Need help choosing a new PSU

Well since a bit, i have been using Thermlatake truepower 600w PSU with 80% efficiency. It powered a q6600 at 3.6, 5 hdd, evga 8800gt, 6gb ram and the rest of my rig very well. BUT i just upgraded from my old EVGA 8800gt to a gtx 280 and lowered my q6600 to 2.4 and i still get lags when i run games since its under load. I am looking for an efficient power supply with many sata connection since i run may HDD's. The cheaper the better but ood quality performance. Help me choose :)

Did you mean Toughpower? Truepower is an Antec brand. Are you sure that Thermaltake Toughpower 600W PSU can't handle your current setup? Even with the GTX 280, it should still be able to keep your OC of 3.6Ghz.

In other words, why do you need a new PSU? You do know that PSUs do not influence the performance of the PC besides a little headroom and stability for overclocking, right?
 
b.c whenever its at full load, it stars lagging and its the psu fan starts spinning up louder. I know that means a new psu. I would also enjoy a link to some good deals

Umm, again, a PSU does not influence the performance of a system. You know you need a PSU when you start getting hardware problems like freezes, restarts, artifacts, corrupt info, etc. Just because the fan is spinning up louder is not grounds for a new PSU. Unless the noise REALLY bothers you, no need for a new PSU whatsoever.
 
The fan spinning louder just means that you're using a higher wattage than before. As you increase the load on your PSU, it becomes hotter so the fan spins faster to cool it down.

That being said, if you really want an upgrade, consider the Corsair 750TX, PC Power & Cooling 750W, or the Corsair 850TX for more future headroom.
 
agreed, the PSU may not be the problem in this case. since the new video card is the only thing you've changed, i would consider reinstalling videocard drivers.

I did, but the problem is that i get lags when i play and the PSU stars to make squeaking noises but only when its under load and i am running a lot of hardware

Again: A PSU WILL NOT CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO LAG!

Is there any way you can get us a recording of the this "squeaking noise"?
 
ill see if i can but i never had this prob. with my systemuntil i upgraded gfx cards and the 280 was new
