Dang, you got 128 processors running. And I wanted to bump FLECOM off the top, guess things might get interesting soon.

Welcome!

Didn't you read the rules? If you have more then 15 total processors running..
at least 10% have to fold under my name.. and 10% under Hito...

Kids these days!

Jk's Keep up the good work

*dust goggles on*

pwned!!

 Is there really anything else that can be said?!?

People and rules they just don't understand.

Looking good Logikality. I look forward to you passing me in a few weeks.

as you should be flashing past me in about 4 days or so. nice work but "damit Scotty we need more power" "Captain i'm giving ya all i've got"

to bad it appears some of my borgs have not been letting them run 24/7 and i have dropped from 8 to 4 boxen :(

And welcome Logikality!!!

Fold on!
Buck

I'm driving down the highway at 500+ PPD, and I got passed by a mach 3 (5500+ PPD) spy plane.

crapberries.......a couple more like him and we'll be knocking on the door of OCAU real soon.

A lot can happen in 4 days. Maybe your borgs will be used more. I'm lucky in that I only have 2 borged computers, so I don't expect much from them.

Let us know your setup Logicality.

That's gonna be sooner than you might think...

Stanford now has logikality at 142 active CPU's. I gotta strap ready, to attach myself to a nearby tree, as he blows by. May have to invest in an Air Compressor, for dusting off, after every teammate blows by. Canned air is getting expensive.

I guess my only question is...

Does he have any friends who want to fold as well?

Imagine a few of them getting started like that... and here i thought I was doing
good with my 5-10 computers (depending on the day)

Fold [H]ard----or Die [H]ard

He passed me faster than a speeding something or other today. Yikes

Spectre..... no cr4p, I watch my back to see who is coming up from below.... never saw him coming or going.... tho where I'm at, he was probably moving something like 3-6 pages a day......

Sorry for not getting here sooner, being sick and my clutch going out on me kept me off the boards for the last few days. I'm mostly a lurker though, been around since 2001.

I just started F@H and borged about 130 at the higher education lab and computer classrooms there, I basically take care of all the machines on campus. My job used to entail the same as a CompUSA Technician, but it has gone beyone that to installing OS to programs, so I get to decide what is run :)

It looks like while I was gone the night lab assistant didn't turn the machines off like they were supposed to. Those machines run 8-12 hours a day and at 65% cpu power I shouldn't be where I am. Another 4-5 days sooner didn't hurt. :D

Total there is about 250Ghz, I'm not sure how P4 HT works but I think there is another 67Ghz on the HT machines. Those all run at 65% power, I am hoping to get that higher next semester without the Technology Instructor complaining like he did this week.

I was looking at another thread about scheduled tasks running the program when a user isn't logged in, I could do that in the class rooms at 100% now, since the classes are only half full or do not use computers.

I created a startup script to copy the FAH console client, config file and a registry key, that is run after it is copied. This works well it just takes two reboots to get the console to start. Also it is easier to manage so many clients. ;)

EDIT: Well I answered my own question about the task scheduler, I fould the folder and am now going to test the new setup, wish me luck. :D

Speaking of doin' well. How about Marty's 11,222 point day yesterday. NICE!! That plus Logikality's 12,000+ day spells catching up to OCAU.

Hey that's cheating, I have not checked the stats yet and you ruined the suprise for me. It's only the begining.... (most of it, but I've got some more coming)

Logikality- There are many ways to run this program. One method I don't quite understand, is how OC-AMD runs it. I'm sure if you drop a note, spend some time in his forum group he would explain it or you could figure it out.

My understanding- XP task in the schedular, logout of user @ 10 minutes, this 5 minutes later. All folding is stored on a network share with the clients mapping to it.

HT- I've mamaged to mess this up so I've skipped it. It's in Stanfords best interest to skip it but, install the console in two different folders (F@H1/F@H2), set the config to machine ID 1/2 and use a reg hack to call the -local flag. I did not do the -local reg flag so I think this was my problem. The WU's would finish, but get stuck.

My others are much better with HT since most of them run it I'm guessing.

Good luck!

Edit: if you can run Big WU's. Points are insane, memory usage is a bit thou if someone was using the machine at the same time tho. 100meg for the normal big WU's. My opinion don't use the -advmetho flag for you, QMD cores hate being stopped. Mem usage on those is 200-325 meg currently.

Thanks for the info, I will stop using advmethods I think that is the problem I am having with the machines being slugish.

I got the HT working by adding the -local in the registy key, but it may look better to users if the processor is at 50% instead of 65%.

I finallly found a page on microsoft.com, I couldn't get to the site using opera so I tried IE, it tells how to use schtasks on the commandline to start a task and run it as the System account instead of a user.

Now about the big WU's, these machines run from 256 to 512 so I don't think it would be a good idea to run them on these machines. The room that has 512 also has the Photoshop class this semester so thats a no go.

-advmethods/QMD cores- Slugish: I read they take some time to close down, this could be why the machines are acting this way. Folding really should never slow down a machine (short of gaming), yea can't be having slugish machines.

256 ram/XP- That's really tight even without a actual user on the machines. Photoshop- you might be out of luck there too.

HT- Actually you might be able to do the reverse. Run one instance at 100%, Windows task manager will report 50% being used while actually 100% of the cpu is being used. Windows reports cpu usage on HT processors incorectly to my knowledge.

Logikality,

In my opinion, memory usage is the main culprit when it comes to sluggish response. The program is pretty good about giving up its cycles but the program still resides in memory. My guess is you would have the same response even if you set the computers up to 100% usage.

I must be really tired, it never dawned on me that running 2 instances would slow the machine down. I think I will set it at 100% for today and see what problems come up. The scheduled task will work but I will have to go to each machine or use the c$ share and copy the task to each machine and setup the user for each task. I was trying to get away from doing that.

Edited for spelling.

Edit2 I just realized what you said Marty, what I was trying to say is set the core ot run at 100% but it only shows as 50% in task manager. Before it ran two processes at 65% and one running at 100% looks better on a HT machine.

I think my biggest problem was ram, we have two cad programs, quickbooks, and photoshop as the main memory hogs. other than that its all office apps and IE.

Sounds like it's time to talk to your boss and request more ram :D

Congrats on the awesome borging run!

Well you should always aim high I suppose...

Just wait until I get my farm up ;)

You can just pop into 2cpu.com and ask him he is registered under Overclocked-XEONs.

Well this has been rolling around in my head for a couple hours, so what I am going to do is run the program without -advmethods and let them stay at 100%. After this WU on all the machines it shouldn't be a problem. I will watch it closely though and see how they do over the next couple days. I think that was the only thing that was slowing the machines down.

Take away the numbers and our lines look the same :p
Untill I take a trip down to the local design school I'm about maxed, just waiting for my last batch to send in their first WUs. But once I b0rg the computers down there .....MUAHAHAHAHA.

Oh, and KodiakStar. I'm coming for you.

You will have to try hard, my friend just did some borging under my name... dual xeon w/ HT (4x clients) his amd mp 2100+ (+2 more clients) a p4 2.3 and possibly more later... *cough cough*

Fold [H]ard----or Die [H]ard

I can not really offer much advice on folding on machines "humans" use. It's a lonely world @ my place... :)

My guess would be using wintask somehow to run at 100% when nobody is using the machines (logged out or what not), then stop/pause when the machine is in use.

Good luck!

son of a ... sigh, your actually going to make me get up from my fat arse at work and borg more machines arnt you?

sigh... i already got off my ass to borg two labs, guess i will have to borg another 6 or something :D

the things i do  ;)
