Newegg has lost all respect from me after the gouge that i am seeing for quad core. They want $1499 for it. Before all you economics 101 supply/demand fanatics start flaming me, this is lame even for them. *Thumbs down* to newegg. I'll be dealing with alternate vendors from here on out as I can't deal with price gougers and keep a clear conscience.

Great thanks, please move along.

Stupid companies charging money for products that people are willing to pay. What is this world coming too??

/sarcasm.

Yeah I guess corporate ethics is too much to ask for in this day and age. Forgive me for being just a little bit flabbergasted at that price. The reason that newegg bothers me is that they set the market cost and should have a little bit of ethics for the consumer. By this time tomorrow all the other vendors will also be at $1500. They may have made $500 off one of these sales, but they have lost a similar amount from me buying all of my high end gear from somewhere else. Take that market economy 101 and smoke it.

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562QX6700 - Retail
Model #: BX80562QX6700
Item #: N82E16819115011
Return Policy: Processors (CPUs) Return Policy

This item has a quantity limit of 1

edit: for $1500 I think I'd rather build a whole new system:

Description Cost
Lian Li PC-7A Plus II 90
Gigabyte DS3 145
Core 2 e6300 184
120GB SATA HD 55
8800 GTX ----- $650
2 x 1Gb DDR2 240
16x DVD+RW 30
Xclio 600W PSU 120

Total $1514

Limited quantity and guaranteed sales of course they will increase the price...why not? First day of release damn straight they will raise the price...they are a buisness and are there to make money. No one is forcing you to buy first day or even the first week...thats how everything is, supply and demand.

Am I buying a Kentsfield? No. Will I? Maybe but not while the prices remain similiar to a new system or a new tv :D

Congrats to Intel on another advancement in the computing industry.

I will get a Quad Core when they are Navtive quad core, instead of just 2 core 2 duos on one package.

I'll get a quad core when one single game makes use of dual core heh.

Im sure newegg will feel the lost of your business. Cmon, price gouging? We are talking about a CPU, not a necessity like milk, water, batteries, etc.

$1500. Hmm...

I could buy a 2.372 metric tons of hamsters and have them run in wheels for days to match the performance of the Kentsfield. Mutli-threaded hamsters ftw.

I'm sure the cost of feeding them would exceed the cost of feeding volts into a Kentsfield :D

He's a witch!!! BURN HIM!!!!

Just kidding, you are absolutely correct. (other then your spelling of native... get firefox 2, built in spell checking for forums)

Feeding? Wha-...so that's why the last batch of hamsters di-. Nevermind.

Like I posted before, I am all aware about supply and demand so please spare me the economics 101 rhetoric. They can do whatever they want but they have lost me as their customer. Who cares if they feel that loss or not. If more of you would do the same then maybe they wouldn't pull stunts like this. They are entitled to sell what they want at what price they want and because of their choice I have decided to take my business elsewhere. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

There is nothing unethical about this. They probably have. . . five. So, the person who wants it the most and can pay for it will get it. That's business.

When they are plentiful, Newegg will be at MSRP. 'Nuff said.

In fact, they would be stupid to not sell it for $1500 if they can sell it for $1500.

in other news: Clubit.com raised their price to match newegg. They were selling them for ~$1300 last week.

Hmm, other stores which are selling them for the $1,050 range are sold out.. damn

I guess it's time to wait. $500 is too much of a premuim to suck down.

Says the bat-shit insane guy who built Galaxy 4.0 ;)

In other news, I ordered more hamsters. ;)

On-topic news, when do you think we'll start seeing sane (well, sane-er) pricing? Q1 2007 or so?

Yeah Tankguys has it OEM for $1099...

$400 for a heatsink and 3 year warrenty vs 90 warrenty...

Dunno...90 warrenty does kinda suck.

How often have you had a processor die?

God these threads never get old. You people bitching about the pricing are just jealous. My suggestion... get a better job (or A job period) or STFU about it and realize that if you want to have the best the day of launch that you'll have to pay a premium. Really... what the hell do you expect retailers to do? Sell the shit @ cost and lose possible profits? Grow up people...

Rarely do I agree with Poncho, but this is one of those times.

It's like the douchebags who bring stuff into sears 9 months after they buy it because it's on super sale and demand the difference  Along with the processor, buy a friggin clue.

The OP is obvious young and or naive. It does not matter if you are in the US, Russia, China or in the jungle of Africa you sell your products for what the market will bear. Apostle Paul made and sold tents for a living and I do not think he sold his tents for anything less than he was able to get for them. Many of the other apostles fished for a living and I am sure they sold the fish for what they could get for them. It is the way of humanity and it is called supply and demand. I think it would be crazy to buy it at $1500 but others are gladly going to pay for it at that price.

Got mine at Tankguys. It is OEM, but oh well, I have never warrantied a processor.

Thanks to Ben over at Tankguys! Great customer service!

'Cept the one who taught that one customer how to fish, man did he regret it. He went so far as to boycott anyone else who sold 'fish'. He probably then moved on to be the first !!!!! who saw the vision of sales based off of spin, like "Native".:p

I loved the analogy btw. :D

Would you sell me your E6600 for 150$? lol

I stopped shopping at Newegg because of the prices. They aren't the cheapest company anymore. They also screwed me on a DEAD 24" Monitor they sent me and refused to send me one that worked. Yes, they made me send my NEW and DOA monitor to Acer.

Screw that.
