Hi,

What's the best tactical/strategy tank game you've played? I play World of Tanks but it's more of a shooter game where blowouts are the norm. Gets boring quickly.

Steel Armor: Blaze of War on Steam
modern day tanks

Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942
WWII tanks

There is also a simulation called Steel Breasts Pro but it is $125.00 and requires a USB dongle to be plugged in when you play so I refuse to buy it for that reason. Fucking dongle to play a game, get real. I do have the first version but that was a lot cheaper and requires no dongle. It is quite dated now though and doesn't even have 3D accelerated graphics.

It's probably not quite as in-depth as some of the tank-only simulators, but ArmA 3 has some decent tank combat. Plus infantry, air, etc. as well.

It is a shame no one has made a modern Steel Beasts type game. Steel Armor is "ok" but the UI is atrocious and they only have the T62 and M60 tank.

I'd rather have a good modern engine tank sim with an M1 or T90.

Last tank game I played was Tank Commander in 1995. I liked Panzer General too, but only played the demo. It was actually a pretty good simulation for it's time (1998).

Yea, but you can set it so you have control over all of your sides units too so it is a tactical strategy game and a tank sim. It is based on this strategy game and even has the same GUI. It has abit of a steep learning curve but is worth learning and is better than the likes of Company of Heroes, IMO.

Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star on Steam

There is this EA tank game too but graphics look kind of crap and it has no interior cockpit. If it did I would probably buy it because it is cheap enough.

M4 Tank Brigade on Steam

What I would like to see is a remake of M1TP2 by Microprose.

if you've been playing world of tanks and WWII tanks are what interest you the most i'd suggest "warthunder" tanks.. they have an "arcade mode" which is a hell of a lot better than world of tanks, semi realistic and realistic modes. there are also big historical event type matches with 1 nation vs another or vs multiple. the player base is much smaller than world of tanks but the players there tend to be a bit more serious about their playing then the kiddie shit you see in the world of tank/plane/ships player base.

There is also an older game called T72 vs Tiger. I enjoyed that one a bit

Men of War has some decent tank play.

its like company of heroes....actually its to company of heroes, what ARMA is to call of duty.

World in Conflict. You get to nuke people. Its awesome.
I'm still trying to create a Vista VM so that I can play the damn game!

Vista all setup, but AMD drivers just wont install in the VM!!!!
