March 2013 = Killin' it.

Indeed. Very ho-hum. I've pretty much written it off to sale bin fodder unless I see it hit and people are raving all over the place about it. And not false positive ravings like I saw with Far Cry 3 around here and then suddenly a few days or so after that game hit some of those people stopped posting and it got real quiet.

Well, in fairness Far Cry 3 was pretty awesome when you first started out, but as you play longer and longer you start to realize the tedium and all the problems with it.

I am still playing it and I am starting to feel like that. Started great, then it was ok, then was great again and now its boring me a bit.

On topic.
Excited for most of those games. Hope tomb raider and bioshock deliver.

I already have sim city and aliens preordered, I was on the fence on sim city until I tried the beta weekend and I was sold.

Also looking forward to fire emblem on the Nintendo 3ds.

Will pick up Heart of the Swarm whenever its available.

FE on the 3DS looks really good. I wish the bundle with it included a 3DS XL instead of the normal version. I'd much rather have a XL.

Still pretty boss that they are making a bundle with that game.
I never expected a TBS game to be a system seller, but here it is. Personally, on the fence with it. Backlog...

if 'killin it' equals 1 no doubt Day 1 buy (Bioshock Infinite) and 1 potential great game (Tomb Raider) then yeah...Metro: Last Light is another AAA no brainer but it will most likely be delayed...if Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is released in March then that's also on my list

They made a bundle? I don't remember. I was into action and ignored pretty much all TBS games back then.

I think he means it was a system seller. I like Fire Emblem more than Advance Wars, but those GBA Advance Wars games were very good.

Yeah, I don't know if it was a bundle but I know a lot of people bought the system for that game.

Ah, yes indeed. I totally understand.
I MIGHT get FE, at release. The demo has grown on me, and I've been playing Devil Survivor alot lately. It's not that I didn't like the genre before, I certainly had a preference for RPG.
Ah, now it all makes sense. Haven't played a good RPG in a while...

A:CM is developed by Gearbox, same people who made Borderlands 1 + 2, not to mention HL:OF as well. They have a good track list and I doubt they are going to fail at this title (Duke Nukem Forever doesn't count because they were told to polish a turd with what they had). I don't know where people are seeing negative talk about the game, all I'm seeing it positive.

Most of what I've heard from other publication sources is not overly positive. I believe it was RPS who did a preview on it a bit ago and it wasn't the most comforting thing. Joe's video just lists features of the game. Doesn't sound like he's played it yet, so that is nothing more than a "hey, I think this will be cool" video, not really anything to judge how the actual game plays and works on. His list isn't wrong, if the game comes together well all of those things will kick ass.

I think Gearbox does some great stuff, but Borderlands is pretty far away from Aliens.

Gearbox needs to make a few more good games not named Borderlands before they get elevated into elite status in my book

these days i work with the presumption that they all are gonna suck, this way i'm never disappointed. i have 0 (zero) expectations for all these games, if some of them turn out to be good, i'll be surprised. pre-order my fucking ass.

Colonial Marines does not look good by any stretch, and every preview, including more from the past two weeks, are turning a lot of people away. No true tension or fear, clunky gameplay and the visuals only look good regarding the Aliens themselves. The "action" aspect is not there either. Aliens running straight at you, you shoot them, they die, you continue down the corridor. Even when they're hopping around the room, there's no tension and it looks far too easy.

I've watched a lot of video on it and it couldn't possibly look more boring, unfortunately. Even the MP looks weak. Check the previews and the vids all over YT. I'd suggest steering clear, ironically, especially if you're an Alien fan. I couldn't be more disappointed in what I've seen, being the biggest Alien fan since I was a kid, and I'm now 38. Ugh.

As for other titles:

Grim Dawn (I'll be in the beta)
Crysis 3 (though that's this month; just good fast-paced shooting, now that I've got it actually running well)
Dead Island: Riptide
FireFall ("soft" release)
Sim City (a toss-up; not happy about the always-on, but the biggest problem is the cloud saving and feeling of getting half a game for $60, yet I'm drawn to the series/game; tough call)
Resident Evil 6 (from what I've seen, it's a "maybe", depending on if it's really gone more back to it's roots)
Bioshock Infinite (has me intrigued, but not sure yet)

Hoping to also get into the ES:O beta and even the Marvel Heroes beta.

Feels like I'm missing something here, though...
I agree Aliens looks like a huge let down. Aliens 2 being in my top 5 favorite movies of all time I had high hopes for this game. Unfortunately shooters sell better than survival horror games.

RE6 sucked too. More of a shooter than survival horror. The producer came out recently and said that RE is going back to its roots and the reason that their games have moved to more shooter/action orientated is because they sell better in the West.

Hopefully he holds true to that. Favorite RE games of all time were on the Gamecube. RE and RE Zero were awesome. Love having the fixed camera when you walk into a room and not knowing exactly where the moaning noise you here is coming from.

If it was one of your top 5 favorite movies you think you'd know it's just "Aliens", not "Aliens 2". ;)

Shit I probably won't even have my pc back up and running by march but if I do I'm going to be spending lots of time back with MWO and Strike Suit Zero. Can't wait to make a music video for the latter :D

Still need to finish FC3, too. Bah!

I pre-order a few games, but I rarely ever find bad ones. It's usually pretty easy to figure out if I will like a game or not long before it's out. There are exceptions to that, of course, but right now I can't remember the last game I pre-ordered that I hated.

Sim City is of interest to me, but the DRM and Origin are real downers. I love city building games and I think Ill end up anticipating the next citiesXL release.
I dont care about playing with other people so if I do end up going for Sim City, Ill just find a crack and say fuck you to the DRM.

Tomb Raider actually looks good. Her breasts dont look as impressive, but I used to love the TR games and this is a good chance to get back into them.

I couldnt give a rats ass about SC.
Bioshock was a day1 buy for me and it failed to impress me, I only put a few hours into bioshock2 before loosing interest.

RE6...The origional RE was one of my first top games, but the rest have not matured as I grew older...they seemed stuck with a childish story when I would have liked it to get grittier and darker over the years.

Im fucking stoked for Metro. I loved the original, and even if last light is half as good as the first, It will still be excellent.

Im really disappointed with what Aliens looks to be ending up as, but I shouldnt be surprised.

Haha yeah true my bad. I said it like that incase people weren't sure which number Aliens was.

Ironic that you bring up Aliens, since it basically dropped the survival-horror aspect of Alien in favor of military shooting. :)

^^^ * 1000!!!

I just recently got BioShock 1 and 2 as a bundle (along with Spec Ops The Line) and I think I paid less than $10 for all...!!! I've been mainly multiplayer gamer for the last few years, not even looking at single player titles at all. But I've burned out on MP (hacking, n00bs, 12yr olds, etc) and needed to get away. Installed BS1 and was sucked into the story line. After the first 30min of playing, I knew I was gonna go back and replay it in "harvest" mode. Spent 6hrs straight playing it the first night. Couldn't step away from the PC. The story, the graphics (even it's few yrs old) the hidden secrets, hacking (pipeworks), enemies, and weapons are all very entertaining. Once of the best games I've ever played. At the beginning of this week, I loaded up BS2... It's basically a continuation of the BS1, with minimal (if any) improvements in graphics, which was good to begin with. New enemies (Big Sisters, gorilla-like guards, etc) loads of fun. Unfortunately, it has a bit of foul console-port stench to it. Hacking was made too fucking easy, probably for the console whiners. After you set off an alarm trying to hack a safe for example, just try to quickly hack it again (successfully this time) and the bots will leave you alone. In BS1 once the bots were onto you, you had to kill em or hack them to survive. sound levels are messed up in some pars of the game, etc. If BS1 is a 5 out of 5, BS2 get's only a 3.5 from me, because of the port. I hope they put a bit more effort into BS Infinity for PC, but the way things are going lately in the gaming industry, it's highly doubtful.. . I WANT to buy it the day it comes out, but I will NOT. Will wait for reviews, and probably a month or two for a PC patch to address console port bullshit....

A lot of the issues with the PC versions of the first two games were due to 2K Australia doing basically a straight port. They weren't really all that buggy, but had other issues. I don't think 2K Australia is doing the PC port of Infinite and Irrational has announced some features that make it seem like this port will be much better than the last two games.

im a little skeptical on bioshock too.

it looks a lot less scary and a lot more action.. like healthbars on enemies and shit.. idk.

we will see. i am still gonna give it a shot because the bioshock games are good. although 2 doesnt touch 1 in my opinion.

1 wasn't exactly scary either. It was really atmosphereic and had tense moments, but I'd never classify it as scary. A lot of that was due to the look of the world and with Infinite they changed the art style with Infinite. I haven't actually seen any trailers for Infinite since uhh....One of the early ones where they were showing off a lot of the skyhook stuff so I can't comment on that but Ken Levine did say that the box art and advertising focused heavily on the action because they have to draw in a wide audiance.

South Park:The Stick of Truth - Love South Park, glad they are finally making a game worthy of it.
Metro: Last Light - Now that I have a 7970 I really want to play this.
God of War Ascension - Love God of War, looking through game play videos, probably a day 1 purchase for me.
Sim City - Looks very interesting to me. I love games like this.
SC2 HotS - Completely apprehensive seeing as how blizzard has really fucked up lately.

I agree, BS 1 or 2 were never meant to be scary IMO... They just had an eerie, spooky, and gory feel (smash dead bodies with the wrench..;) The underwater setting, and sounds just added to that feel... And yes, BS1 is better. It also is longer to finish, due to much more expansive map design. You can literally walk in circles on BS1 maps, because by the time you've explored all rooms, and secret places, you'd forget what the start point of the level looked like..;) It took me around two weeks of plying abut an hour a day to finish BS1. I finished BS2 today, having started it on Monday....

This is the trailer that really got my hopes up for the BS Infinite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGXZ2VKRpwk

There is another one (15min one) that shows nothing but the skyhook acrobatics which look rather ridicules to me...

Keeping my fingers crossed for this game...

Bioshock is one of my all time favorite games mainly because of the story...the story was amazing...those who need to shoot or stab someone every 30 seconds might have been disappointed but Bioshock is one of the best examples of story based gameplay

the best news concerning Bioshock Infinite is that Ken Levine is back as creative director...that alone should make this closer in quality to the first game...plus he made a great decision to ditch Rapture and go with a new setting...Infinite is my most anticipated title this year

I was hyped as shit for Infinite when it was announced back in...09(?) but I think all that time kind of killed some of it. If this came out a year or so ago I would have bought that Songbird edition without any hesitation.

Why am I more excited about Aliens: CM then Bioshock Infinite? BECAUSE IT'S ALIENS GOD DAMN IT!!!!!

I've been waiting sooooooo many years for a true sequel to Aliens (Alien 3 was a great trilogy ender but you know we all wanted to see the marines again, don't lie). There hasn't been a true Aliens game with just Marines in a very long time and not many of them got the true justice it deserved. I've been waiting for this game to come out when they first announced it for the PS2 in 2002 (in case you don't remember or didn't know about this, here is a video)! AvP '99 by Rebellion was great and so was AvP 2 by Monolith but I know many people that would make multiplayer games and do what ever they could to not have Predators in the match. AvP 2010 was good but a let down because Rebellion decided they wanted to play it safe and they paid dearly for it ( Rebellion lays off employees shortly after release of AvP 2010), although I'm sure the economy had a little to do with that as well. The story is written by Mikey Neumann who wrote most of the stories for Gearbox and the script was approved by Fox studios (although probably not saying much; approved by James Cameron or Ridley Scott might have been a little more ground breaking), the Aliens look like they are suppose to, not to mention we are finally getting some true DIFFERENT types of aliens (huge let down by Rebellion with AvP 2010 when they promised new alien types and by new Alien types there wasn't any), the atmosphere looks spot on and I can't wait to shout "THEY'RE COMING OUT OF THE GOD DAMN WALLS!!!" here and then. One thing I'm sure is that the game will more than likely be linear but I'm ok with that. They are trying to tell an interactive story and some stories you just have to go with what they are telling you. Choosing branching paths is a huge +1 in any game especially with most games these days but sometimes I want to play a game with a simple story. I can go on here but I'm sure a lot of y'all are just going to roll your eyes. I'm an Alien fan and I will forever be one.

Bioshock Infinite looks really cool and I am excited about it as well but, it didn't really grab my attention. Sure the story is going to be great and the game play is going to be awesome but I'm going to do the same thing that I did with the 2nd Bioshock. Wait for it to go on sale on Steam. In my day and age, I have patience to wait for many games to be released. I don't necessarily have to buy every game that comes out day one but, I do make exceptions on certain titles. You don't have to like my opinion but that's just it, it's my opinion not yours.

From IGN's video of the single-player of Aliens is looks like a fairly generic FPS, not much to make it stand out outside of the aliens. The atmosphere looks alright but I think with so many games over the years having copied from Alien and especially Aliens it doesn't feel as special as it could have. The gunplay looks alright but admitidly that is pretty hard to judge just from watching someone play. I love the Alien movies (Resurrection aside) but if this game wasn't tied to Aliens I don't think anyone would be giving it the time of day. I hope I'm wrong but Colonial Marines looks like a disappointment.
