Been talking with the IT at my school, and the principal, and I've got permission to b0rg the school. I've still got to go around and install the client on all the computers and all that, but its worth it. Two labs are full of IBM Netvistas with 2.4 P4s, 256MB of RAM. Another lab with another IBM model, specs unknown, but they are new as of last year. Theres a lab with a few 900MHz Celerons, but those won't be borged. There isn't enough RAM in them to fold. A few have 128MB of RAM, others have 64MB... and they run XP Pro with full visual effects.

I'll have to do a count of all the systems, talley up the total GHz, but it should be quite a bit. IIRC, theres somewhere over 75-80 computers in the school, probably in the 90-100 range. Most won't be on 24/7, but there are a few that do. They should be running from about 8am-5pm most days.

Should provide a small boost in points.

Yep, get the hell out of my way, and pardon my dust. :D

And yes, thats me.

I'd be more than happy to trade places with you if you're getting that nostalgic vibe. School drains the life out of me. :(

<on topic> we loves us some lab borgin'

Fold on people! For tuxedoedShrimp

Congrats on the nice b0rg. When I was in college, back before F@H, I ran the distributed.net clients on all the machines in all the computer labs on the local campus when I was the only tech on duty Saturdays, back then having access to about 200 top-of-the-line P3 1 GHz machines made my work units skyrocket. Wish I had access to them now to borg them with F@H :(

No, but I'm sure the llama is ready, though. :p

Theres a small delay with this.

Even though I've got the ok from everyone, the IT wants me to give a formal presentation to the principal explaning the whole project. Nothing too bad, I've still got the powerpoint Carnival_Forces(it was him, right?) made a while back, just kind of an inconvenience.

Also, I was talking to the IT a couple days ago when working with him, and he made mention that the school might buy a few more computers. Nothing on this is confirmed yet, but if true it could mean anywhere from 5 computers all the way up to a full lab full of brand spankin new computers.

I made up a small presentation for the same purpose--feel free to take a look and rip off whatever you want.

Started installing today, but only had enough time to do 3. Will do the rest tomorrow, but for now thats an extra 8.4GHz. :D
