iPad outselling Microsoft

Love my ipad2 really havent touched my computer since i got it. Use it for pretty much everything. Ill take an ipad2 over an android based tablet anyday.
 
I'm a die hard PC guy who loves W7 but I've ordered an iPad to use for away, work and fun.
MS is not going bankrupt and both Apple and MS are constantly evolving to keep up with the changes in the electronic world.
I strongly feel it's good for consumers for both companies to stay strong.

I have to admit, I have NO idea how a dual 580 SLI 980x system let alone two SB systems get replaced by an iPad, it certainly couldn't replace desktops. I'd say your offer was tempting, if it was.;)

I havent been gaming at all lately. Pretty much been web surfing and email. With my ipad i can do it in my chair in front of the tv. Im sure once bf3 comes out ill be on my computer more.

I watch a lot of Flash video through the internet browser, mostly evening news form several European countries. Abode flash is awful bloatware, is the iPad CPU/GPU able to keep up without dropping frames?

iPad looks cool, but I'd like to get some work done. I own an iPod Touch, and I use it for: Music. That's it. It's a glorified MP3 player, and that's what it is going to be for me (until I get my WP7 and Zune software).

When I was at the airport, I saw a few people with iPad's, and it worked for them. So, it does have it's place in the public, but it won't do anything for me. I do work and stuff.

And there is no way Microsoft is even close to going bankrupt. That came out of your ass, man. Apple products are good in their little hipster niche market, but outside of that, people need to get some work done. I've played with a friends Macbook, she loves it, I hate it. I always give her shit for it, too. But, she gives me crap about PC's. :) We just joke around, though. We both use what we use, and it gets what we need done... well, done. That's all that counts, really.
 
Having an iPhone and MBP, I sold my iPad 2 within 2 weeks, never used it....
 
Honestly, I can never see the ipad as a desktop replacement. Ever. Not even a netbook replacement.

In all honesty, I thought you were kidding, but the fact that you asked this three times in one page makes me realize you are actually asking a question.

The whole point of the iPad was to be a mobile browser program that gives you apps like the iPhone does, thats it......

In answer, it uses Safari, which you can also download for windows as well. Its secure, and you can do your online banking with it no problem.
 
I understand the attraction to apple products, their brand name and high price, mixed with the very sleek designs and high quality parts are very attractive to the average user. Apple knows how to pull people in, by making it look great and give very easy pick up and play functionality.

Fortunately, we're all smart enough to understand that $300 for a 1TB hard drive, and $80 for a DVD drive is a complete rip off. Selling a dual core 2.8ghz, 2GB RAM, 500GB hard drive laptop for $900 is insanity. Yet, people see OSx and the Apple logo and go "ohhh, ahhh" "Only $1,300!". They don't understand that they could literally get a quad core 3.2ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB HDD laptop with a larger screen and higher resolution for $500. My girlfriend did this, she owned a mac and it crapped out on her after two years, she was going to buy a laptop with the same specs as her old one with a new case for $900.


iPads are cool, and fun to play with, but an iPad 2 is only worth $300 IMO, and I wouldn't pay any more than that, ever. Plus, it's basically a big iPod Touch. Bigger is more fun though :p

I think the "ohhh ahhh" effect though is very important. Windows PCs are often seen by people as "the stuff Dad uses" and are considererd old and stale even though Windows has an incredible about of functionality. I think this is a big reason for adapting the Metro UI for Windows 8. It is a very different UI from anything else mainstream in the market right now and Windows 8 looks to be a very different OS from anything mainstream.

While it remains to be seen how popular Windows 8 will be it is different and I'm sure that Microsoft is hoping that it will draw some "ohhs" and "ahhs".
 
I'm okay with using either products. I do like the resale value of apple products though.

You'd be better off with Android 3.0 tablet. ASUS Transformer is pretty nice and not heavy like some of the others. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks even sweeter, though sadly the wifi version seems to lack a microSD slot.

With the Android tablets, you have more browser choices, you get a version of Chrome as the stock browser and in addition you can get Firefox, Opera, and Dolphin, along with other choices. Chrome and Firefox are good because both will sync up your bookmarks between your desktop and tablet browsers very nicely. And Opera is just very quick. And most work with Flash. Flash might not be the greatest experience on a tablet, but it is still nice to have when you need it.

And you don't have to use iTunes, Android has a user accessible file system, you can simply plug in the tablet and drag-drop files between your computer and the tablet. And those files on the tablet and easily accessible by any app that can use them.

I used to have a company laptop...great laptop, that was...but the company wanted it back when I changed to a different position...so I nabbed an iPad and did NOT buy my own laptop....8 months later, I'm happy. But I don't do anything too serious on my ipad. When I was in the hospital overnight this weekend, I had my 3G ipad. Rocked for sitting around and browsing, emailing, forum posting...while being small.

That said....I have a gaming PC. And an XBox. MS isn't going down, and the iPad is no PC/Mac Laptop/Desktop replacement. My needs just were such that an iPad was sufficient.

And that's what it's really all about more than tablets replacing laptops and desktops. For some people like yourself a tablet works for you and probably for a tons of other folks. But there's still going to be plenty of people, even people with tablets that will still want and need desktops and laptops.
 
I just caught this thread...Microsoft fired half its employees and is declaring bankruptcy? LMAO!!! Wtf?

The article states that MS made 5.2 billion in the first quarter...yeah, that's called NOT being in debt, whether they made more during a previous quarter or not, or whether another company made more than them or not.
