I sold my mvc2 for 70 on craigslist to fund my SFIV CE, also because I had the newer non-BC 80gb ps3. Nice to have an HD version now.
 
Bump... it's getting closer! This time next week, we will be reliving the glorious MvC2! Um... 'till then, I'm still playing my DC version :)

By the way, what does the 'Pringles' reference denote?
 
What's the release date/price, and is it a downloadable over PSN for the PS3? Did it get a graphics overhaul? Thanks for any info.
 
Approx. $15 USD, it is coming to the PS3 Aug. 13 IIRC, and as far as graphics, you can play in 1080p. I believe they smoothed out the sprites or something like that, as well as changed the POV.
 
they added a widescreen mode, that was really it, but the gameplay itself is still 4:3. It does play better than the PS2 and xbox versions.
 
wow I just checked.... Capcom is being a real...... Why release the 360 version first july 29th for 360 and Aug 13 for PS3... I thought the 29th was for both and here I was gearing up for the game by buying another DS3.
 
They just changed different filter types for the game and added more of the background (its there for eyecandy but you cant go further than the original box for the stage).
 
Is there gonna be some kind of quarter match mode? Having over 2 players in one game and observing would be a nice treat. Unlike SF4...
 
Does anyone else feel like 15 dollars is high? Granted you get a few updates but in comparison I feel like BF1943, and GTA 4 expansion offer a lot more. I will probably still buy MvC2 because it was my favorite 2D fighter, I just think it is a little high in comparison to what else is out there on XBOX LIVE ARCADE.
 
The game is still hugely popular in tournaments. For tournament organizers, this is a chance to retire the Dreamcast for good, as they are is short supply, and unreliable. Also, there are still royalties to be paid to Marvel. Also, bottom line, I think they know it will sell a certain amount of copies, so 15 dollars times X is good enough for them, and if it does better, great. If it doesn't, it will discount quickly.

EDIT: I will be waiting and playing at midnight. Feel free to challenge me on XBL.

Considering how popular the game still is, and the prices it was going for in the used market, no, I don't think the price is high.

Keep in mind that Capcom has to license all of those Marvel characters too.

The used market is already adjusting. The resale value on this game for the Dreamcast is probably around 25-30 dollars which is half of where it was 6 months ago. What gamer that is interested in this game just owns a Dreamcast?

I understand the licensing fees but put this into comparison to what else is on Xbox Live. All I was saying is that I feel like GTA Expansion, which was an entirely new game, and BF1943 which was like a expansion pack are better values for the money.

MVC2 is probably has tha most longevity of any game in the last 10-15 years. It still gets large tournament play 10 years later. It has a huge fan base, and it will also be the first chance to play it online outside of Japan. To Mahvel players, this is HUGE.
 
this is an extremely easy game to pick up too..especially compared to sfiv lol. Lots of good fun too.
 
Yeah it's easy in a way, but some stuff still takes some execution to get out haha.
 
Not bad, but not time to retire the Dreamcast yet...a few bugs, but the netcode is good. Low ping matches were almost like local play, I can do all my combos, they just need to patch a few bugs and it's ready for prime time!

I still rock out MVC2 on my friends Dreamcast a few times a year, now that it is on 360 though keke I think we will be playing it alotttt more..

What bugs have you experienced? The only bug I know of now is the widescreen glitch where some images and sprites still appear in the 4:3 aspect ratio.
 
its out today for Xbox Live. But for the people who want it for the PS3 like me we have to bear another 2 weeks, Sigh.

A slowdown at the beginning of the match, and slowdown/freezing on character select screen. One crash trying to fast forward to a new track while a match was starting.

I hate that, seems to be the plague of any 1v1 game.

What ppl need to realize is that there will always be some else who is better than them.Tough pill to swallow of course but when they get over themselves they'll enjoy gaming alot more!!
 
Amazingly I didn't download this last night despite the fact that I purchased a 1600 XBL point card yesterday just for it...

I turned my 360 on and saw that despite paying $30 for both of them, I've put almost no time into BF1943 nor Outrun Arcade (or Worms really). I know I'd play the heck out of MvsC 2 but I really want to get more time into BF1943 first...and I just re-purchased Gears 2 and re-discovered Diablo 2: LoD...

Something amazing happened last night. I played 2 matches online and won both! This is coming from someone who owned MvC2 on the dreamcast and still to do this have never executed a hyper hyper (3 guys on screen) combo.

After getting my ass handled to me in Puzzle Fighter 2 I am thinking I may have a chance online with this MvC2 bullshit. So any friend requests?

I downloaded it yesterday, haven't played it much yet though. Also finally got SFIV so I'm not sure which will get the majority of my playtime over the next little while.
 
Anyone playing this with the 360 left analog stick? I'm surprisingly good with it compared to the crappy d-pad.
 
I threw the demo in last night and used my 360 pad, it was actually pretty responsive.

I've also got an XFPS 3.0 and a PS2 controller that I planned on using for Tekken 6 that I might try.
 
Tomorrow is the big day for us PS3 folks! I have money in my eWallet waiting for this....ahhh the anticipation!!!

I hope PSN won't become a crazy lag-n-crash-fest. I'll just sit there at noon, refreshing over and over until it appears.
