Kind of a surprise to me as this is an important space I would have thought MS would want to at least maintain some development/presence in the space. I mean it isn't costing them much. With so many partners out of the gate with biggies such as Samsung and HP (both of which I bought HMD from) it seemed like MS had reason to support this on their platform and I assumed an eventual seamless integration into XBOX at some point.
Oh well at least I can say I got two HMD at great prices that both performed very well.

That's a bummer. I hope they can refine the hololense if anything else. That more jazzes my bells instead of some sort of VR headset.

Quietly noted in the latest Windows ‘Deprecated Features’ page, the company wrote that, “Windows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and Steam VR Beta.”

Unfortunate, but the writing had been on the wall for some time.

The fact that Xbox didn't even attempt to compete with PSVR when so much of the development was already done still baffles me. That was the kind of userbase the platform needed to keep interest alive.
