SSSSHHHHHHH don't tell people you can pay anything other than 50 bucks. We want to weed the dumb ones out.

£26.99 is nothing really when I know I'm gonna get many hours of fun out of the game.

People are dumb because they are not interested in friend packs?
Maybe we dont have friends!!!!

Game looks great! big fan of L4D. But money is tight. Plus i felt a little taken back when I saw it the original for 75% off by xmas. so I will wait until after xmas and hope to pick this one up for 75% off!

L4D was an awesome game. However...
I'm having a hard time bringing myself to play L4D2. I think I've logged 20 minutes into the demo...if that. I don't know what it is- I'm not tired of L4D, and this is a new game. I think it is the community...the games I've played blew, and so did the players. I'm tired of idiots running around not knowing what the fuck they are doing, etc. etc. That is going to make me hate the game. As said by me before, if the game community is going to be like the original L4D when it first released, I'd be all over it...but lately, the L4D community sucks ass. I'm hoping the true players only get L4D2, but we'll see. Also, I got tons of lag, which was another huge reason.

In my opinion, this kind of elitist attitude is what ruins game communities. I've found both L4D and Demigod players to have this kind of attitude, and it is what causes new players to the game to leave it. What is a 'true' player? I would argue that there is no such thing, as each person has their own opinion on how they want to play the game.

A true player isn't someone who hasn't even bothered to complete the single player campaigns, doesn't quit as soon as they start losing, and doesn't scream at people when they dont accept their "leadership"

Played it for 15 min on 360, got bored and deleted it, same with first L4D. Give me Dead Rising 2 please

i'd rather play with someone who constantly shoots me, or runs into a herd of zombies like an idiot than play with the "L4D know it all". i absolutely can't stand it when some dipshit constantly barks orders at everyone else, or screams "OMG check your fire! this is expert NOT easy!" every time they run into your LOF. friendly fire happens...noobs accidiently set off car alarms...this shit happens. get over it.

I just played this demo. I'm a bit unimpressed. The graphics are seriously dated which is something I expected, and it's of course not the end of the world. The improved gore is nice and I like some of the new weapons. The melee combat is OK but it's somewhat repetitive. Overall I think the improvements make for a better game and the first one should have been more like this from the start.

Still I wouldn't pay full price for it. I don't think it's "that" much fun.

It's L4D with more weapons hooray. I was honestly as disappointed as I thought I would be. The novelty of the melee weapons wore off in about 2 minutes, especially with weapons like the Magnum you could carry instead. The only good new infected is the spitter, the jockey and charger are just... bad. Bile bombs are retarded, most of the new guns are pretty cool but the some of the models are about five times bigger than they need to be. A lot of the updates that are included in this game could have been put into L4D months ago easily.
They could have tried to make infected more fun than just...
Hunter: Making a 25 damage pounce, die in 5 seconds and wait 30 to respawn
Smoker: Make sure to pull someone off of that one crucial ledge in the map then die
Boomer: Throw up and die

Hate to burst your bubble , but its the Internet. If you can't handle social situations then maybe you should play console games by yourself. There are going to be people that act in ways you may not like. Deal with it. I will agree with you that some people who connect to a game are absolutely annoying and probably pride themselves in being so, But you shouldn't let those people ruin the game for you. Just find a different server or tune them out. Remember if you don't pay any attention to them, they will go away.

I just dont play multiplayer games anymore, period. Because 95% of my online experiences have been nothing more than exercises in frustration.

I hear ya, mostly the same here. Plus, not playing with friends makes the multiplayer aspect that much less appealing. This is definitely a game meant to be played with friends

Though you do sound a bit elitist I have to agree I can't really enjoy a game with internet people but am lucky enough to have 4 solid people I play with.

There are those who absolutely love this game and those who absolutely hate this game.

I personally love this game, i think L4D is one of the greatest video games of all time. I played through the L4D2 demo more than 100 times already, and I still want to play some more.

How can anyone get bored from shooting zombies?

You've got a point and hate the wannabe PGs as much as anyone, but I don't think he's talking about people that play the way they want, using a frying pan instead of a gun or whatever. I read it as more of an objection to the sort of person that blunders around bumping off walls and requires the other three to keep running back and saving them from the single common infected that's keeping them tied up, and then having to fight off two tanks and a few hordes because the game director's detected that you're just standing around. Or the ones that stand in one spot for fifteen seconds with a molotov in their hand watching the other three get mauled, before running headlong into a cul-de-sac and throwing it at the ground or something.

Fun to do that sort of shit on purpose, but when you're playing with "LesMoinesElites [FR]" and he's healing himself every time he hits 80HP from wandering across the three of you firing at a group of enemies, that gets old pretty fast.

You are lucky. Wish I could find a few good people on Steam to play with. I am by no means good, but I'd like to succeed in the game instead fighting frustration with people who just don't seem to care? Can it really be that fun to ruin other peoples relaxation/cool down time?

I've not played the origional L4D, so no room for comparison but I did enjoy this demo. Glad I got in on a group-buy for what I'd consider a fair price. I will admit to dying, having to restart at the check point before I realized I had to climb up the ladder. OOPS  The swarm of zombies in expert is intense!

personally i bought it because i know im going to enjoy exploring the maps with friends.

With original L4D, when i wasnt playing with my friends, I would play normally, when i would run into somone that was on my team that played good, and used team work, i would add him to my friends. Then there was a point where i had about 20 people that played l4d, and always a few playing, I would join in their game, and almost always have a great game.. What ruined L4D for me, was rage quiters, we would only play up to chapter 3 because the other team would have 1 guy left. I hope that doesn´t happen as much with this one.

I like the new L4D2, but there are a few things that really bug me. Random frying pans and guitars laying around?, i mean i get guns laying around because the game needs to be playable, but a frying pan on top of a random building? or a guitar in the bathroom? i dont get it

Other than that I like the new stuff, i think ill get 45 dollars out of it for sure.....Although to a point I agree, The entire game could have been done in 2 big updates, most games have a new engine when they come out with a new game. IE COD series, And the engine is much improved and different.. Valve is due for something new. If the 3rd one happens anything like this, i will be done with the l4d series. They are going to have to update the hell out of this one (that is why i got the game now, because they are saying they will) And the 3rd one is going to have to be much diffrent than just more weapons diffrent zombies and more levels.

only real multiplayer game I play with strangers a lot is Half Life 2: Deathmatch...when playing the demo of L4D2 with strangers it can get frustrating because people's gameplay expectations are different

for example sometimes people want to complete the demo and close the last door and be done with the campaign...other times people refuse to enter that last room and want to constantly go back out and battle more zombies...both ways are fine but when you get a mix of people who might not all have the same agenda it can get frustrating

another thing that bugs me is when the Leader does not know how to start the game and everyone is just waiting in the Lobby

The demo is pretty boring because single player and campaign are boring.

From what I've seen with the new infected and style of gameplay, it will be awesome. The sheer amount of strategy that can be implemented because of the new infected is ridiculous. I'm glad it's more than just: wait for boom and then lets go in with hunters.

Problem is that L4D just seems to have more of those kind of people playing it. Maybe it's the nature of the kind of game, or that fact that now it's cheaper so more people can buy it, but it does seem to have a more "childish" public community. Great fun with people you know, but not nearly as much fun to play on a random server. Or maybe it's just that with only 4 people (or 8) the inevitable dickweed has more influence than he would in something like Battlefield.

What is it with this elitist bullshit? If they're fucking tards, they're fucking tards. No debate. And this is what the L4D community has been as of late and why I found a group of people with their own server and will only play with them.

Ding. There's been a lot of that lately. Back in the heyday of PC gaming, 32 on 32 matches didn't suffer much from one or even several people being morons, ragequitting, sucking, or being AFK. Now with 4 vs. 4 (L4D) and 8 vs. 8 (Battlefield Heroes), the problem is much more apparent. I think while developers would like to believe their matchmaking services are aggressive enough to keep servers full, they simply aren't. It might not be a problem with the programing, but that the pool of "available" players isn't enough. It's game design I've seen supported more often now, and it's simply self-defeating.

Charger and jockey are worthless, unless they put advanced and expert VS modes back in the game expect survivors to rape every round on even teams just like L4D1.

Pretty much this. Chances of coming across a random match with even 1 decent person in it is a very rare occurrence these days. Best to find a few friends who know what they're doing, and have at it :)

Plus this. People either suck, or they don't. No debate. After a few years of playing online games of a myriad of sorts, you get to know that the statistics are not in your favor.

Epic battle with a bunch of friends

Woah, thats cool.

I've played a fair few 8v8 matches of L4D and thats a lot of fun with 16 people who are all experienced and not idiots. This game is basically shit unless you're playing with competant players who don't mess about...

For the internet thats actually quite a specific set of circumstnaces, it eliminates almost all players who want casual games and dont want to bother with communities and groups etc

Let's see: Just had a group of 3 little butt buddies (who were talking like idiots half the game anyways) kill me at the end of the level.

These are the people that should not be in the L4D community, and if they go to L4D2, I won't get it.

  • I felt that the gun and hand textures were lower than in L4D1.
  • The guns are better. Matchette is ovrepowered some I think. One one of my plays I went through the whole demo only using it. (on advanced).
  • New infected are really good. Brings some variety.
  • Some of the weapons seem improperly scaled. Like the Desert Eagle. It is HUGE. I should make some comparison screen shots of the DE with the AK47, UZI, G3, and others. For some reason I think the Desert Eagle would be the largest.

Other then that it feels exactly the same as the original. Not even close to being worth $50 to me.
I'll wait and get it for $25 or less, just like I did with L4D1.

Okay I just did the modification to play as the infected.
Oh wow. I had no idea it could be so much more fun playing as the charger and jockey.
Snatching Rochelle and running away hahah.

If you can hit all 4 with the charger you will absolutely devastate the team ALONE. Especially near a death drop or abyss like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy4GhuSxex8

I am really second guessing my decision. Depending on how many of my friends get it I might just drop the 50 bones on it. (Also since Im not even going to waste my $60 on that mw2 garbage)

This demo sucks
well, the fact that it won't play without stuttering sucks,
and yes I defragged and verified the game files and disabled multi-core
I have a gtx285 and 4.5Ghz. and new drivers and it still all stuttering sound and video
sigh....
valve used to be the best now they're just another EA....

Did you really have post this here and make another thread for this same post? Quit your whining.

Real simple, this should have been a $15 expansion pack(what this shit was called before it was marketed to console kiddies as DLC).Source needs to be put out to pasture as that shit is pretty ugly now. After playing games like Borderlands,Batman AA and RE5,this game really felt dated in graphics, animations etc.I hope EP 3 uses a new engine.
