Hey Sulseeker, I was wondering if you could help me out with a Hey0 mod setting? I basically figured everything out, except the whitelist...

I want people to be able to join my server, if they know the address. The way it is set right now, under server-properties, I have whitelist=true.. Now like that, nobody can even connect to my server without me adding them to the whitelist first...

I want it setup so that anyone who knows the address can join, but they cannot build, destroy or anything.. Just be able to wander around until I add them to the whitelist, thereby enabling them to build, mine etc...

Now I am assumed I would therefore change the permissions in groups for all default users to have no rights.. However, I have to change whitelist=false, and would that not remove the power of the whitelist, and make it so regardless of permissions, anyone could join and build and mine? The problem I am having is the differentiation between the permissions in groups, and the use of whitelist=true/false..

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :)

Edit: I decided to change whitelist to false.. And I just changed permissions for everyone that joins to not be able to build or destroy.. and only have access to /sethome and the basic commands like /warp, /kit, /compass etc...

I then edited the vip group to be able to have permission to build along with default commands, with the addition of /setwarp... I have a mods, and admins group as well.

If this is a bad idea for any reason I cannot see at the moment, please let me know! Thanks :)
So now everyone can join the server, I don't need to know your name beforehand.. I just need to know the names to add for building permissions, and I added everyone here so far.

One more question before I dive in. Can I assume in multiplay someone can just walk up to your build and start smashing things - and to combat this you use private servers?
 
there is a user list, if you are not a "builder" in the ranks you cannot build

so not just anyone can walk up to your stuff.
 
I sent a PM to Sul, but if anyone else is able to give me build access on the server, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have damage, PVP, and monsters turned off at the moment to allow people to build their places before I turn it all on again. I most likely won't turn on monsters or damage, until they are basically working normally.

Edit: Well for some reason, it seems only local can connect, even though it was all setup to handle internet... Don't know what happened... 0.o

Edit2:Ahh.. my internal IP address changed.. Must have been from all the server restarting.. Must not have static IP set properly.. Oh well, it is an easy fix to get back again.

Anyways, hashland.dyndns.org is back up and running! :p

@Ojax: The [H] server doesn't use a whitelist... group permissions only. I didn't want to restrict the userbase, but I also didn't want people to blow the crap out of everything... we have creepers to do that now.

I also have the Users.txt shortcutted to the desktop for easy access to add and change users permissions.

In reguards to the [H] server itself... I'm keeping it running as best I can, but until I can get the mob situation figured out, falling damage on login, on -death issues such as ghost for, dropped loot, not being able to respawn... I haven't really been an active participant.

Just logged in to, no connection issues from my end.

Yah I figured out the explanations of the use of the Whitelist, and the permissions in group... So I also turned off whitelist, and just added group permissions.

I've turned off damage and monsters on my server, and I still have the invisible bug, but it seems pretty rare, as you cannot die.. It happens in boats and mine carts. The bug there is if the area your started your boat / cart ride in starts to unload as you move further away, you will stop in position, and will be a ghost.. Luckily, reconnect fixes it 99% of the time... I'm hoping they work on that bug for next patch, as it completely ruins all travel except by foot.. =/

The server I am running is just for me to learn how to run one, and give people here the option to connect to mine, if yours happens to be down. Everyone from [H] is welcome to build on my server as well, since some people would like a different world, and a chance to build without any damage or monsters effecting them until that is all properly fixed. :)
 
I decided to build on both server. My place in Hardcraft is overun with creepers that WONT go away even with proper lighting. I had made a huge rollercoaster that has been destroyed by them.

I started a nice project on hashland.

Creepers don't go away with lighting, which is dumb IMO with how strong they are.
 
what do you do for materials? just go find a quiet corner where other haven't been building and start digging/cutting? or is there a command to get things like wood/metal/etc.

Bah.. I guess that is all fine and dandy having correct damage, but NO mention of fixing carts and boats?? Like, FFS, all I want is to be able to use a bloody cart or boat, without bugging, stopping, or dying for once... They were implemented to SMP BEFORE damage, and yet still don't work.. Unless you are fine with having a carnie ride spin in circles ride that sucks, its all broken...

In case people didn't know, I was working on a cart station on the Hardcraft server, and because of the uselessness of carts, I won't be building there until its fixed. I put a lot of effort into the station on Hardcraft, and it is useless thanks to a bug Notch doesn't feel is a priority.

If damage is working better after patch tomorrow, I may consider having damage and monsters on my server again.
 
That explains the lagginess that my system had before xferring over to G123's machine.

I'll see if we can get G123 to open 25566 so we can have a test server running while the Hey0 patch comes out for the [H] server...

Until tomorrow folks. Hope this patch fixes a lot of issues I have, personally, with SMP minecraft.

I have personal portals working for people to use, only I can build and setup.
I will have a server economy setup inside the soon to be setup HashMart. You will be able to buy Diamonds, Iron and gold ingots, and redstone from specific shops setup. You will be able to sell most everything for Nugs (The game currency) from anywhere inside HashMart, using commands.

I am installing this so that new people do not have to spend all their time mining for diamonds, gold, iron and redstone which are the hardest items in the game to collect, besides dungeon loot. People will be able to sell stacks of dirt, stone and whatever, at set prices to build up a decent amount of Nugs, they can then use to buy diamonds for tools, armor, weapons, building blocks. Gold for building blocks and materials, and the same goes for Iron and redstone.

Once the tool drop fix bug is removed, diamonds will be very very valuable, and in my opinion, nobody would be build anything large with diamond or gold blocks, and would be forced to spend their time mining very deep for the diamonds they need to create tools. This marketplace will diversify your abilities to obtain these essential items, and allow more time for people to build, and less time tediously mining to collect enough to build 2 blocks... The market will help people to get these materials and use them more often in build projects than they would have if they had to mine all of it.

Edit: I want to limit the use of spawned items, as it completely turns the game into full creative mode, and those with the power, will burn out quickly having everything given to them using a command... With this market, even I, the admin, will be using it eventually, and removing, or not using, the /give item command. I'm sure it can be setup so people will still be able to build most of the time, with materials that are normally hard to build with, and still be forced to mine and collect resources on their own. Now that almost everything has a currency value, nobody will have to incinerate, or throw away stacks of items... They can all be used in exchange for money, which is used to buy the hard to get items.

I can consider many other options for the server market.. I can add other items to buy, as well as eventually setup auctions, personal shops, player to player trading, and lotteries! =D

* Made arrows visible and deal damage
* Hoes now produce proper seeds
* Creepers make noises and animate before exploding
* Explosions animate properly
* No more infinite free arrows
* Server logging now appends to server.log rather than overwriting it
* Buttons and levers (and a few other blocks probably, it’s a general solution) animate properly
* Fixed minecarts (and pigs!) moving twice as fast as they should when ridden.
* The join server screen now remembers the last entered ip
* Increased chunk saving frequency on the server
* Leaving sneak mode no longer triggers a million sounds
* You can now see sneaking players
* Names of sneaking players aren’t visible through walls, and are visible a much shorter distance
* Snowballs!!

I added you to builders list when I saw your name join the server I think yesterday... So you have access to /kits and building permissions. You will also be able to ask me to install a personal portal at your home to connect to everyone else's portal. I hope to have the basics of the economy setup tonight, if the new patch doesn't delay things too badly. :)

Server is down at the moment until I patch and get it working reliably with the new update.. Most likely, all the plugins and mods will be messed up until they update, and that sometimes takes days =/

Hashland is up running a backup of the world on a vanilla server.. No warps, no /sethome No mods, nothing.. I put chests filled with free swords, armor, bows, arrows, and golden apples.. So go and PVP, or join up and explore and kill and destroy.. I wont be saving the map, as I will be restoring the map back to the way it was when the mods are patched and installed.

Oh and arr4ws and harsaphes... TNT found your places.. hehe I don't know who did it!! ;)

if I want to give myself items, do i need to download and run my own server? even for single player? mining takes forever and i want to play with trains :D
