Mtro2033 Free at Nvidia Store!

A game that shoulda been free from the get-go. No amount of visuals could save this game's gameplay.

eh, the game was fine. it had some flaws. but it is well worth the $10 it can be had for. guns take getting used to. I guess most people need to be a god with guns otherwise they get upset. stalker was like this also. the games are more into atmosphere than anything else. although stalker you worked up to some really satisfying guns. metro, even the end weapons were kind of meh....

Yikes, shadows are glitched badly on ATi cards when you get outdoors. The game only works right if you downgrade to Catalyst 10.9 or earlier.

I haven't done this much frikin' driver swapping since my last 3DFX card...

This is fucking bullshit. Advertise a game for free on your site and then invalidate all the codes, remove the fucking games from people's steam accounts? Epitome of phishing and false advertising. Guess I wont be buying that GTX 580 after all. I'm 100% serious. Sorry nvidia. Bowing out of this round. Go to hell.
LOL ^^^

This technically wasnt advertised as Free. it was a Price error & people pretty much stole it. Saying your not going to buy the best card on the Market cause of an error is your fault. I just feel bad for the idiots that went on Ebay & bought keys for 2.75 cents & I know a couple of hundred people who did that so paypal is going to have a field day with that one.

AMD/ATI sucks what did you expect?

It said $0.00 right on the damn page. It boils down to whether you consider "price error" to be a legitimate excuse to get out of honoring a transaction. Legally, it is not, although in practice it never seems to work out that way. Imagine if a brick and mortar store were able to do this. What if WalMart gave away an item, and just asked for your home address and phone number? Then, they magically force the item to self-destruct the next day.

I find it hilarious that per Nvidia's OWN transaction terms, they should not have the ability to do that. This is a perfect example of a company using its market clout to scheiss its way out of a situation. Where I'm from, false advertising is illegal.

I'm consistently pissed off with how Nvidia handles itself. They never admitted that they knowingly made millions of defective laptop GPUs, and settled with the OEM laptop makers for a fraction of the cost of a recall - in the hopes most people would just accept that their laptop died after 1-3 years. Multiple lawsuits ensued.

Then, they pulled the "add to cart only" pricing bullcrap. I don't even remember how they blackmailed the stores into it, but it was pretty shitty.

Then, Nvidia decided to block Physix if there if any other brand graphics card in the system, regardless of whether it is active and displaying or not.

Couple all that with a CEO who talks shit like a 5th grader, and now this crap. Yeah, I get annoyed. I have been with Nvidia since the Riva 128, but they have seriously pissed me off over the years.

^ I also forgot Nvidia's draconian control over licensing SLI motherboards and basically blocking SLI for use with AMD-based systems.

It was offered in a legitimate e-tail store for $0.00, and a confirmation email and a real serial were initially given out. It was advertised as free, and no one stole it.

IDK how you arrived at the conclusion that AMD is so bad man, 35% market share in graphics isn't exactly a bad track record.

Wow talk about throwing a fit over your inability to profit off of someone else's misfortune.

Do you get this mad when you go to take a couch from the sidewalk in front of someone's house only to find that they're moving in or out and not actually giving it away?

And what exactly is depriving yourself from a product that is otherwise going to make you happy going to achieve? I guess you think NVIDIA will come read your post and regret their decision?

As far as I'm concerned, consider this the other side of the coin for all the DRM crap they've been pushing on us for all these years. Once you opened the box, you have agreed to the TOS, you bought it, you can't bring it back for any reason. And they can't cancel the transaction for any reason. Think of it like this, you found a great deal on a monitor at best buy, a priceing mistake but still you bought it and walked out the door with it. Now Best Buy runs out to the parking lot and tells you it was a mistake and you didn't actually buy it. Actually since it is installed on my computer it's more like the Best Buy guy coming to you HOUSE and telling you it was a mistake and you didn't really buy the monitor so you can't use it... Well right now I'm telling NVidia the same thing I would tell the BestBuy guy if he came to my car and started to take the monitor.

Fail rationalization.. are you really suggesting that you punish NVIDIA for all DRM across all games in history?

Read the thread. It pisses me off so much because this kind of scheissty crap has turned into typical Nvidia behavior. If this were an isolated thing, no big deal... but one can almost expect this from Nvidia now.

It doesn't matter what the price actually was, or whether it was free. If you advertise a price, and a transaction proceeds, you cannot force the customer back on the transaction. Everyone knows this. It's a matter of principle and a reflection of a company's code of service. Which, in Nvidia's case, has been slipping for years.

Go get some mental counseling...now.

For anyone who has received a code from me or from this deal and has found that it is not working, ALL of the serials acquired from the nVIDIA store for free seem to have been invalidated. I will not be able to provide you with a code, neither will anyone else. Good luck to you and burn nVIDIA at the stake :p. JK.

This is probably why the keys were invalidated. Cause selfish people just had to grab a 100 or a 1000 and start selling them on ebay or trading them for stuff on forums.

Boohoo...there is socialism and free stuff for you.

I Dont think I would call him selfish.. He gave away pretty much all of his codes to people here. Thats just looking out for your fellow [H] members.

He didnt charge but there were others who clearly did and even put them on ebay. I am sure someone from nVidia happened on the slickdeals.net thread or this thread and went "$!@# these aholes" and just pulled the plug on the whole thing.

IMO the mistake was there. Take responsibility for it. If the person has it activated on Steam then they should never be able to magically kill it.

I am going to torrent the game now just to show my disapproval.

According to steam, our keys are still valid. They are only duplicates, so our license is still valid.
