Malta 7990 on Newegg

I'm on the email list. Thanks for letting me know.

Getting 2 of these to power up 5 Asus VG248QE 144Hz 1ms monitors ( hopefully ) 144Hz isn't confirmed yet using 4 displayports and one DVI off of this video card yet.

I need one of these right now.

I just sold my Lightnings and have one 7990 on the way ( the new powercolor one ) . And I need another.....

Discontinued? Dafuq?

Sapphire's 7990 Malta was the only reference one I was interested in. Well okay, that and ASUS/MSI's, but sheesh...

After seeing the rumored specs on the 8900 series today, a big WHY BUY THIS just popped into my head.

Isn't AMD REALLY late to the game this round? I seem to remember 79XX series being around for over a year now. I googled and it looks like I was right. Almost a year and a half.

not really, 7970 is competitive with 680, and beats it in some games..

7990 is competitive with 690, and is actually quieter, and less power than 690.

they cant compete with the titan, but geez, whos buying those things at $999?

the Ares II (7970x2) wipes the floor with the titan, so for single cards AMD has the title.

for single gpu, titan obviously is the winner, but its waaayyy too expensive...i wouldnt bother competing with that either...

It will be intersting to see how the Titan LE competes, as its the only new 110 coming out, the others are souped up 104s...

I wasn't talking about performance. I was talking timeline. I don't remember it being 1 1/2yrs to 2yrs for a refresh.

if everything is currently competitive, how could they be late?

the 7970 came out before the 680, so wouldnt nvidia be late to the game?

Why do a refesh if you are already in the lead?

They're late because new Nv cards are coming in two weeks or less. Their performance lead to coming to an end.
No one will paying attention to the 7990 after that, except in benchmarks.

$999 gets the ignore button. $699 and more people will consider it.

Nice of AMD to leak their 8000 specs to keep AMD buyers from getting antsy.
Nv does it all the time to AMD when they're late.

sold out again,

geez, what did they get like 2 or something?

lol

yup, big fat sold out on the right side,,,

unless theve changed the sku, they do that sometimes to fool the page campers...

Maybe they're selling only limited quantities at a time to price gouge (ala Titan)?

probobly tied up in peoples carts

They remove them form inventory for a period of time when you add them to your cart so you dont get a sold out message when you go to check out.

Couple hours i think.

Newegg rep said they had 16 of the Sapphire 7990's available when I called before ordering one.

Adding an item to your cart does nothing to the inventory count until your order is submitted. And even then sometimes the item is already sold out within the timeframe of when you're placing your order and the inventory just hasn't updated in their system yet which results in you getting an out of stock e-mail a few minutes after placing your order.

ive had the opposite experience.

in the past, ive had several items in my cart that showed sold out on the item page, but i still purchased and recieved the items without issue.

How are you not able to follow what I'm talking about? Apparently you think my statement is fanboy motivated. It isn't. If AMD and Nvidia kept their current parts for 5yrs you wouldn't say they were late to the game with a refresh because they perform on par with each other?

Used to be, thats been some time ago now, we used to see two versions a year from each manufacturer. For example. X1900XT to X1950XT & GTX280 to GTX285. These days we're pushing fricken 1 and half years, soon to be 2 for AMD's refresh.

Am I the only one noticing this?

umm..not at all

being as you say "late to the game" implies they dont have a competive part..

im not seing that. On either side...

Their release schedule is irrelevant...perhaps you should be saying "they aren't releasing with the same frequency"

that might be more accurate

No it doesn't. I had to clarify myself twice and each time made the statement it wasn't about "team". I can't help the fact you couldn't understand that. I swear people and their video cards are worse than people in religion. Dense.

i still dont get it...

nobody is late to any game..

i havent the faintest idea what you are talking about....if anyone else does, please speak up

franky, it sounds like you are talking in circles..

moving right along...

I own a 6990.. dual gpu cards are rediculously over priced. My 6990 is still hyper powerful.

I've been on auto-notify for all 4 brands on Newegg for 3 days now and not a single email. :-(

I need 2 of these....

I still have not caught any of these in stock... did AMD underestimate the demand or what? Titan went OOS a lot too at launch but they restocked almost every day.

Pretty sure this is some bogus BS to keep prices over MSRP. There's just no way they're that popular with the reviews that came out (which are good, but most point to it being too late for celebration).

I still want one, but if this shit continues I'll just have to get 2x 7970s and use the remaining moneys to upgrade my PSU. Currently have 700W, which is fine for 7990 but underpowered for 7970CF + all the other shit I have running.

Also, I see a lot being resold on eBay which pisses me off.

Yea, I mainly want one for the lower power consumption. The card isn't really a good value but willing to pay a bit extra for that.

I'm ready to buy one at MSRP but they are sold out everywhere. I might just get the Sapphire or Powercolor one for 1049.00 off of Newegg. Its only 50 bucks more than MSRP. Tigerdirect has a Sapphire 7990 listed on their site for 1199.00. I have one of the 1st Gen Powercolor 7990's. Its going up for sale here on the forums once I get one of the new Malta 7990 cards.
