Mecha Break

*After waiting literally 22 years for someone to combine Zone of the Enders /w Gundam's tone*

I don't understand why we've never gotten a Gundam game like this. Every game that has come to the US has been some gimmick of one type or another. That recent short-lived FPS was just an Overwatch clone.

Seems very cool so far. And graphically taxing for my archaic 1080Ti.
Hoping its not going to be F2P and P2W as it looks like its going to have season passes and loot boxes.

Eh...I was really hoping this would be a PvE game, not interested in 6v6 PvP. I did try the beta but I honestly didn't even finish a single match past the tutorial. Had to force-close the game as well, it seems there is no way to exit during a match.

.... Bandai sits on their hands with the Gundam license and this kinda ish pops up.. I swear
Seriously. One would think making a good Gundam game like this would be easy, but all they have made in more than 3 decades is gimmicky crap, even the stuff that was never exported to the US. The first game I played that had the Gundam feel was Omega Boost, and then Kojima comes along and schools Bandai on how to make a Gundam game with Zone of the Enders.

Steam reviews not being kind to this beta.
Looks like they're about introducing the game's monetization scheme and how that will play out, but even that may not be final. The use of Anti-Cheat Expert is a concern, though.

There are a few woketards bitching about the attractive females (no mention of attractive males being a problem though) but the vast majority of the complaints center around the monetization scheme and how predatory it is. It's like how The First Descendant was but worse. It also blocks progress on anything you can grind for in game. A simple pilots outfit will take you three weeks to earn at a minimum and that doesn't count the helmet and all that.

I played the beta and found the basic gameplay fun. Unless the monetization takes a lot of queues from how TFD has changed since it came out, I won't be playing the actual release. Too limiting to play for free and I'll be damned if I will pay for each mech I want, etc.

yup. the bums and boobs on the realistic body styles bounce and giggle. reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The multiple convoluted currency systems are always a bad sign that the publisher is hoping to monetise the fuck out of a game - just fucking awful. Having now played for a couple of hours it at least seems that they are mainly directed at cosmetics - the core currency required for unlocking mechs and weapons research does not require extensive grinding, although that can always change. I have already unlocked most of the mechs without much effort.
