i have a thermaltake 500w, and i want a new one for my new GTX 260 core 216.

I might buy this one
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

Would that be good ? PCI-E Connectors are 4 x 6+2Pin, whats with the +2pins ? Will it fit the 2x 6pins on GTX 260 core 216 ?

DOes this one would better ?
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002
this one have +12v rail x4, corsair have +12vrail single, whats the difference ?

What do i have to look for to have a futur proof PSU ?
ALso, recommend me better PSU if this one isnt good.
What are the best brands ?

Thx !!

I like the corsair better myself. It's a pretty solid unit, and a good price

The Corsair is a much better PSU. The OCZ is based off of FSP's Epsilon platform, which is unreliable at high loads. The 6+2 pin connectors will fit fine in 6-pin sockets since the two extra pins are detachable from the rest of the connector.

However, I recommend you consider this BFG PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702007&Tpk=ES800
It's slightly better than the Corsair, has a bit more capacity, and is also a decent amount cheaper. Right now, it's the best deal on a PSU out there.

As for single rail versus multiple rail, all you need to know is that it's a largely insignificant consideration for someone like you. Single-rail designs do have the advantage that you don't have to worry about overloading any of the rails though.

Great ! thx a lot for recommending me the BFG, looks like a great deal, im seriously considering buying it.

Also, is there a good PSU with blue lights ? it would look good in my antec 900 .. . Ok ok, i know, i prefer a good PSU without any lightning than a bad PSU with lightning, but if i can get both, . ..

There were some really good Rosewill deals recently on newegg, if you trust that brand.

If you're willing to deal with a drop in quality compared to the BFG ES-800 or 750TX (750TX is currently OOS at Newegg.ca but the BFG is still the better deal even if the 750TX is in stock), go with this "blue" PSU:
Antec NeoPower 650 Blue 650W Modular PSU - $113CAD

But honestly, I recommend just spending the extra cash for the quality ES-800 and forget about the blue lights altogether.

Those particular Rosewill PSUs are of decent quality. But Rosewill is well known for making/branding/selecting a ton of subpar PSUs made by a huge range of bad, low quality or decent OEMs. In addition, more than often, there are better quality PSUs for not much more than a Rosewill PSU. Hence Zero82z and my hesitation and distrust with a Rosewill PSU recommendation.

Forget the blue lights -- quality power is far, far more important than blue lights. Get the ES-800 for $70 AR. It simply can't be beat right now. Trust us, "blue lights" might seem like a good idea now, but I think you'd much prefer that your machine continues to work properly than that it has a couple more LEDs in it... for the month or so before it effectively self-destructs.

This

Besides, the LEDs might get old and bug you at some point. And if you REALLY want those blue LEDs you can always get cathodes, among other things.

Just a question... I know to take newegg reviews with a grain of salt, but 8 of the 25 reviews on the BFG are DOAs or failures. Isn't nearly 33% pretty high, even for reviews?

That 33% is invalid for one reason: Those that have problems will complain the most. Those that do not will rarely comment or review. Therefore, those Newegg reviews are not a good sample of the population of BFG ES-800 users.

I just bought that PSU a couple weeks ago, and it powers my system with no problems. Booted first try...I haven't written a newegg review on it, but if I were, I'd give it a 5.

Can someone vouch for this compared to the BFG? Which brand is better?

The PC P&C Silencer 610 is an excellent quality PSU. Brand wise, I'd say both are equal now. Just for comparison, here are the amperages for each PSU:
Silencer 610: 49A on the +12V rail
ES-800: 65A on the +12V rail

Thanks. I think I might downgrade to the Silencer!

But to throw this out there: The Corsair 650TX is also a good quality PSU and shares the same OEM as the Silencer 610: Seasonic. The Corsair 650TX is just $5 more than the Silencer but offers an extra 3A on the +12V rail.

I just bought the corsair one off newegg. I couldn't decide between the PC P&C, but my friend has a corsair and he said it was good.

They're both equally good. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they were both based off the same platform. The TX650 is probably quieter though due to the larger fan.

Hahahah.... I agree with you, but I found it ironic that I just ordered it and it was completely DOA... ;)

Ordered what? An ES-800? How did you test it? Did you actually have it plugged into the motherboard?

Yeah, an ES-800. I plugged it in twice, no response except after pressing power button there was a "flicker" of power to the fans. Just to double check, I plugged in my old one and it ran fine, then plugged in the ES-800 again, still dead. And yes I turned on the PSU on the back. :)

Yes, it was plugged into the motherboard.

Hmm.. ok. And by asking you if the PSU was plugged into the mobo: I've had people just plug in a PSU and toggle the switch in the back expecting it to fire up.

If you haven't already gone through the RMA process, feel free to PM me.
