most games are still using mostly dx 9 with some dx 10 features thrown in. we are nowhere near seeing what dx 10 can do. in two years we will though. take fallout 3. it looks amazing and whats it running on....directx 9.0c.
 
I wouldn't desribe fallout3 as amazing, haven't played too much but it still seems to suffer from alot of what was suffered in oblivion (draw distances). The main one was the inbuilt limitations on the pc version that just weren't needed. I ain't saying that dx10 would magically be better but the main thing is that not everyone want's to exclude whole sections of gamers like crytek.

Games can't move faster than the majority of hardware, it will be interesting to see what things look like when the next steam survey is taken, that might give us an idea of just when we are likely to see actual progress.
