Marvel Rivals

Missed this game totally animation look good but just clash with each other.

its just an overwatch clone in a marvel skin suit.

It will probably do better than OW2 especially if they are free to play. I'm sure they'll make a ton of cash on skins given marvel comics long history. The game certainly proves that 6v6 isn't any worse than 5v5.

maybe. oh?! youre playing the beta?

I will be playing tonight for sure. Overwatch is pushing out a new tank next week as well as 6v6 testing later this month supposedly. Competition is good.

I want to try it, but there are so many other things that released this weekend.

What else are you interested in? Not many important FOS games? Delta force is gonna fade away imo. I think it's a weaker BF2042.

Path of Exile 2, The Thing, and Indiana Jones. I do want to try and sneak in Delta Force to try it out during its open beta period. Maybe I'll try this in a week or two, but I also still want to play through the rest of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Yeah that line was nonsense just from the beta tests for both games at the same time in July.

Edit:

So far, Rocket is still good for heals. Peni Parker is still a good defensive tank. Cap is a pretty good melee tank and fun to play. Cloak and Dagger is basically Moira from OW but with more options and a lot of fun. Still not a fan of Thor tanking. Ironfist is nasty to defend against and Jeff the shark was decently buffed from the beta. Psylocke is indeed genj but with temp stealth like sombra.

Half a million players this game is going to crush Overwatch because of the powerful lore of Marvel. Although to be honest I still like teh FPS view of Overwatch more and will never like 3rd person view more it just can't happen. Will I play it and see if i can tolerate it? yes but I won't like it more that fact will never change FPS for life lol.

I might have to try this... I'm a huge marvel comics fan and never played overwatch so the gameplay would be fresh.

I am a huge comic fan also been my whole life.
Did you ever play Unreal tournament 1999 game of the year? Or Quake 1996? The original arena shooters? As someone who grew up on these arena FPS games it's a specific type of shooter game. It's very fast and very frantic and the focus is fragging objective based. They are the opposite of battle royals. You don't waste time setting up finding sniper spots and gathering gear and ammo, you get straight into killing lol. It's non stop action and when you get killed, you spawn in less than 10 seconds always and get right back into it. It's very addicting with no down time. If you like FPS games and don't like collecting inventory and running around huge maps then arena shooters might be for you. It's the equivalent to battlefield infantry maps except hero shooters are different in that not everyone has a machine gun which gets repetitive. All heros have different abilities and ultimates and these differences give it variety. After years of graduating military style games shooting machine guns being in military shooter jail you might crave different abilities and powers and games like Overwatch and Marvel rivals set you free. Lol

Yep, I played the old arena shooters back then and loved them! I'll check this out as soon as I have some time to sit down and enjoy :D.

Having fun with it but don't really understand the heroes thus far. Would need to spend more time with it but it is fun. Some great shenanigans can be had.

Ive found Scarlet Witch to be a good counter to melee heroes hitting the back line. She is basically a dps moira, short to med range with limted long range. Easy to lock on and hold damage on fast movers usually. I don't remember her being so much fun in the beta but I only played her briefly then.

I play iron man, spidey and the asian chick with the antennas from guardians of the galaxy. Dr strange too. Just going to take time to understand the game. And that is the fun!

So, I played Overwatch 2, and had more frustration than fun with it, and felt like I'd avoid this game like the plague since it looked like a photocopy of that game. But I put probably 4-5 hours into this over the weekend, cause some of my Marvel fan friends really wanted to play it, and they seemed to be having fun with it in the chat.

I like support cause my accuracy sucks, and I saw Rocket Raccoon's heals will track your teammates and went "yeah, that'll do". Somehow, even though it looks and feels uncannily like Overwatch (the kill "ding" is probably the exact same .mp3 file and I literally called Black Widow "widowmaker" and called Magik "Reaper" at least 3 times) I had a lot of fun! After thinking as to how its possible I could have fun in a game almost exactly like Overwatch, this is what I came up with:
  1. All characters are unlocked from the get-go (I begrudge Overwatch 2 for making me play for 20 hours just to play as the character I wanted)
  2. Nobody is super sweaty yet (this might change in a month once the "meta" gets figured out, but for now this game is fresh water)
  3. Terrain is destructible in some cases (really sells the superhero element of it)
There's micro-transactions....but as far as I know they don't affect gameplay. So for now I'll keep it installed....I mean it is free fun after all.

Rocket is and was one of the best healers in the game. Easy to learn, not much aim needed for heals and get rocket pack away from attacks. All with a rez mechanic once per minute or so with team damage buffs.

Seeing as Blizzard successfully turned Overwatch into a F2P shitfest with worse gameplay mechanics I might as well give this a go.
I still like the movement better in overwatch. Some instances I felt like I was in quick sand or felt clunky Hero movement doesn't have the polish and fluidity OW has and it's not even close. Maybe they can remedy it with patches.
Also the fact that it is not a true FPS and 3rd person is another win for OW in my book.
What I love about Marvel is that it is competition in the same (or close enough being 3rd person it's not exactly a FPS) genre.
I tried a few heroes yesterday for the first time and I was already kicking ass and taking names with punisher and hella, the 2 natural heroes for a new player to play lol. So many headshots was dinking non stop haha
An interesting thing I found was how resource heavy the game was on maxed out setting at 4k. I saw the CPU and GPU push up pretty high especially the GPU pushing close to over 90% on a waterblocked 4090. I was diggin it the graphics look cool.

I can't take anything Freedo says seriously nor watch his content. His fanatical defense of 5v5 in OW the past year or so has been crazy. Of course, when he gets a sponsor ship from Blizzard and Porsche to drive cars and promote a Porsche skin for D.va in the game, that colors one's judgement.

Anyone noticed the ping system and voice chat system being buggy and pretty bad? The voice chat icon doesn't stay up when you press the voice chat button so I can't tell if I'm live or not when I talk. I'm used to Overwatch superior polish and it's really bothering me. What do you guys have your going button set to? And is it the same at the ping wheel or do you use a different button for the ping wheel? Cause when I ping it's a gamble what the ping system is going to do the consistency is terrible.
