From Micro Center's Facebook page:

We are very pleased to announce plans to add 4 new next-generation Micro Center stores in the next 18 months or so, and wanted our Facebook fans to be among the first to know! These new stores in Maryland, New York and Wisconsin, and more that are to follow represent the largest expansion in the history of our business, which currently operates 23 stores nationwide. We want to introduce our shopping experience to a whole new group of customers. Competitive pricing, a huge selection and associates that know what they are talking about are what we think our customers deserve. The first of these stores is in the Baltimore area, it will be 40,000 sq. ft. and is slated to open in November this year, followed by a 60,000 sq. ft. store in Queens, New York in mid 2013. Other stores, all part of our next-generation format will continue to open in late 2013 and on. We will keep you posted on how we’re doing. In the mean time, tell all your friends that live in these areas!

It is in Baltimore. The official statement says so lol.

I live about 15 min from the Fairfax store, but I can't complain about having 2 more stores within a reasonable distance if the deal is good enough (ie the $199 2600k deal).

Where in NY? I don't have the faceb00ks

edit - you edited your OP. Just saw it's in Queens. Awesome! :D

Ugh, I wonder why there isn't a Micro Center in the Phoenix area. Its metro area population considerably larger than areas where they already have stores and waaaaay bigger than any metro area in Wisconsin where a new one is opening. Maybe it's because there are Fry's Electronics stores here.

THEY'RE CLOSING DOWN SANTA CLARA THOUGH!!!!! AHHHHH!!!! This is horrible!

We need a Microcenter here in Austin. Fry's needs some competition, guys.

Amazon is talking about moving more warehouses into many states to deliver over night shipping. Microcenter is starting their fastest growth ever. The best buy CEO is shitting his pants, while he lies through is teeth claiming it is all under control as they enact their copy apple stores plan.

I really wish they'd come to Pittsburgh, but as long as the Mayfield Heights location isn't going anywhere, I've still got a place to go for my pilgrimage when I build new machines :)

I'm glad that they're expanding, though. Sucks to be Best Buy where Microcenter sets up shop.

I lived near the one in Denver Tech Center, never knew how good I had it as I was not building at that time. Then I moved, and noted how good the CPU prices where there. Recently, I took a 2 buses and 2 trains from North East Philly to St. Davis, not a short trip, just to buy the 3770K CPU. It was worth it, got my CPU for $290.

I should note however that taxes do add up, vs no taxes online, but it was still the best price by far.

Double check your CPU though, they tried to pawn me a non K version, not the sharpest tools in the shed worker wise. Even after I pointed it out, they still did not believe me. I had to do a whole "trust me" song and dance.

We've got one out here in S. Denver. Great store with some occasional killer deals, but they no longer seem to get video cards anywhere near their release date. Going back a few years, you used to be able to show up when they opened and grab the latest and greatest on release day.

All we have here in the Buffalo, NY area is a Best Buy. :( Used to have a CompUSA and Circuit City until they went out of Business. Buying computer parts are here is practically non existent. Even the Ohio one is 5 hours away for me which is a waste of time. (20 gallons round trip means nearly $80 in gas.)

crap! that's no good, I was planning an upgrade. now what am I going to do about my cpu purchase? Also just because we have a bunch of tech stores here doesn't mean they have decent prices. microcenter seems to be the only ones willing to compete in any way.

haha same with me where i live, use to be CompUSA and they had kick ass deals once in a while that blown me away, no wonder they shut down. so it's been same with me for computer parts (either drive 10 hour round trip or shop at wostbuy)

Come on Microcenter show NC some love. Perfect place would be the Raleigh-Durham area with all the college kids and tech companies.

I'm happy for this, my friend had told me a few months ago they are opening 1 like literally 3 blocks from me! :)

Hope they hurry up with this!

I'd really love to see them come to Florida, the closest store is in Atlanta. 5+ hour trip one way really isn't worth it.

Don't be greedy! San Antonio doesn't have jack (Altex doesn't count...)

Down here in the Corpus Christi area we don't have diddly squat. Best Buy/Office Depot/Walmart/Target/Radio Shack and some overpriced ma and pa shops is it. The Valley doesn't have jack either.

I'm 1/2way between Chicago & Milwaukee. Would be nice to be able to avoid Chicago traffic...and if something is OOS in chicago/central I can go to milwaukee.

Yeah, what this guy said. There are 2 Fry's Electronics in the valley which is a huge square mileage to cover. Luckily, one isn't horribly far for me but the other day I went in for a sound card and let's just say the selection was pitiful. A once new, fully stocked store in the north valley has really, really gone downhill.

Bring on the MC!

Yeah fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck. I live in San Francisco and it is a trip for me, but on CPUs it's worth the god damn drive! Fry's... not so much... doubly so since Fry's doesn't need to price match!

I'm quite pissed about it, I wanted to send them an Email letting them know of the old Levitz store in South San Francisco! :D But I'm guessing rents might be more favorable down south... even though the Levitz store has been vacant for years.

Yeah I went there today to see if they had officially closed. as of the 23rd they've been closed... sucks to be me.
