iPhone 5 vs .50 Cal

Apple gets their money.

The video author gets to destroy an iphone (lucky bastard).

The viewers get to enjoy the show.

-

Everyone is happy, I don't see a downside to this!

I beg you to see how effing stupid it is.

It's doing whatever the hell you want with your private property. Why do you have a problem with that?

I have no problem with the right to do as you please with your own property.

At the same time those who go off on disgusting displays of wasteful opulence and violence should be called on it.

Similar to free speech. I support free speech completely, but if you call your wife fat, there are going to be repercussions. :p

Private property or not, in order to not be giant douchebags we all have the responsibility not to be wasteful, especially when there are others who can barely feed themselves.

A few people are always angry when someone else has something they don't.

Then we never ever get to have fun, because there will always been millions(bare minimum) of people starving. How much electricity do you waste posting on this forum, or playing a video game, or watching a blu-ray, or doing whatever it is you do? How much money do you waste on sports, paintball, cars, etc? You and every other American(just like me) waste money all the time from someone's perspective.

The biggest question: how long are you going to spend bitching at people to feel guilty over what they have and others don't?

You should be using your time to drum up money for charities rather than posting useless words on a hardware forum.

the phone actually held up pretty nicely FWIW. I was expecting the phone to shatter in a million pieces.

The gun is nice, The phone was nice, But that slow motion camera O_O.....where do I get one of those!!!!

So let me get this straight. You're on a website about building computers for playing video games , tout your multiple computer specs in your sig , complain about people spending money on toys to blow up instead of feeding poor people? You=hypocrite .

$600 processor, no less.

Controversy and moronicism generates news for us imbeciles to chew on. On the other, it does often point to real and underlying difficulties of the human comedy.

you can manipulate video speed in any basic video editing tool.

Yeah...except that a normal camera shots at 30-60FPS which means your lucky to get the bullet in a single frame. And if you did get the bullet in a frame it would be a streak because you need an insanely high shutter speed to make a bullet stand still.

Watching a few of these videos his camera is capturing the bullet about once every 3-4 inches. 50BMG travels at 2900ish FPS so 2900X12=34800 / 3-4 = 8700-11600FPS. so I'm gonna guess it's a 10,000FPS camera which is EXPENSIVE.

might be one of these.

cool, learn something new everyday.

the video only has about 500k views, but he does have a decent amount of subscribers, hes got add support and is a trusted partner.

My estimate of what he made is: $1750 for that one video off of youtube alone, not sure what he would rake in from the add's.

Wasteful people are "giant douchebags." Check.

What if that "wasteful douchebag" gave tons of money to charity each year? What if that "wasteful douchebag" actually helped the handicapped, disabled, less fortunate and our veterans in need...does he still deserve to be berated over perceived "wastefullness?"

So...what do we call people that feel the need to inflict (yes, I said inflict) their opinion on others simply because the do not agree with what that person does with their own private property?

How much money have you spent on moronic, selfish things in the last year, and how much have you given to hungry people?

Even eeeeevil Mitt Romney gave 30% of his income to charity.

LOL, I wouldn't call the mormon church a "charity".

Not saying he didn't do any good, but it's a lot easier to donate money to charity when you have lots of it, to the point of already having everything you want and there's no real sense in having more (but you do anyways)

As you see from other comments, it doesn't matter. If someone is rich, they're an asshole, so they DESERVE to give huge chunks of money to charity.

If someone is rich and they don't give huge chunks of money to charity, they're an even bigger asshole.

Ultimately, for the unevolved among us...the more someone has of something they don't...regardless of how hard they worked or what they did to get it...the bigger an asshole they are.

Class warfare. A century ago, it started the Soviet Union. Enjoy.

Hoo boy.

Who cares how easy it was? It would have been even easier to not give away any money.

What good is giving to charity if people like you are just going to roll their eyes, scoff, and say "no big deal"?

Ditto.

Never understood people who do this.

Why not donate the money to charity instead? Save some starving children.

One of the few things I hate more than Apple and their products is waste.

Why buy PC games or over priced PC hardware? Why not donate it to a charity to save some starving children? ;)

*/not directed at Steve, just adding on to*

You mean like the cause he plugged for service dogs at the end?

This is technically a form of charity. Without the act of shooting the iPhone5, he wouldn't have driven traffic to his video which in turn would not have led people to support the cause he plugs in the end. I may buy the "Hair Missile" shirt because it's hilarious and supports a good cause They'll probably receive more in support then if he'd had donated the $600 for the phone directly to them.

He could have very easily just wore a corporate shirt (like Pepsi or something) and made more revenue off of that advertising. He chose to support a cause.

Charity does not always equal monetary. It can come in other forms.

Remember .. it's entertainment. I guess we can tell hollywood to tone back the car explosions because the millions spent to film such a thing could go to "charity".

I'm not buying my computer hard ware just to turn around and smash it.

The only way to be more of a wasteful douche, would be to find a starving family, by a bag of cheeseburgers, place them on the ground in front of them and take a piss on them.

I have nothing against people who have the means buying luxury items I can't afford. It's the buying something just to turn around and be careless or intentionally destroy it part that rubs me the wrong way.

I'm all for blowing crap up, but a brand new phone... what a waste of money.
