i dont give a crap about that dust game. Ubisoft is well known for badly implemented games.
 
Any recommendations on skins? I got in the MC forums briefly @ work before getting blocked again and the Mixcraft skin looked like the best of the few I saw.

Can something other than WinRar be used to install the skins (specifically, 7-Zip)?
 
Texture packs or skins? Skins you just upload the image to your Minecraft profile.

Edit: I see Mixcraft is a texture pack. I don't see why 7zip wouldn't work. You can also just plop the zipped pack into Minecraft's texture pack folder and use the in-game texture selector to install it. If it is above 16x16 res, then you will need to run the HD texture fix for animated water/lava and other fixes, which means you will likely need to install the pack the original way.

I am using Misa's HD 64x64 Realistic Overhaul Texture pack with the Ambient O mod with the mini-map overlay... That minimap is the best mod out there.. I can be mining below and still know where I am in relation to the surface, so I'm not digging straight below others, and I know I'm below the ocean or not heh.. Plus I don't need the compass, I know which direction I'm going in all the time.

Server Down? =( Just my luck lol

The server I was on previously was running a server mod that removed all mobs, and had chest protection, which even on this server would be a cool thing to have.. Some things you wanna keep private, and I don't fully trust everyone to resist temptation. ;)

Anyways, the servers was always griefed with fire spammers and guys spawning mob spawners everywhere, so it was hard to enjoy the works of others.. The last tree house was burnt down last night for instance.. The server owner had the power to protect people's property, so he protected my cliff face home.. Which was cool because if the doors weren't open, nobody could open them! =)

So I had windows looking inside with signs above doorways saying, Diamond storage, Gold Storage, etc.. I had all kinds of people standing outside watching me flood my Obsidian factory floor and mine Obsidian hehe.. The griefers would always try to tunnel inside, but once they hit the protection layer, they were out of luck! :) Everytime I log in there I have to spend 1- 15 minutes filling in tunnels and holes around the outskirts of my property lol...

I built the place in the sea level corner of two massive flat cliff faces.. The doorway was the bottom two corner bricks, and where I started and mined out the bottom corner. For some reason I have this desire to create a mining company home or environment.. So I did this on this server kinda.. Put up Hash Mines Inc. signs everywhere inside and out. This was purely for my amusement, however to my amazement, I had people standing outside asking if I would "hire" them to mine for my company... lol.. I was kinda surprised at how many people asked.. At least 4 - 8 people were begging to work for me. They didn't know I had nothing mined at all at this point, but Obviously what I had built designed with a Mining Company in mind, worked! lol

I love this game.. An Alpha game with Doom graphics.. I would have never bet on that lol... Only solidifies the argument that Gameplay > Graphics. :)
 
There is almost no griefing at all on the Hardcraft server with the implementation of the builders group whitelist. The occasional obsidian prison will get built around you if you get caught afk but it's all in good fun lol.
 
An actual server crash...

Java_VM_Runtime_Error... whatever that means

It's back up and running now.
 
well it happend again sul, the server recreated a chunk of land, took out my entire roller coaster and the back right corner of my land.. but nothing else was effected besides that area.
 
Yea, seems the "server put a chunk" that looks like a fucking castle on my construction site for stonehenge. So inconsiderate I dunno where to start. Can't even get the sunrise anymore. Spent a day or two clearing a mountain for this guy to park his shit there. I shouldn't be this pissed but I am.

That was actually me, it was a honest mistake. On my first day playing i had no idea what i was doing or where i was in relations to anything on the map, i was just running around exploring. I started building a cave which was below your stonehenge, than i began to mess around with random shapes and ideas for some structures i would create as a first ever project so i started building from the bottom up. Being my first day ever playing MC i was excited and i wanted to build something awesome for [H].

When i got to the top where your stone hendge i had no idea that it was an actual user made pillars i just thought it was random land with a bunch of chunks of dirt all over. It wasn't until my 2nd day when i found out about the huge city (w/ sutins vault etc..) & the spawn point that i was heading back towards my structure and i saw your sign:eek::(

If you want i can re adjust my structure so you get a perfect sunrise.
 
Minecraft.net is finally back up (at the moment...). And wow, half of arches three and four apparently poofed. Great. Minecraft.net is back down as I'm typing this sentence, lol.

I was on for a few minutes earlier and then I ran into a floating forge at the edge of the world and the game crashed :p

*edit* Apparently there is a known bug where the world will not load when traveling if you are in a vehicle. :(

Yes! Do NOT travel in a boat! If you hit the edge of the visible map, where is has to load the next area, it won't. You will freeze up locked at the edge of the map, and will have to reconnect.. Also, the server will leave a ghost character of you and your boat in that location for a long time afterwords.. It is really freaky to stumble across your character sitting in a boat lol.

Boats worked better before the patch that apparently fixed them lol.. Oh well.. =D

Looks good, but I think you need to increase your scale if you want to capture the proper curves and proportions on the Timber Wolf; AND it will look extra awesome! :)
 
That's awesome - hey question for you guys. So I've been finding diamond but I'm not sure what the best thing to do with it is. I know it's sought after, but is that just to make tools? Is the diamond pickaxe really quick and strong? I made some iron pickaxes, but they don't last very long even going through the soft stuff. I pretty much just use stone tools unless I'm breaking through something special.

Also, where the hell do you guys mine all the materials to build these structures given that there are so many grand works so close together in the hardcraft server?!

To mine obsidian you need a diamond pickaxe. Obsidian can be created by mixing lava and water together. Obsidian can be used to make a portal to The Nether.
 
and also I'd like to know what you refer to as the "soft stuff"

I've had the same diamond pickaxe since I started, got it out of the spawn chest and it's been loyal to me.

Used the diamonds I've found to make 1 of each tool. The rest I've stockpiled for then repairing your tools bug is fixed, build what you can while you can!

I realized that while building it, particularly the main body section. I am putting together a Raven, building on the bias of the chunks to see if that helps (I don't think it is), but larger will definitely be necessary.

First, make sure you are making shovels for the 'soft stuff' like sand, dirt and gravel. It works better and does not wear out as fast as a pickaxe on the same material.

As for where we get the materials? DIG!
 
i started building something on top of a mountain , wich is above the clouds. I wanted to dig thru the mountain to make many levels. But i just found out clouds go through the mountain... im not even sure i will finished what i started because of that.

Grab Painterly's pack, use the customizer and turn off clouds!

meh... im all about vanilla minecraft... im just like that. I decided to build a light tower on top of it with nice material. I can go ver high cause the mountain is almost at the maximum of the world.

Does anyone know of a good way to pre-model a design?
I am thinking of using MS Excel with square cells and fill them in in five views, but that seems like a pain.

You'll be fine. I'm running one on the Athlon 3200 rig in my sig and it's working fine with about a 4 person load doing some heavy exploring and tnt based spelunking. Haven't tried it any more loaded than that.
