has to be solid state...otherwise it will break...basically the same concept as jogging with your ipod video. all in all a bad idea.
I don't think they'll do that. They're just spending a lot of time on the phone because it is a HUGE development.

i dunno if anyone mentioned this but i think the apple tv is kinda lacking if it doesn't have a tuner card in it. i figure if you're gonna try and go after some of the media center market you'd put a tuner card in it at least so ppl don't have to switch back and forth.
Who needs a tuner card? I'm glad it doesn't have one. I've already got a DVR with a big hard drive. I just want something to watch movies and TV shows and listen to music from my computer. In HD. I'll probably get one assuming it's sufficiently compatible with video formats.
Still no carrier announcement.

There are already a TON of these types of devices. apple tv is nothing new. I'd rather it had dual tuners, cable card support, etc.

I run 19 miles a week with my HD-based iPod and its never once showed signs of damage. My dad runs more than that with his and, like mine, its never once shown signs of slowing down. I'm sure everyone's logic is sound when they say this (moving parts blah blah blah), but I've owned iPods for about 4 years and have never had a single problem with a hard drive failing.
it's just on cingular's network. It probably won't be offered exclusively through any one carrier, if it's offered through carriers at all. Doing this will allow apple to ship the phone with the OS that it intends consumers to have, not some mangled version that a carrier requires (look at what verizon does to a lot of the firmware on their phones, not to mention things like crippling bluetooth).
Enough space for what? The "stuff" is stored on your home PC.

For me, I always wanted a decent internet browsing device. I think this one is it.
Then tell me what to get. I want HD support, digital audio out, visualization, and remote control. I have a thread asking for suggestions and no one has any. Help me out.

well thats good. but in general...with the abuse that a cell phone would take, it would have been a very bad idea to put in a hard drive. good thing SSD is up to 8gb+ now lol
Temporarily. It syncs with what you want it to sync with.

eh...why have 2 places store it? if you had one with a bigger drive you can just have it there and not have to wait for it to transfer over. i think they coulda done somethin with the mini...make it a bit taller vertically so you can have 2 drives in it for extra expansion and then add some tuners and whatever else you need.
Because you can sync from multiple computers. My GF can sync stuff, I can sync stuff, my roommate can sync stuff. I think it's a good idea.
