mushkin 650w ?

Are you sure you mean 80 amps combined power on the 12v rail? If so you are talking about a 960 watt power supply via the 12v rail alone (80*12v=960 watts).

I am gonna buy a 260 216 core and my 500w PSU cant support it, so i am looking for a new PSU. needs to be modular and about 80 amps on the 12V

found this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817812005

i am big fan of modular, otherwise id get a PCP & C

Just an FYI: A good quality 500W PSU is more than enough for your system. But then again, the Enermax Liberty 500W PSUs are a bit on the low side of quality IIRC.

Oh and there's no way in hell that your system + GTX260 requires 80A on the +12V rail (or basically a 1000W PSU). At a minimum, your system only needs 33A on the +12V rail. You'll be on edge with your Liberty PSU but it should still be capable of powering that system with the GTX260 upgrade.

Oh and ditch the Mushkin PSU. Only has 44A on the +12V rail which is pretty damn low for a 650W PSU. Kind of a warning sign right there about the quality of that PSU considering that there are other 650W PSUs that provide 50 to 52A on the +12V rail.

Muskin is way down the ladder from PC P&C in terms of quality. If you want 80A of actual 12V power, nothing below 1kW will do it. Even some 1kW units can't manage that.

The good news is, a decent 600W will power one 260 with room left over.

Maybe he means 80+ certified energy efficiency. Also i have been running Mushkin 550watt modular psu for over 2years with minimal complaints. The pro's are long cables and great looking psu (mirror finish). The cons are i have burnt up 2 video cards by plugging them into the modular port labeled for video cards (i guess its setup to push more amps or something and my 6800xt and then 7900gt couldnt take it). My current system is phenom 9500, 2 sata drives, 1 optical, 3x120mm, HD2900pro and it powers it alright except when i run the auto OC in ati CCC it powers off the system maybe the video card is over working the psu i dunno. I would probably recommend a different brand, im thinking corsair for my next psu.

i had a 260 previously, and my liberty wouldnt boot with it. when i plugged the VGA into a standalone PSU it booted just fine.... too bad i cant OC my PSU just a tad for it to support the 260 :(
all i want is a VGA, but now it seems i have to buy both.....

so any suggestions for about 100 - 150 for a PSU?

i had a thought of buying one of those mini PSUs u fit into a 5.25 slot....

Don't bother with those supplementary PSUs. They cost too much IMO. Anyway, I recommend this modular PSU:
Silverstone ST60F 600W Modular PSU - $105

It has 48A on the +12V rail, modular and is well made.

i can get my hands on a barely used antec quatro (with racing stripes) 850w for like 180ish.... good price?

It typically sells for about $200 new, so it isn't a great price, but it's decent considering it's only lightly used. The Quattro 850 is also a very good PSU.

Yuch! $99 for a max combined of only +12V@44A! And from a questionable manufacturer (Topower) too!

When gaming (without any OC'ing) you are only pulling about 300W, most of it as +12V amperage so about +12V@25A.

OC'ing can increase power demand by about 10% to 30% & we always want a mininum of 30% overhead for cool & quiet operation.

So we want a minimum of about +12V@40A.
