Im currently looking for an access point for my house to replace the tp link 901 I have as the 10/100 lan connection is bottlenecking my broadband.

choices at the moment are between

Engenius ECB600
Engenius EAP600
Ubiquiti Unifi UAP Pro

All are in the same price range, have gigabit lan, poe and dual band, the 2 engenius ones are essentially the same internals, but 1 has detachable antennas.

Have no experience with either as a brand.

I haven't dealt with Engenius but it has always peaked my interest. I have heavily used Ubiquiti throughout 200+ personally and mostly professional (work) jobs. I can't believe my luck to this day the timing, the open community of support that includes the employees, and the satisfaction that I've had.

My gripe with ubiquiti is that they used java for AirControl, other than that ... their products come as close to what is needed for any application of any scale and it's very simple to work with.

I operate a WISP of ~300 customers and this is the backbone of it, as well as the new kids on the block competitos choice of tool lol. Sacrificing quality for price ... they are mostly 10-30 year vets that huddled together after Motorola let go of the WISP industry before Cambium took over it's branding line. I've only replaced 3 Canopy APs in my 10 years, but they are almost 2,000 a peice .. so I know that if corners were cut, I can rely on the background information that they knew which ones.

I regret that the software controllers have been time consumin to plan out, but only miktrotik up to this point has ever offered anything close. I'd probably be persuing a different career if UBNT hadn't came along.

I have the uap one, jts great, I hammer pretty hard without issues

I received a unifi for Christmas, had it set up in less than 15 minutes, and it looks great!
