I'm moving into a new place but here's a quick shot of the Jerker...

and here's the wiremold I mounted to the back... I'll post a better picture of it later.

Wow...I hadn't thought of using the shelf like that (for the monitor and stuff)...that's a really, really good idea that I just might be stealing. Thank you for the inspiration.

...Actually, since I'm really curious now, how many screw-holes is the one shelf above the desktop?

Do you have a habit of leaving your passport lying around?

Well I was trolling this board over the weekend and found this thread. I liked what I saw so I went and bought one of these desk's and made 2 trips back to Ikea to buy more add ons haha.

I am a multimedia artist (Most would call me a graphic designer but I work with MANY mediums) and I am very picky about my workspace. I have become less critical since I ditched the CRT's but I still like a good desk and this is hands down the most functional, sturdy desk that I have ever owned at this price point. I have an anthro setup at my office and this desk is on the same quality level yet cost about $1500 LESS!!!!

I wish I had this when I ran dual 21" CRT's, I almost want to go get new displays because now I have a desk at home that can properly accomodate them. No more mousepad, the surface is great for gaming, tons of space to get wild lol.

anyways here is my before and after, I go through desks like crazy, this glass one was a gift that I was trying out, I wouldnt suggest buying it unless its for your kids or girlfriend. Not a good workstation desk at all!

That's really nice, Half Black Chalk. I just redid my Jerker the same way; I'll take some pictures once I get things cleaned up. :p

It's a desk made by Ikea. The name of it is "Jerker". From what I gather the J is pronounced like a Y (from what I understand, that's how they do it in Sweden)...

That would make a lot more sense...I always felt weird telling me friends about the "Jerker". :p

Awsome desk though, can't wait to be able to order one.

I have a question. I am thinking of buying the exact same Jerker config, complete with the additional shelf in the middle as an LCD stand. However I have a Dell 2405. Would this fit? I'm worried about the top shelf being too low.

I've got the Jerker as well.

But there is no way I could use a shelf to raise the monitor like that. The monitor I have adjusts well enough, and I couldn't stand to have my LCD that far back. Then again, my eyes aren't the best either.

Interesting. I was hoping to have a little space to push the keyboard and mouse into when i needed space for work. But you do make a good point that the desk is pretty deep.

You can adjust the top shelf up or down as needed, and on top of that, the extra shelf comes with height extensions that go into the side posts. You'll have space one way or another, don't worry.

got about $4,000 in computer parts(at the time, atleast), $1,000 in moniters, $200 in input devices, and $1,500 in speaker stuff(i made the shelf speakers for around ~$200, and they sound about as good as a $1,200 pair) taken with a camera I have spent $4,000 on... yeah, i cant afford this many hobbies...

i just wanted to say ... this is the weirdest picture ive ever seen....

theres:

The fat guy from Indiana Jones’s hat ontop of the black monitor

a Siamese cat picture

Paralyzed insects

a bow and arrow?

is that a monitor with a crack in the center? (maybe from a bee bee gun?)

speakers balanced on chairs....

MC hammer poster on the PC...

a mink covered computer chair?

edit: oh yeh, a picture of a grandmother with a sign that says "do it tomorrow"

May be they have a morbid fascination with the unliving and a macabre personality.

You're very perceptive to pick those out as well so mondo points to you.

Add in the two kids eating something obviously very big. Looks like a snake or something.

lol, that upper desk probly came from staples I saw one there that look like it.

Just a preliminary shot. I've got a 2407WFP, two Ergotron LCD arms, and two cloth Steelpads on order. I'm also probably going back to Ikea tomorrow to get two Signum cable trays and one of those work lamps that clamps onto the side of the desk.

Yes without a doubt, I am strongly considering the purchase of that display. I prefer a dual monitor setup over a widescreen but this display is no longer made and im too O.C.D. to have mis matched monitors so I am starting from scratch.

I think you could even go two 2405's wide with speakers flanking each side.

I would advise against that, this glass thing that can be found at any Best Buy, Frys, Staples, Office Max, etc is a POS. Beyond that its tiny, personly I could not stand having nothing for my arms to rest on. If you lived in Phx I would let you come get this one for free.

Oddly enough, I had that desk before I got my Jerkers too.

It's terrible- scratches easily, and if you're like me and have a ton of computer stuff, wire management on that thing is an absolute nightmare, since you can see everything. I hate keyboard drawers too, so that didn't help much either.

It may look nice, but it's totally non-functional.
