Need help putting my PC together!

Hi all,

Recently had a thread here to get help buying all the parts for my dream gaming PC. It went well and I've finally had everything delivered and I've started to put it together. I'm having some issues though because there are a lot more components to when I build my PC 10 years ago!

Here's the build;

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX980Ti 6GB SuperClocked + ACX2.0+ 16X
CASE: Thermaltake Core V71 Full Tower
PSU: SeaSonic Snow Silent 1050 Platinum
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K
CPU COOLING: Corsair Hydro Series H110i GTX 280mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
MB: Asus Maximus VIII Hero LGA1151 ATX Motherboard
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 3200 2x8GB
HDD: Western Digital Green 4TB SATA
SSD: Samsung 950 Pro Series 512GB M.2 SSD
DVDRW: LiteON IHAS124 SATA DVD-RW 24X Black OEM

I think I may be doing things in the wrong order, so some help there might be useful. So far I secured the PSU, Motherboard, SSD M.2., CPU and liquid cooling.

One thing I wanted to check is if I put the liquid cooling in the right place. Photo's below are bad but basically it's in the inside top of my case, with the fans going up through the radiator and out of the case, good move? Also, on the 2nd pic, should I re-attach that fan on top of the case or get rid of it? It would cover half the radiator. If get rid of it, is there anywhere else I should put it?

The fan setup is fine even with the stock blue LED fan.
 
Yeah looks fine to me, I don't think that the fan on top is going to do a ton for you, but it won't hurt. Looks like a nice system you're building there.

+1, i'd lose it for aesthetic reasons, unless it gets completely covered up.
 
Thanks for the replies.

The case covers it up completely so it's more for if it's going to help at all. Even if it's only a little I'd rather have it on I think.
 
typically this is how install things... mind you I use mATX case and board


1. CPU, RAM installed to board
2. Install PSU
3. Install MB
4. Wire up MB and zip tie as needed. Install GPU
5. Install DVD-RW and BD-Rom drives
6. Install HDDs
7. Route power to HDDs and Optical and zip tie
8. Route data cables to HDDs and Optical and zip tie
9. Verify system powers on and all drives are visible in BIOS
10. Install side cover and call it a day

if you are wondering about fans I have 3 1 in PSU, one in front, and one in the rear
