It looks like when he opens up the new overclocking page the clocks are at 1133/2000. The GPU-Z shots say 1266/2000.

I was thinking it was gonna be closer in strength to the 290x I have and just having the benefit of double the memory.. Will be interested to see all the details tomorrow.
 
No idea which one , the first video I did not see anything regarding overclocking. Liked the video could not make out to much from it ;)

That's the RX 480 ME (Mustache Edition). It will be sold by select retailers in limited quantities. MSRP is slightly higher at $399 and there are already eBay listings up fo $2,999.

Included in the box is a shot of the booze Kyle and Raja stole together and an autographed picture of the aftermath.

So, 30 on the top shelf, and assuming 2x2x5 config per box under (though it's probably not that), another 280 under it. I know, that's just one store, but that's not too many of $240 (actually 260 euros, according to Roman but w.e) cards, don't you find?
 
Lol whatthefuck.com is on the the next hype. Collecting nvidia leaks lol. I am sure paper launch of gtx 1060 is coming soon. If they push the launch forward by a month it means they never planned to have volume shipment until September. Since they are moving the launch from mid August to mid July.

When you see 1060 news a day before rx480 launches we know it's coming straight from nvidia.

Plus if 1070/1080 were made in thousands and selling in thousands that's is top dollar right there. And nvidia had no need to push the launch forward.

Amd got nvidia to react that my friends is competition. I think it's a bad play on nvidias part, they didn't have to make this move if they were making top dollar and were producing thousands of high end card.

1070/1080 must be in tight supply for them to announce 1060 a month ahead. I think we are finally seeing the competition we have been missing for years. Hope AMD brings the same to top end towards the end of the year. Tired of high end prices going up a 100 each generation.

It really depends on the retailer. If they don't do volume business than they don't have the need to order a 1000 you know. Like my local FRYS, they are just cheap they will order 50 and see how quick they sell and then order more. Lol.
 
I am just excited for competition. I wanna see if nvidia does a hard launch mid July or they are just blowing smoke. If it's a paper launch again. I am probably pulling the trigger on this until I am ready for 4K, 1070 is still a possibility for me, and 980ti is too, if I can find a smoking deal on that one.

Well someone linked where TSMC is having yield issues and causing the shortage of GTX 1070 and GTX 1080. Since there are bound to be many bad chips laying around, Nvidia should have a ton of GTX 1060 made.
 
If this card still supports PLP eyefinity and has ESXi passthrough, I'm in for 1 maybe 2.

Not necessarily. This would be a good day to capitalize on the interest for tech sites as well so nVidia isn't the only one who would benefit from the timing of this kind of a leak.

Well it's not like either one is oblivious to what's going on with the other. Obviously the 480 has generated a lot of buzz and if it really is all that then sure, nVidia would probably like to be able to counter sooner rather than later.

Anyone willing and able to buy a 1080 isn't looking at the 480/1060 as substitutes. I'd say this is probably a good deal more plausible for those looking at the 1070. We'll see how things go at the end of the year/first of next. The 480 looks like it's going to be great for what it is but it's still just AMD doing it's bang for the buck deal and not pushing anything forward beyond that. That's not a bad thing but at the end of the day the 480 is probably going to be nothing more than a $200 to $300 part from 2016. Not that that's a bad thing at all. It's just not the thing that pushes boundaries beyond pricing.

I didn't say they launched it, I was talking about wtf.com* reporting its mid july launch pushed forward. There is no reason not to announce it already if they have large stacks of 1060 so I am thinking its just tech sites making shit up, something that wtf.com* does often.

Those waiting on 1070's are the ones that may consider two RX480's since most will probably be able to accommodate the two cards. If the performance in enough games are significantly better, not all, it will then become competitive against a 1070. The downside is that those looking for a 1070 also has an option later to SLI with another up to two cards. The RX480 I am not sure if it will support more than two cards but it may.

For VR, two RX480 maybe the ideal setup for cost and performance with LiquidVR, each card rendering per eye. Could be a strong selling point for those interested in VR.

Anyone who thinks a card that performs not much better than a 970 is competition lives in a special place. They launched a low end card when they should have launched something to actually compete against NVIDIA on the high end. NVIDIA produces high end products then trickles that performance down their line. We know how well a 1060 is because we know how well a 1080. Starting from the bottom makes it look like AMD really is having a hard time actually producing something to compete with NVIDIA no engineer starts from the bottom, so we can stop with argument they want to capture the "mainstream" the company that gets that market will be the one with the largest marketing budget. The consumers on the low end do not read sites like this they don't care about price/perf they will buy the shiniest thing a marketing guru dangles before them.

What is the percentage of folks having cards with better than 970 performance? 3%? 5%? 1%? Don't underestimate the appeal for that level of performance for the Mainstream. It also depends what kind of competition that Nvidia can provide at that $200 price range. Currently not even close.

Again, it's the bang for the buck proposition. $200 for 970 performance in 2016 is cool but we've not seen what the competition will do at that price point.

I don't think anyone is arguing against the price point or that this is the mainstream market with the largest number of customers for these kinds of products. But I do think that for a $200 card, the expectations are somewhat out of whack. Yes, a $200 card in 2016 can give you what a $350 card did last year. That's great. That's how tech moves forward and into the mainstream. Not sure if it's a huge deal unless nVidia's got nothing to counter at this price point.

Oh and you know damn well the performance of 1060 without knowing a single spec? Please enlighten me and give me a link to confirmed specs by nvidia.

When you are confirming things without any reviews out and confirming performance of 1060 without knowing specs and performance. 960 was gimped so I have more to go by and say nvidia could easily handicap the 1060 enough to discourage people from not buying the 1070.

So the term mainstream is annoying for several reasons, but the main one is because no one can define who that market is. These cards are marketed at the guy or gal who walks into Best Buy or Fry's. These are rarely the most informed consumers just someone looking for a cheap card to buy the card that whens will be the one marketed the best and places like Best Buy favor NVIDIA. My main point is it is a mistake to start from the bottom it is a position of weakness because an enthusiast is not going to buy a re branded slightly cheaper 380x.

It's been in all of their recent rumor articles, in this one they have a table that says "Launch Date: June 2016".

One of their headlines:
"AMD RX 470 & RX 460 Announced At E3, Launching With RX 480"

"All three RX 400 series cards will launch simultaneously on June 29."

"AMD’s decision to build-up stock for several weeks preceding the Radeon RX 400 series launch on June 29 should help circumvent any such shortages. At launch gamers will have the choice of 8GB & 4GB RX 480 cards , 8GB and 4GB RX 470 cards as well as 2GB and 4GB RX 460 graphics cards."

this is not about being a fanboy we can surmise performance based on where the 1080 and the 1070 is and how NVIDIA has scaled down cards in the past.

If someone is smart enough to build a system and put a card in themselves, let me tell you they don't do it without reading up a thing or two.

I don't think. I know it is competition, because I was going to buy a 1070, now I think I will buy a RX480 instead.

You have to remember that competition is not only between 2 "similar" products.

I could be looking at a 1080p TV, but there is a nice cheap UHD TV at a £300 more, so I bite the bullet and decide to go for that. Well that is competition.

In my case, I was really looking for the new generation BIG Pascal or Big Vega. A 1070 was going to give me a temp solution, but hey at $200, I will gladly take that value for now, then get the BIG Pascal/Vega later.

That is assuming they are just not buying a card to upgrade a OEM PC.

My point is I do not believe this card will be that competitive.
