Minecraft

And the lag is been reported on all server except those with well over powered systems. And not on residential internet also I would think

Early morning here..NYC...still cant log in, getting connection error...
Is this still the log in....Hardcraft.dyndns.org?
also just tried this...24.28.84.186:25565 and I get the error.
Ideas?

fixed.

I'm the only one logged in and I'm getting the reappearing block bullshit that's been going on lately. This is not a lag/latency issue, this is a issue with minecraft server itself. I'll keep you updated as best I can.

Until our old map is back and our world restored, if possible, I will come back to the server.. Single player is just meh to me, and the friggen monsters make starting out 3 times as slow and hard.. I've had to sit in my little dark house the first night and wait till morning lol.. I was like, as if I gotta stand here lol..

Anyways I found this website, mcserverlist.net where they have alpha servers listed to join.. Some are communities that need you to sign up on their website or e-mail for rights, but there are lots of free build servers!

I found a server.. Super fast, loads almost instantly and actually has a small community of homes and structures.. It hasn't been raped by griefers, and has a 11 person capacity, which I've never seen more than 8 or 9 people online.. I'd rather build and create where others can visit and view, and where I can build amongst others to form small towns and cities.. Having my own single player map where everything is created by me just doesn't excite me as much as building online.

Anyways the server I'm hanging out on is survivalfun.servebeer.com:25565 I'm hashmang, so come say hello or check out the creations for something to do! :) I can't wait until the Hard server is back up with the main world running with the ability to use buckets and the ideas I've came up with in the meantime! =)

Last I checked the price is supposed to go up as it hits beta and release versions. So technically you paid for part of his product. That's what your getting, part of it.

Pretty sure it was sarcasm, at least i hope so.

yeah, missing the old map..just logged in and out again. Hopefully we will be up soon.

Your wish is my command. Hey0 released Build 125 of his mod... Got it, installed it, jumped in and we're back in the saddle again!!!

True, but sometimes re breaking a block gives another chunk... so it's win/lose.

who is building in the middle of the highway? how are we supposed to expand our highway and transport systems if people block the road ways?

cmon now people gotta work together to keep the place not going just silly.

Is the lag issue due to bandwidth, hardware, or is the software just incapable of handling many clients? I have a 30/22 FIOS connection at home that I can set a server up on if it will help.

don't know, it's only been laggy since the patch from what I've seen.

lets put it like this, I connect over the lan to the server and Its laggy for me.

what hardware do you have that you would use for it ?

i had NO lag last night playing when everyone else was complaining of lag...

internet isn't great. 25/2

system specs:
intel i7 920 @ 3.5ghz
12gb ddr3
geforce gtx275
2x150gb vraptor's

can't wait to start work on my castle some more tonight!

still need some tnt though :-( no way i can clear out all the land around it that i want to without it

Stood up the old Dell p4 3.0/1gb RAM, server is running splendidly.

There's a bit of lag when you're going 'fast' (double-boosted minecart), we're seeing the occasional block-respawn, but it is livable and playable with five people on my wee little box.

AND NO MORE FREAKING ANIMALS OH MY GOD THANK YOU NOTCH.

Last night before I remembered that part of the patch notes, a SHEEP JACKED MY MINECART.

Grrrrrrrrrr.

Well, I just bought this game...time to see what all this fuss is about. :)

do yourself a favor and start playing it in single player first. Keep the difficulty on Normal and get torches and coal ASAP (so you can make torches).

have fun, it's a great game.

So i am playing minecraft yesterday between classes, and I had to explain it to someone. It was odd, because when I mentioned it was an early Alpha stage software, his response was "so that's why the shapes are so blocky?"

The proceeding description devolved into a conversation about how Minecraft is the completion of a circle in the progression of video games: Content over graphics, possibilities instead of rules, sandbox instead of rails, community over competition.

Should have just said, "Nope, the blocks are the whole point," and just watched as his mind got blown.

I would be curious to see minecraft with super nice graphics. The possibilities would be endless but i also dont want notch to screw with the basic fomula too much.

Maybe minecraft 2?

to keep it as open as it is with super nice graphics, would bring even my rig to its knees i would imagine

I'm thinking the original Red Faction...

If you want to see some pretty, throw the 32x32 texture fix up and a 64x64 texture pack. I've a 'decent' (core 2 duo, 4gb, GeForce 8800 gts) compy, and it still runs like glass, but it looks oh so much prettier.

Heh heh, water viewing room...

water_viewing_room.png

[edit] That's completely submerged btw. Trick stationary water into becoming a waterfall and it acts as a wall.

This >>> From Dust

Saw this on the MC forums a while ago - amazing stuff! If MC 2 was in this engine it would be the most awesome thing ever.

so i found yet another HUGE cave system under my property.
LOTS of lava and water towards the bottom.

its accessible through a long stairway i made in the middle of this pond right inside my castle walls if anyone wants to check it out :D

Holy crap. Seriously, the ultimate sandbox.
At first I was pretty skeptical, but given Ubisoft is behind it, it could actually happen. Though, Given the controls in the video, it makes me nervous that it might be designed for consoles.

it does look pretty damn cool, although at the end of the video, it lists Xbox360 and Ps3... it says nothing about the PC :(

I would love to see this make it's way to the PC as long as they leave their DRM out of it.

Yeah, the fact that Ubisoft owns that tech is a little worrying, but it still looks cool.

Actually I got the impression this vid was just showing off the Developer tools, not the actual game. The game-play itself is just "god-game" type game-play, like all you actually get to do in the game is try to build a civilization to cope with the changing world environment, not actually build the land-scape or anything? I'm a little confused about how the actual gameplay is supposed to work, but I got the impression that the stuff in this video doesn't have a whole lot to do with it.

Not sure if I would actually want to play the game From Dust, but it looks like the engine would be perfect for next MineCraft, as long as it's still in first-person and they don't screw with too much of the basic game-play mechanics.
