Minecraft

I did a full size map and didn't see anything so I cropped it... I can do another one.. will take a while to upload tho

So, instead of converting the world, when we upgraded the server to beta 1.03 (whatever current version is), we rolled a new world, and got a sweet archipelago looking start area. While resource gathering is a little more involved due to the lack of land, things are cruising around rather nicely.

I staked out a small island of my own, and I've decided to replace the whole island with my 'fortress', keeping as much of the natural shape as possible. It's kinda an & symbol.

Any thoughts on the roof? I've got a waterline of sandstone, with glass over that, and two rows of sandstone over that, and the entries handled. I'm considering going up with one row of cobble (as a placeholder for green cobble once I find a dungeon), but then I'm at a loss as to what to make the second story walls and roof out of.

Wood stairs are the roof-of-choice for everyone else on the server (all four of 'em, lol), and I'm not confident of my ability to produce something nice looking with wood or stone stairs anyway.

I'm using Misa's 64x pack, and I don't care what it looks like in other packs, though Painterly compatibility would be a plus.

got a perfect spot picked out and started building my home last night.
it's basically gonna be identical to what was on the last revision of hashland.

So. Slimes don't really die.

To test this to the fullest, I built a pit with lava flowing into it, slanted the outer sides so you can jump into it but not out, and lured some slimes into it with the intent of hopefully clearing out the infestation in the basement of my friend's castle. My friend took a video...

Instead of them all dying,

This happened

They multiplied, massively. Staring directly into the "reactor" resulted in frame rate drops. We broke it open and they poured out... but for every one that came out, there were two more still stuck inside the thing. :p

...We've since sealed off that section of the basement until notch fixes their inulnerability! :D

Slimes are glitched, they do actually die but for some reason they're preserved locally on multiplayer servers until you log out/log in again. So basically..kill slimes, log out, log in, if there are any left whap them with a shovel/sword/whatever a few times, log out then log in again..bam slimes gone.

Which is nowhere near as fun as having a billion slimes running around. :p

Unless they're running around while you're standing by a high ledge or lava pit. *bump* :p

Yeah we figured that out as soon as we logged out/in to see if it would fix the frame lag before that video was even recorded... but admitting that makes the video less fun! :D

We really did build a wall across that section of the area though; it's pretty much endless slimes spawning down there and hand weapons still don't seem to work on them. It gets old pretty quick having to lure the writhing mass humping you into the lava pit and re-logging over and over.

I just got the game about a month ago and it has already consumed more time than I intended, I have not tried multi-play yet. I have read some of the thread and the world you guys have built is amazing. I saw the address of the server you play on and it appears that I would need to be added to the white list to see the server in “person”. Can that be done? What rules do you guys have in place for the multiplayer portion?

I work at night so my time in game is limited to my time off and/or any other free time that I get.

Nick will be same as my forum name.

Thanks

I ran into so slimes on the server last night. I had put a water source down and they all drown. Didn't have to log out.

ICTerify, you can log on the server without being whitelisted i think, you just cant build.
Greatone123 does all the adminwork, so he will do that too, just ask him nicely if you see him online, or wait until he confirms your request here.
as for rules, im not quite sure, we're just a nice bunch of nerds really, just hop on the server and we'll see :)

That's pretty damn cool stuff, would be nice to set them to the different modes like Aggressive or Passive or Defensive

my home is coming along nice.
need to make some glass for the windows and furnish the inside.

it's on top of a cliff, so i'm trying to decide on the best way to make stairs down to the shore below.

I'm serious. I watched this video where this guy built all these tunnels to flood the other players work and there was even a tutorial on how to do it and then act like you were also a victim. It is pretty interesting how there are a number of ways you can do it.

I have never played Minecraft but this interests me.

That's why smart server ops protect things. Also, if someone really went to town it's not like you couldn't restore a backup of the world....assuming you have any. :)

Still though man, that would be a major dick move. Some people spend a lot of time working on things and some jackass comes along and messes it up in minutes because he thinks it's funny? Pretty crappy thing to do.

Especially considering a huge amount of what is built on Hardcraft is a memorial to a deceased member... a member many of us called friend.

For people like that easy load up a server with that broville map. Just go crazy, when done reload the map. Pure greifer server :)

On a side note. I'm going to be putting together a official hardcraft thread here soon. This one is starting to get a bit long, and it will make it easier for people to get the info they need if its all in the OP. Links, server info, what's been happening since the beginning. Things like that. Ill keep a link to the most current map on it also.

very nice , but im more proud of my work since im not able to spawn anything.

I only wish we had access to blocks you can't normally get. Nether blocks and leaves mainly.

leaf blocks wouldn't stay anyway without logs near them... and if you have logs, you can make leaves anyway...

so netherblocks are the only thing you can't get...
