LG Put Windows 10 On A Fridge

I'm going to be honest, I was fully on board with the "smart appliance" thing a few years ago. After getting a couple I am completely off that hype train. I'm glad they exist for those that like them, but for me I just want it to do its damn job without costing me a fortune because the "smart functions" broke and disabled the entire damn thing. I don't need my fridge or anything else interfacing with my phone or the internet for any reasons. I am perfectly capable of remembering when I'm getting low on something.

It never ceases to amaze me how much hate there is for Windows 10. If you hate it so much, how come you use it enough to bitch about it constantly? There are plenty of other OS's out there you should be using. If my shoes hurt my feet, I don't bitch about the shoes, I get different shoes.
Microsoft employee? ;)

Yeah, if this had Android on it, they would most likely be praising it up for being a great Google innovation. Otherwise, it does not surprise me that folks hate on stuff around here, it is the in thing to do. Take a look at the Steam Survey thread and it will not take long to figure out where the hate for that is coming from. :D

I hated the android version too.

I agree. If you have that much money, then a sub zero refrigerator and viking gas range would better serve you. And you better put it in a house that's $200-$250/sq ft. Otherwise you have more money than brains. Everyone knows support for this refrigerator will be at best two, three years. After that it's a "Please upgrade your $5000 fridge" which is just brain-dead stupid.

And you really wouldn't want a see through fridge. I clean my glass shelves once a month and they are still a mess. And 1/4 of the time the strawberries end up growing mold.

I have a 5 and 10 year old child. I feel like 5 minutes after a full scrub down the fridge looks like it hasn't been touched this side of last century. It actively frustrates me how much mess 2 mini humans seem to create.

Because the very existence of some people requires bitching about something. Bitching is like sustenance for them. If they couldn't bitch about something, they would shrivel up and die.

The bottom line is that the market works very well for this type of stuff. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Just because I don't have a use for it does not mean someone else wouldn't find utility in it.

That gave me a good belly laugh because I so know what you are talking about.

It's because they took something that worked really well (Windows 7 interface) and screwed it up because they were panicking about android and iOS. It's a pain in the tail to find some very simple and basic things compared to windows 7. The unified windows platform store is just a cash grab. Add to this, Cortona and all the metrics storage is just a way to collect data on you, to target you for stuff you don't want with invasive ads on the start menu.

On the plus side, it boots really quick and the security upgrade is a nice. Although I believe UEFI will be a virus garden of Eden one day, once more exploits show up.

It's the same fucking interface. If it you think it's that different, then you really have a seriously problem with any sort of change. The change from XP to 7 was greater than the change from 7 to 10 and while I'd be the first to agree that they need to get everything from control panel into settings (even if they keep control panel).

This reminds me of people constantly bitching when we went to 7 and the classic menu went away. OH the bellyaching on [H]. For those of us that actually keep up with the modern OS, we thought, "People still use the windows 95 menu?"

Thanks but to thanks. I like my appliances dumb. Vacuum robot is running Linux and I swear its "learning" algorithm makes it noticeably dumber. I will never ever connect it to the Internet.

No, with an android OS it would require you to sign into google to update the latest patch to run angry birds or twitter or chrome.

Re "It's the same fucking interface."

No, it isn't. Even in 10 you have two different control panels. One that is the fluffy bunny tablet one and the real one. At least it is easier to get to again with a more traditional start menu.

the hate (rightfully so) comes from the EXCESSIVE AMOUNT of information gathering it does....

Yes, rightfully so, but don't forget to put it in the perspective of everyone is using programs, websites, services that are gathering all that information anyways. The data being collected from your smartphone is probably astronomically worse. It sure sucks that this kind of thing is built directly into the OS though.

Just a little bit of an inconvenience taking it to the Geek Squad for them to find all the porn on it.. I mean.. fix it

Did you read beyond the first line? Apparently not, since you bring up a criticism that I alluded to in the post. And even then, if you just type what you want, it comes up in the start menu. Of course if you're still hunting and pecking to find crap in the start menu, then you'll be pissed for the rest of your life, because that's not how the system is optimized.

Type windows update and it comes up with "Check for Updates" or something like that. The only change is that instead of me opening Control Panel and searching for something, I just search for it (which I probably could have done in 7/8, but I didn't do it that way)
