the way at all..Really a joy to work on!

Cool man, I'll order one and post back in the thread w/ my impressions between the two. I had an eXactmat and the little bumpers on the edges drove me nuts. This is why I LOVE my MM400 so much. It's SOOOOOOOOOOO thin and doesn't get in the way.

The rubber tabs don't get in my way, hope they don't for you too:)
I like this thing more everyday!

One more vote for the Ratpads. I - too - had one of the originals from ~13 years ago. Had to replace it last year. There was no wear, but over time I must have warped it somehow.

I've been told it's easy to bend back, but I couldn't get it quite right. I figured 12 years out of my $20 ratpad was a decent deal, so I replaced it with the same thing. Love it.

One vote against ratpadz, I have one that I picked up and it was very unfriendly to my mice in terms of tracking. Picked up a 9HD instead and haven't looked back. I love my steel series mousepad.

Corsair MM400 XL with my Mionix 7000.

I recommend you get a frosted glass mousepad. I have one thats lasted me many years, it was made by a company called IceMat. Its so smooth. I think Steelseries makes them now.

My Ratpadz have been great, but it is true that they were originally designed in a trackball era.

I've never had any tracking problems, but I have found them to be pretty harsh on the little slidy mouse feet, wearing them down surprisingly quickly.

I'd still rather support the original by kyle, than one of many knock-offs though.

Is there any data on the tracking accuracy of optical and laser mice on them? I sincerely doubt frosted glass provides as accurate tracking as a finely detailed matte surface. Back when they were made people were using very low DPI optical mice or even ball mice, so maybe it wasn't an issue then.

I'm also pretty sure no one makes them anymore, I didn't see them anywhere on the steelseries site.
